Chapter 29: Shisui's burial
It's been 5 days since Shisui's death, The ANBU, Root, and even the Uchiha used a lot of manpower to look for his body but they couldn't find anything.
Right now we are assisting to his burial, a lot of people present, it seems that some of the Uchiha resent Itachi as they think he may have killed his best friend to unlock the Mangekyou, but as of now expect giving him a dirty look they didn't do much.
After the end of the ceremony, I finally met with Itachi, I didn't try to contact him until now as I was afraid he was under surveillance, and I'd rather not take the risk.
Kayle: "How have you been Itachi?"
Itachi: "I've been better... but I have a few regrets... maybe if I acted differently he wouldn't be dead right now"
Kayle: "Well, too bad we can't change the past"
Itachi: "That's right... we can't change the past... but...we could have avoided this if we took what you said seriously"
Kayle: "What I said?"
Itachi: "Yes... sorry, Kayle... We didn't tell you about it... but you had a weird premonition in the past"
Kayle: "Did I?"
Itachi: "Yes... you told us Danzo would attack him... if we took you seriously I'm sure Shisui would be alive"
Kayle: "So you guys knew about the danger and still fell for it? quite lame isn't it? how come you didn't even tell me about my own premonition... are you guys even my friends ?"
Itachi grabbed his head with both hands and tears started falling between his finger, seeing that I started panicking...
Kayle: 'Shit...Did I go too far? why the hell am I even messing around with such a serious situation'
Itachi: "You are right... we should have told you, I'm the cause of his death..."
Kayle: "hahaha... Common Itachi raises your head... maybe the situation isn't as bad as you think.."
Itachi: "No Kayle... the situation is even worse than you think... Shisui was very respected in the clan, he could have avoided the worst if he didn't lose his life..."
Kayle: "Well... What did he say before his death? I heard you were the last to talk to him"
Itachi: "He asked me to protect the village and the clan's honor... If only I knew that it would be the last time I see him... I still have so many things I'd like to tell him"
Kayle: "Well...I may have a solution for you to talk to him once more, but you will have to trust me"
Itachi: "Do you?"
Kayle: 'Maru be ready'
I smile at him and do the slap no Jutsu hand seals, the moment I'm about to slap him he avoid my hand by bringing his head backward and he raised an eyebrow.
Maru: '...'
I smile awkwardly...
Kayle: "You have to trust me completely..."
I slap once more and but he avoids this slap too, I feel my lip twitching, why doesn't he take the slap like a good boy. After around 5 minutes of constantly slapping the air, he finally let me hit him.
We stare at each other awkwardly...
Kayle: 'Maru?'
Maru: 'ZZZ~~ oh took you a while... sorry I fell asleep while waiting'
Kayle: 'Just send him quickly'
Only then did Itachi vanish from my sight... I wonder why he avoided my slaps, well who cares I did end up slapping him.
Itachi POV:
I was really wondering why he was trying to slap me constantly, I used my Sharingan and his hand seals were definitely fake, the chakra in his body was calm and it didn't look like he was about to use any Jutsu, but then I suddenly saw that the environment in front of me completely chinging.
A few meters away was Shisui kneeling with his back facing me.
Shisui: "You came ?"
Itachi: "Yes...I wanted to see you once more time... I'm sorry I couldn't save you"
Shisui: "Save me?"
Itachi: "Yes... I'm sorry you...you are dead"
Shisui: "Itachi? I-I'm not d..."
Itachi: "I know it's too late now but I wanted to tell you that I always considered you as my best friend"
Shisui: "Buddy it's kind of embarrassing to say such a thing out loud, I'm not dead yet"
I slowly got closer and closer to Shisui until I could see the reason for his kneeling by looking over his shoulder, he was caressing the stomach of a very fluffy cat.
I smiled at him feeling reassured.
Itachi: "Look like the afterlife isn't that bad"
Shisui slowly stood up, turned around to face me with the fluffy cat in his embrace, and suddenly slapped me.
Itachi: 'What's the problem with everyone today wanting to slap me? wait... I can feel the pain'
Shisui: 'Damn... slapping people in the face kind of feel good'
Itachi: "You? you? you really aren't dead?"
I get slapped once more on the other cheek. After a ten-minute explanation, I finally understood most of the situation.
Itachi: "So you are saying... that you guys did that to awaken my Mankekyou Sharingan and to hide from Danzo?"
Shisui: "Yes that's most of it... and Kayle should explain everything to us later he didn't want to repeat himself so I don't know much more than you"
Itachi: "I'm happy you are safe... but I do have a slight suspicion about Kayle, I think he doesn't need to slap us to teleport us"
Shisui: "I think the same... but I have no hard proofs... should I use Kotoamatsukami on him?"
