Chapter 2: Prologue

*BANG*

W-what? what was that!? I slowly opened my eyes to welcome my sight to complete darkness. I sat up, confusion and tiredness taking over my body. I rubbed my eyes to let them adjust to the lack of light and then I heard it again, that damned sound...

*BANG*

It echoed throughout the house, and my mind came to realization. I silently got up and stealthily rushed towards my parents' room. I was there by the door but something was different, my parents' room was now emitting a dark feeling that I couldn't quite describe. The door was cracked, but not enough for me to look through it. I opened it with caution and saw... nothing? No one was there. It confused me for a second but then I looked around; things were all over the floor, the bed was disheveled, and the closet door was open. There was this feeling of dread in my stomach that wouldn't go away. I decided to ignore it for now and wanted to look for my parents. I bet they knew what was going on.

I exited the room and made my way down the curved staircase. It was pitch black and I couldn't see a thing. I made a mental map of the house and tip-toed my way to the kitchen because that's where I usually found Dad. The moonlight peeked through the windows as it shown over the countertops. I was too short to reach the light switch, so it provided just enough light for me to see where I was going. When I neared the sink I stepped in something wet and cold.

I paid no mind to it as there was usually spilled water on the ground from my clumsy brother's late-night drinks. I looked around some more and yet again there was no one there, so I continued my search to the living room. I walked towards the towering black doors that led to the common area and a blinding light came through the keyhole. I peeked through it and found the fireplace fully ablaze, which was odd because it was the middle of August and mother hates it when it's lit in the first place, so now I knew something wasn't right. I used my strength to pull the dark, heavy doors open, but stopped when I heard talking coming from the inside.

"You should take your last breath thanking me. Adonis and his highness will give me the highest honor for eliminating you and the abomination you call a family." A fiercely dark chuckle comes from the unfamiliar voice scaring me to no end, and sending shivers down my spine. Even more curiosity came over me so I crouched down, trying not to be seen, and looked through the crack I made in the door. A few feet in front of the fireplace on the ground laid my father's nightshirt that he always wore to bed. It was torn and looked very dirty.

My question of who the voice belonged to was soon answered when a tall man dressed in all white stepped into sight. He was a blonde man with silver eyes, and he wore a white silk suit lined with gold and a long dupatta that draped over his shoulders, with a foreign symbol en-crested on his back with the same gold that lined his suit. It didn't take long for me to realize he had a black holster around his waist, in it was a pistol. I looked lower and took note of a small black handle poking out of his pristine white boots.

The man stalked over the remains of my fathers shirt and continued towards the window furthest away from me. He had a sadistic look on his face while staring at something on the floor but there was a couch in the way of my view so I couldn't see. This man was by no means giving off a safe vibe, but something told me he was the reason for all my questions. I watched patiently as the man silently looked out the window, the only sound present in the room was the crackling of the firewood. He then snapped his head towards the door and sniffed the air. It threw me off guard but I managed to duck my head with a racing heart.

I slowly lifted my head, not knowing if he saw me or not, and peeked through the crack again. I looked back at the window where he was standing but I couldn't see him. As a matter of fact it was like he vanished altogether. Did he leave? I cautiously pulled the door open some more so I could look for him but a powerful force pushed me into the room and onto the ground. I landed with a loud thud and winced in pain seeing as I landed on my wrist. I quickly looked behind me out of surprise to find the strange man a few feet away from where I was just moments ago.

He stepped back into the room with a devilish look in his eyes. He took a deep breath then spoke in a low voice "So it's true.. they really did have a kid." He looked me up and down and smelt the air once again, seeming to grimace as he does so. He slowly reached down to his boot to where I saw the handle before and pulled out a knife. He took a step closer but I scooted back towards the wall. "You look just like her, ya know that?" He said getting closer to me. I soon enough had nowhere I could run to get away from him, and he was inches away from me. "-And yet somehow your eyes are just like mine, you're a disgustingly interesting thing." He muttered in deep thought. I somehow found my voice to speak "W-who are you?" He paused for a moment "Who am I? Has your father not told you about me?"

