Chapter 18: Change and Reason
Kazuki suddenly woke up and the first thing she notices that Raikou wasn't with her.
"hah hah hah" Kazuki started to gasp for air, scared that something terrible happens to Raikou. But she notices that Yoshihiko-sensei was on the bus. So it is likely the one who drags them outside was Raikou.
"Pang!" Kazuki slaps herself to compose herself, when it comes to Raikou, she can't just hold her feelings. And as always she analyzes everything before making a decision but it only takes a few seconds to understand her situation. She also checks her own body condition and Amane's condition before waking her up.
"Amane Amane, Are you awake?" Kazuki gently tap her
"Huh? What happens" Amane was panicked looking at her surroundings but when she saw Kazuki she started to calm down.
"Kazuki, What happen?"
"Well it looks like there was a problem with the bus wheels and it started to head towards the cliff"
"But why are we outside of the bus?"
"Oh, Am impress that you've thought of that. You're right there was someone who drags us out"
"But who? and where is He/She?"
"Judging by it looks, it must've been Rai"
"Huh? But where is he?"
"I don't know, but must've had a reason why"
"Kazuki, you really trust Raikou"
"Of course, I LOVE Him(as a Man). That's why"
Inside of Amane's mind, she was thinking that Raikou and Kazuki have such a great relationship(Siblings).

After some time, some of the girls started to wake up but they're all silent and shocked about the situation they are in until Kazuki spoke to the President of the basketball club, Shakashita Chiaki.
"I think we should treat the injured first, but what do you think?" (Kazuki)
"What do think we can possibly do in this kind of situation?!" Shouting at Kazuki, Chiaki was thinking that this girl is so annoying and does she think everything can go her way.
"There's no guarantee that help will come if we just wait. If you're not capable of leading, I'll take over."(Kazuki)
"Huh?! Do you think that you can decide on your own! Like bringing your Boyfriend on this trip?! Do you think you'll be forgiven if something happens?!" (President Chiaki)
"Wait! President, Raikou is not Kazuki's boyfriend. He's her brother" (Amane)
"I don't care! But where is he?!" (President Chiaki)
Kazuki stayed silent because she knew nothing can change the fact that Raikou's missing which also made her anxious.
"Yes! Raikou's gone but He's the one who drags us out of the bus in case it explodes!" Amane unable to see her friends be a judge like that shouted.
"HUMMP! Ritsu!" (President Chiaki)
"Uh, Yes!" (Ritsu)
"Administer first aid to the injured. Start Immediately!"
"No way I can't!, There are doctors in my family, But I don't know how to" Ritsu started to lose control because of the huge responsibility that President Chiaki presented her.
"Stop complaining and do it" President Chiaki was piss by Ritsu's complained and glared at her
"President Sakashita, Could I have your permission to search for my brother" (Kazuki)
"Don't go running off by yourself " President Chiaki was slowly losing her composure.
"Amane, Would you join me?" (Kazuki)
"Of course" Amane was surprised and happy to be of any help towards Kazuki
"Hey! Don't go too far Kazami-san. Doing your own thing again!" President Chiaki was at limit and glared at Kazuki
"It's fine as long as I'm not alone, right? Let's go Amane. And we're just gonna find Rai and the other's who are missing. And it's for our own good if we find them, right?" Kazuki answers in a composed manner even though She was being glared at by President Chiaki.
Kazuki and Amane search for Raikou and the other's while analyzing their surroundings like their cellphone can't receive a signal, the compass isn't working properly, the impossibility of climbing the cliff, and especially the harsh forest that surrounds them where they fell.
"It's gotten interesting, right?" (Kazuki)
"Gotten interesting, What do you mean?" Amane was confused at Kazuki
"If that sounded impudent to you, I'm sorry but I thought you might feel less anxious if you sensed I was, to some extent, relaxed. It's gonna be fine because I trust Raikou to find a solution." (Kazuki)
Amane was happy hearing Kazuki being concerned about her. and laugh and proceed to hug Kazuki
Kazuki and Amane returned without finding a clue about the whereabouts of the other.
"You haven't treated them? You just need to set the fractures and suture the wound, don't you? they're simple treatment." (Kazuki)
"Don't ask the impossible! I don't have any tools! If you think it's so simple, you do it!" Ritsu was pissed about Kazuki's attitude
"yes, could you boil some water for me, Then?" (Kazuki)
Ritsu was glad that Kazuki could take that burden off her.
Kazuki started treating them with their make ship tools even without prior experience. Only based on her photographic memories inside her head about medical books.
"Huh? Amazing, can you do that Kazuki?" Amane looks at Kazuki with stars in her eyes.
"I believe that "I could have done something" is the most frustrating regret of them all. That being the case, why don't we tent to them one at a time?" (Kazuki)
"I'll start with Kaneda'san's cranial laceration"(Kazuki)
"Why?" Amane was confused with Kazuki's words and actions
"Because it's the most minor injury if the more severely injured girls die while I'm tending to the others. I won't have to waste time examining them." (Kazuki)
"Why did you go quiet?" Kazuki was doubtful of her quietness.
