Chapter 3: Chapter 3
It must have been hours before I finally heard her footsteps coming down the hall. I sat up and watched the door open, I sighed as I see Karly walk through wearing a cloak and holding a similar one in her arms. I get up and she hands it to me and drops a pair of comfy flats on the floor for me to slip on.
"Here, these should be more comfortable then being barefoot. I know I'm early, but I needed to leave soon before Aaron started suspecting me. Are you ready to take the silver?" She says to me.
I gulp, "No.. but I have no other choice."
She gives me a reassuring smile, "You'll be okay, we will get through this."
I step forward and embrace her, "Thank you Karly.. How could I ever repay you for this?"
She wraps her arms around my back and gives me a gently squeeze before pulling back, "You're helping me Marie, and maybe Aaron will eventually come around after not having you in his clutch."
I sigh, "Seriously though, If there's anything I can do for you.. please tell me."
She smiles and hands me a piece of paper, "Here's my number, make sure to call me when you've reached somewhere safe, Then we can talk after you've settled down."
I smile and take it, placing it in a small pocket in the cloak she then handed me. I wrap it around my shoulders and pin it together in the front. She smiles softly before looking towards the bag on the bed, I follow her gaze and gulp. I had taken the liquid silver out to take when I heard her knock. I walk towards it, gently picking it up and turning towards her.
"Don't come close to me If you see both my eyes turn red, Thats an indication that Levi has broken through."
I see her frown, but she nods at me and back away towards the door. I look down at the syringe in my palm and turn it so that I'm holding it against my arm. I breathe in deeply before plunging the syringe deep into my arm. I push down on the plug and watch as the burning liquid empties in my body. I instantly start feeling the effects and I fall to my knees, screaming in pain.
"Shhh! Marie you have to stay quiet! You are going to alert the guards!!" She exclaims and rushes towards me, holding me against her with her hand on my mouth.
I writhe in her arms, growling and whimpering. Trying to get out, trying to escape. All my animal instincts are screaming at me to run, to kill. I feel Shiver whimpering in my mind and Levi howls.
You will not suppress me!!
I flinch at his voice in my head, forgetting how deadly it sounded. I clench my teeth as the burning intensifies throughout my body, and I feel Levi trying to fight tit off but it engulfs him, I no longer feel his presence. I stop shaking as the burning becomes more bearable, I feel Karly's hold on me loosen and I slowly look up at her.
She gasps, "Oh my! Both of your eyes are bright green!"
I nod, "I do not feel Levi's presence, He will not be able to come out until all of the silver is gone. I however, do not feel great, I want to puke and pass out at the same time."
She helps me up, holding one of my arms around her shoulder. I lean into her for support.
"I am surprised you are still alive Marie, that would have killed you if you were a normal wolf."
I close my eyes as nausea washes over me, waiting for it to pass before opening my eyes again. She walks both of us over to the draw string bag and grabs it, She opens the flap of my cloak and tucks it into my pocket. She looks down at her watch and nods to me, I nod back and we head to the cell door. She opens it slowly, peaking out with her head. After a second, we both walk into the hallway. She grips my arm and wraps her other arm around my waist, we walk all the way down the hall and a man greets us at the entrance to the cell block. He nods at Karly and opens the door for her as we both walk out into a small room with a set of stairs.
I Blanche at the stairs, looking all the way up to see how far it goes. I almost puke my guts up right there, Karly holds me tighter as we start our journey up the stairs, one step at a time. I almost trip on one but Karly slams her hand on the wall before we both tumble backwards.
"Careful Marie, We need to make it up the stairs without dying."
I attempt to laugh, but I can't muster up enough strength. How in the hell was I supposed to make it somewhere safe when I could barely stand up.
We reach the top and she opens the door slowly, she listens and the slowly opens the door more walking both of us through. I recognize the large room as we make our way to the doors leading outside. I feel the wind hit my face before I see the glorious starry night sky, I almost cry out at the amazing sky I missed so much. Yes it's only been a few days but to me it felt like forever.
We walk into the forest and stay on high alert, Karly constantly watching around us, listening. I rest my head on her shoulder, now unable to hold it up. She looks down at me and rubs my arm. We continue walking for what seems like forever before she stops and reaches into my pocket, opening the bag and holding up the bottle of substance she made to keep my scent concealed. She lowers me to the ground so I'm on my knees and holds my head up long enough for me to gulp the bitter liquid down.
I make a disgusted look and she laughs, "I know, it doesn't takes very good, now come on we have a little while more to go."
She pulls me back up on my feet and we continue walking. I watch the scenery change around me, we break through the trees into an empty field. She stops and sniffs the air, Her eyes widen and she rushes forward, half dragging me.
"W-what going on? Karly wha-."
She doesn't respond, and then I see them, wolves break through the trees in front of us and I start to freak out. She continues forward, She unwraps her arm around my waist and waves it in the air at the wolves. The biggest black wolf in the middle of the group stops a few feet in front of us. Karly stops and holds her hand up in surrender, showing a sign of no intention to harm.
The wolf morphs into a man and I stare wide eyed at the most beautiful man I have ever seen. He raises his hand to the wolves behind him who instantly stop growling and stand ready to attack if need be.