'What does he mean? father never said anything about a scary man in a white suit' I thought with a confused look on my face. He looked behind him to the window where he was standing before "Aww min, my dear brother why haven't you told my nephew about me, huh?" he said in a cunning tone. I traced his line of view to where he was looking then, I saw it... it was my father, or what was left of him, on the ground. His mutilated limbs were in a bloody mess on the floor, and his dismembered head was on top of it all, his face barely recognizable and his once silver-blonde hair turned a deep red. 'D-dad?'. I felt sick to my stomach feeling horrified, tears instantly sting my eyes. I was numb. "You b-bastard what did you do to him?!" I yelled at him with all fear turning into anger; the man had a sickening grin on his face, the fire creating terrifying shadows on his features. "I just became a hero kid, the only thing left to do is to kill you." I couldn't take it anymore so I tried throwing a punch at him but he easily dodged it and quickly got behind me.

He had me in a hold I knew I couldn't escape from and held the long-forgotten blade against my neck. The cold metal glided slowly across my skin and I could feel my warm blood run down my throat. I used all my strength to keep his hands from going any deeper with the knife, but as soon as I touched him I could feel his skin burn. It was so hot that his skin started bubbling and turned to charred, black flesh. 'But it's not hurting me?' He let out a bellowing scream and released his hold on me. My body then acted on its own, I turned to face him and put my hands around his neck. The same bubbling effect happened and his skin soon turned black, he held his neck and staggered towards me. He was trying to say something but all that came out was blood and a strained gurgle. He was continuing to get closer with a black hand held out to me and the other holding his throat.

I once again was trapped and had nowhere else to run as I was now up against another wall. But I wasn't about to let him get me this time. I didn't know what I was going to do but I wasn't going to give up. At that moment there was a strange feeling that came over me, and a pulse of energy surged through me. I soon stopped paying attention to the being in front of me and I stared at the now roaring fire, feeling like it was speaking to me. I closed my eyes and felt my body be engulfed in the flames, it felt like they were apart of my body. Like they were always meant to be there. I opened my eyes again and faced the man who was now looking cowardly and scared. The man who came into my home uninvited. The man who took my father's life! I soon had no control over my actions and let all of my anger out on him, not sparing him a second. With a swipe of my hand, I sent him in a ball of blue flames across the room towards my father's remains.

He laid still on the ground for a while and my flames started making him melt, leaving a horrible stench in the air. I calmed down a bit but felt the fire leave my body and my mind become more clear. I'm not sure what just happened, and I don't want to know what happened, but I have to get out of here before the place burns to ashes with me in it. I pushed open the heavy door and ran through the kitchen and back up the stairs. I can't leave without my brother, my twin, Taehyung.

I ran down the hallway and halted at his open door; his lights were on as usual but he wasn't there, that made my stomach sink. I could smell smoke and see the hallway getting coated in a fiery haze, I had to find him fast. I turned around and ran back down the hallway to my parents' room and burst through the door hurting my sprained wrist. "Tae where are you?!" I yelled into the dark room. I heard a sniffle from the closet and I quickly walked towards it, but before I could reach it, a crying Tae came running out and jumped on me "Jimin I'm so happy to see you! I heard a lot of noises downstairs, so I came in here because I was scared but mom and dad aren't here. What's going on?"

I can't tell him what happened down there, and what I saw. Not now. "Everything's alright Tae, but we have to leave now!" he looked confused but his question was soon answered when smoke started to fill the room. "C'mon!" I said yelling to him. We both started running as fast as we could through the hallway and down the curvy staircase. As Tae bolted out the front door I glanced back at the living room that was now fully ablaze. Tae broke me out of my trance by pulling at my arm to move me out of the way of the now burning house.

We ran without looking back. Our mother's missing, our father's dead, and the only thing we have left of our home are each other. As far as Tae's concerned we're leaving behind precious childhood memories, but I know it's something much more than that.

Did I do it?

Every chapter after this is in 3rd person; it was just easier for me to do the prologue in Jimin's perspective.