"I was joking. It's embarrassing if you don't laugh" Kazuki tried to make it look like a joke.
Amane was thinking that how can Kazuki joke like that and was concerned about her and ask.
"Do you have any friends before" (Amane)
"Well.. none, probably just you" Kazuki's voice was filled with a tint of hope.
"Thank you" (Saaya)
"By the way, what did you say your given name was?" (Kazuki)
"Saaya. Kaneda Saaya" (Saaya)
"Saaya-san, is it? That's a good name. Good enough that I'd give it to my dog if I had one" (Kazuki)
"A dog?" Saaya was confused by her joke
"Um, I'm Sorry! she tends to take jokes too far" Amane panicked and tried to explain Kazuki's weird sense of humor
"Ara, why are you apologizing?" Kazuki's voice sounds like she was grateful for Amane's concern.
"Because I'm your friend " Amane proudly announce their relationship.
"Ara, I'm so happy" Kazuki laugh
"I've never had a best friend before. I want to give you hugs and kisses right now, but I'm examining here now, so it'll have to wait." Kazuki said in a haft joking manner
"Please take your time" Amane was taken back and stayed an appropriate distance from Kazuki
after treating everyone, well mostly the minor injury.
"For now, we should tell the club president that we've done all we can... AWH!" Kazuki started to feel her arm being cracked
"Kazuki, what's wrong!" Amane anxiously shouted
"It's cracked"
"Don't tell me your left arm... The one that broke our fall in the jungle... It's my fault? Right?!" Amane started to blame herself because of her carelessness
"It's not your fault, that we fell in the jungle and we also found out the dangers lurking around us, right?" Kazuki was acting like a pitiful person
Amane was making a weird self-blame expression
"Don't feel down, It was an accident. Are you the type that can't relax if there's no one to punish you? In that case, let's just say you owe me for my left arm." Kazuki immediately change her attitude in a joking manner
"Debt?" (Amane)
"If I ask it at any time, you must obey my orders without argument. Do that, and I'll forgive you." Kazuki explained
"I'd listen to you right now if you told me to, though." Amane was confused about her not using her debt right now.
"A debt is more profitable if you don't collect it right away." Kazuki explained
"Sensei!" (President Chiaki)
They started to question Yoshihiko-sensei about why did the accident occur, which was explained by Kazuki because even their sensei doesn't know why. The reason was that a metal fell from the back of the bus and the front tire run it over.
After Kazuki's explanation, they started to argue if they have to stay or leave which favors the conservation of energy presented by President Chiaki.
At the bus after making sure it doesn't explode, Kazuki and Amane are collecting useful stuff.
"Say, why did you start to argue with the club president?" Amane was not certain about Kazuki's purpose in arguing with the president.
"I argued on purpose, to cut her off before she could pose any opposition. If I didn't chime in, then about three days later, she might cave in and suggest we break out of here. But that would mean admitting that I was right. She can't do that." Kazuki explained it like it was nothing
"You thought it through that far. When I'm around you, I feel short of breath." Amane was feeling distant about how amazing Kazuki was.
After setting up the tent and the night slowly swallow the sun.
Kazuki was sitting outside exposed to the moonlight.
Amene who was getting anxious and wants to take to talk to Kazuki came out of the tent
"Hey, Kazuki..." Amane was bored and asked
"Kazuki, what're you thinking about right now?"
"Nothing. Just reading a book." Kazuki opened her eyes and answered
"A book?" Amane was confused
"I can memorize any book I see, like a picture, and read it anytime I want." Kazuki opened her eyes and answered
"I think it's time to sleep" Kazuki yawn then leap down and proceed to the tent
Amane look at the sky and thought ' What's going to happen to us now?'

Author explanation:
this chapter is happening after Raikou left the group. I think you're missing the point if you think Raikou is a joke for leaving them and experiencing hell. Raikou holds a grudge against the people that took Kazuki from him because of Old Yuuji's emotions and memories. And Kazuki's mentality was already mature and twisted in her own way. Like her jokes, although it was just a joke, she meant it. She doesn't care about anyone else and if Raikou was with her, it will ruin her chance of making a true friend which is Amane. Raikou wants Kazuki to have a friend like she wanted him to have friends because they love and care for each other.
About the mental attack or trauma, Kazuki and Amane didn't develop trauma because Kazuki doesn't care about other people and only care for Yuuji and Amane. Amane's case as she was guilty of leaving Kazuki which was the wish of Kazuki that Amane was to leave her alone with the rest of the crazy bitches. Although in the story Amane said she was scared of leaving them all alone but she didn't show as much as she was emotional when it came to Kazuki. Because the level of guilt and attachment when it came from the club member was almost nonexistent. She didn't even talk much with them and only hangs around Kazuki. I interpret it according to the sitting in the bus and the time she talks with others that she doesn't seem to know anyone except the people who are in charge and she was looking out the window in the bus like Kazuki which meant that she doesn't have anyone to talk to. Normally you would be facing someone in a boring bus ride if you have a friend which means she hardly knows anyone on the bus and she doesn't proactively communicate in episode 10 to 12 grisaia project.