"What is your business on my territory wolf and rogue?" He asks, I almost buckle at the glorious voice coming out of that gorgeously sculpted man.
Karly lowers me to the ground, and I rest on my knees, my head leaned against her shoulder.
"Please you have to help her! My mate has gone crazy.. He refuses to accept me as his mate and instead wants to force her to be his. He hurt her as a kid and found her a couple days ago, throwing her into a cell and refusing to feed her. She needs help, please I beg of you to help her." Karly says in a rush, looking behind her frantically.
The alpha walks forward and bend down in front of us, I look up into his eyes and I instantly felt safe around him.
"You risked everything too save your friend, even going against your own alpha and mate. But.. I do not have use for a rogue, what is to say she won't wolf out and attack us?"
"She isn't completely a rogue, she was kicked out of her pack by her parents, the alpha and luna of the pack. She's had a hard life ever since and I can't stand by and let my mate make it worse. Please, She's not a normal wolf. She has two. One she has no control over, She is laced with liquid silver in her system. The blood moon causes her other wolf to go crazy, the silver will keep it at bay. She's strong, she can be of use to your pack. Aaron will use her for bad, he will make her do things against her will." Karly reasons.
The Alpha's eyes widen. "Your the mate of Alpha Aaron?!"
She nods her head slowly.
"I am very sorry that you are mated to that monster. I will take your friend with us, and help her. You said liquid silver is in her system is that way she's like this?" He asks gesturing to me.
She nods, "As long as its in her system during the Blood moon she will not attack. When the moon is back to normal she will be back to normal."
He reaches forward to move hair away from my face, his fingers brush my skin and he snaps his hand away shocked. I gasp as sparks radiate from the spot where we touched. The alpha instantly grabs me, pulling me flush against his naked chest, wrapping his arms around my body and placing his nose in my hair.
"Mate." He mutters.
Karly makes a startled sound, "She's your mate!"
She wolves in front of us howled and growled, signaling company. Karly instantly gets up and before bolting into the forest beside us says, "We will talk soon Marie, Alpha please take care of her."
I watch her run into the trees before wolves burst into the forest behind me. I whimper and The alpha grips me tighter, He wraps his arms under my legs and holds me against his chest, standing up to face the wolves in front of him. I follow his gaze and see Aaron standing several yards away from us. He's growling and looks extremely pissed off.
He shifts and steps forward with a menacing glare, "You will return my mate at once!"
The alpha chuckles, "She is not your mate, nor was she ever. I heard you already found your mate, Alpha Aaron. But that you refuse to accept her as yours. How horrible of you to neglect your other half."
Aarons glare turns deadly and he steps forward the wolves behind him crouching low to the ground ready to pounce.
"She is MINE! You will regret ever crossing me Jace."
I look up at the alpha who's name I now know is Jace, he looks down and gives me a soft smile and whispers, "Everything will be okay princess."
I close my eyes and rest my head on his chest, he turns around and starts walking back into the forest. I hear his pack mates turning around and following him back into the forest. A little while later I start feeling the effects of the silver wearing off. I look up at my mate with frantic eyes, he looks down concerned.
"What is it princess?" He asks.
"The silver is wearing off." I say trying to reach into my cloak pocket to pull out the other syringe.
He stops and sets me down on the ground, churching next to me. I grab the bag and open it, pulling out the syringe. He takes it from me, and I look at him confused.
"What are you doing! I need to inject myself before it completely wears off!" I try to grab for it and he pulls it out of my reach.
"Let me princess." He says softly.
I stop moving, just staring into his eyes. He takes my arm not ever removing his gaze from mine, and pricks my skin with the needle, I only remove my gaze when the burning starts.
I let out a scream and collapse onto the ground, wrapping my arms around my body. Ever part of my body was screaming in pain, suddenly I feel my mates arms engulf me pulling me into him.
"Shh, Everything will be okay.. You can get through this." He whispers to me, as he gets up and continues walking.
I whimper, tears streaming down my face. My nails digging into my skin, wishing for any sort of relief. Eventually the burning becomes bearable enough for me to think. I look around and notice the trees getting thinner, and thinner. I see a large house starting to come into view, It looked even bigger then Aarons pack house. Jace sets me down near the edge of the trees and pulls a pair of shorts out of some bushes, before picking me back up and walking up to a large set of doors.
They open as soon as we reach them and a small women walks out. "Jace Darwin Harrell! Where in gods name have yo- oh my goodness who is this?"
She rushes over to check me over, looking for signs of injury, "Mom this is my mate, she was held against her will by Aaron. That arrogant bastard wanted to make her his mate, even though he already has one."
The women gasps, "Oh my that's horrible! This poor girl, that man is just awful. Come, bring her inside."
Jace follows his mother into a giant open room, with stairs on both sides of the room leading up to the second floor. They curved into a c and met at the top with a balcony like overhang. Dark red carpet covered the stairs and floor, while gold like railing traced the outline of the stairs. I look up and gasp at the large, glistening chandelier dangling from the ceiling, each crystal bounces hues of light all around the room.
Jace looks down at me as I stare in awe of the beautiful fixture above me, "Welcome to your new home mate."
