Chapter 2: Chapter 1

A baby was born today. My little brother Jameson was brought into this world by my mother.

To be quite frank with you. I am happy that her pregnancy is over. As much as I love my mother, her and being pregnant were not a good mixture.

I decided to not visit her today but tomorrow because ever since magic came into the world delivering babies had surmounted to a whole new level of pain. She will be very tired and sleepy after her delivery.

So my sister, brother, and I decided to finally decorate our brother's room. We didn't mean for us to do it the day he was born but that's what we got for being lazy. It was a miracle that we even started doing it. Though I blame my parents for dumbing this job on us even when they know our work ethic.

"Cyran, I promise, if you throw one more bib at me, my fist will be the last thing you will ever see!" My sister, Mayra yelled at our brother. The fierce glare she sent him, prompted him to stop but before he muttered an insult.

I got stuck with putting things on the walls. I blocked out my bickering siblings and focused on my tedious task. For as long as I remember they have always been like this. Arguing over the littlest of things. Their relationship dynamic stems from some old fight that happened before I was even born.

Cyran was supposed to be putting the clothes and necessities in the drawers, while Mayra was supposed to build the crib. Both are successfully not completing their tasks. They managed to make such simple tasks a war over who can yell the loudest.

At one point their bickering got to the point I was ready to pull my hair out. They were the best siblings I could ever ask for but I would appreciate it if they just didn't argue as much as they did. It would be more bearable if they could multi-task while arguing but they have yet to master that art.

"Cyran, Mayra give my ears a rest" I couldn't take it anymore. I finished putting a picture on the wall and walked out of the room. I didn't forget to give them a 'knock it off' glare before I retreated into the comforts of my room.

I walked to my bedroom and threw myself on my bed. I let out a big sigh as I remembered that the end of the break was only two days away. But still, excitement coursed through me at the thought of starting my first year of the Academy of Magic, or T.A.M. for short.

It was a big honor to be accepted into T.A.M. The acceptance rates were low and everyone wanted to learn how to become a Mage or Wizard. It was a prestigious job that offered lots of opportunities and most importantly money.

We also had the opportunity to major or specialize in our categories of the magic arts. Such as alchemy, spell casting, summoning, formations, healing/light magic, and spatial arts. I wanted to specialize in the spatial arts.

Mayra and Cyran already graduated eight years ago when since they are twins. Mayra specialized in spell casting while Cyran specialized in formations. They are constantly away for assignments and missions and I can tell they enjoy their job. Especially given the fact they are apart from each other and get to travel all over the continent.

My dad had wanted Cyran to take his place as a nobleman but my brother had his heart set on becoming a Wizard. My dad very quickly accepted his decision and was ready to adopt a promising man to take his position. It was natural for the first boy or the next boy in line to take over their seat. It was a difficult decision to make but now that my mom accidentally got pregnant, their problems were solved. Even though they were having another child even when I am 17 and my siblings are 25, my parent's situation was not completely uncommon.

I sighed again and started to roll all around my bed in frustration resulting in me falling off my bed and hitting my thigh against the bedpost.

I cursed out my bedpost whilst rubbing the spot of impact. Mayra decided it was the perfect time to enter my room and ask me if I was okay. Almost 10 minutes after I fell on the floor.

I gave an unimpressed look and shoved my way past her at my room door. She fake tumbled onto the floor, claiming how I'm always hurting her and so abusive. "It's the thought that counts," Mayra complained.

Cyran came in at the right time to give her an 'are you serious look' at the same time I was. When we realized what we did, we gave each other a high five laughing while Mayra sat on the floor pouting.

"Mayra, you need to realize that you are the most annoying person to have ever been born and I'm saying this as your twin. Nobody. Cares." Cyran ruthlessly murdered her spirit.

Oof. That's a hard one to return to, but knowing Mayra she had something sly to say right back at him. Before she can say something back, I quickly cut her off.

"Why can't you guys have a pleasant and civil conversation instead of disturbing my peace!" I gripped the roots of my hair in frustration. My poor hair doesn't deserve this, but what can I do when I am living in a house with oversized toddlers.

"We're your siblings and being in your presence is the only way we can be civil," Myra slides across the floor to hug my legs while pouting at me.

"Yeah, if you're not around, who's supposed to be the boss," Cyran followed her lead by hugging my torso. I groaned in frustration and hurled them to baby Jameson's room to finish their work. I locked them inside with I simple spell and returned to the comforts of my bed.

Not even twelve minutes later I hear a loud bang and then a curse word. I shot up from my bed and saw that in hopes of trying to break out, they broke the damn door. What the hell were they thinking! The lock was not on the door but on the threshold.

I look up at the wooden splinters littered all over the carpet to see the sheepish faces of my oldest siblings.

Lord help me now.

I was about to pull at my roots, but then I thought smarter. Run my fingers through my hair.

That did not work out, my long curly had been tangled from lying down on my bed. I sighed in frustration and almost punched the nearest object/thing which happened to be the wall.

Cyran looked at me with wide green eyes and pouty lips.

No. No. No. I know what he is doing. He's trying to bait me into freeing him and it's working.

I looked away in fear that I might just reverse the spell, but my eyes trailed to my sister's wide hazel eyes. She was tilting her head to the side like a puppy with her brown hair being held underneath her chin.

I groaned and looked away while putting my hand on my face. I waved my hand and the spell disappeared.

Without so much of a thank you, they each went in opposite directions down the hallway. The blonde mops of hair disappeared around a corner and left me alone.

Deciding that I was not even going to ask, I went to the cleaning closet and took out a broom. I picked up all the big pieces of wood and brushed away the rest as best as I could. I decided I would get my dad to perform some cleaning spells later.

I was worried about the reaction my dad was going to have when he came home today. Jameson was not going to be able to have a door for a while I guess. I groaned, I really need to take a nap.

I went straight to my bed and passed out hungry and insanely tired, but what do you expect after dealing with children for an entire day.
