Chapter 1: Prologue (Death)

Vibrant green fields and clear blue streams, a land field with beauty and blood. Everyone who didn't live under a rock knew of the major happenings in the five major nations. War erupts like a plague across the land. The Elves secluded always on the defense wishing to stay within the protective nature that embraces them. The dwarves Strong infantry in the mountains never to waver but never to outreach past the home they know.

Humans ever growing numbers support their ambitions but threats from the inside cause distress to halt them. Demons have always reigned supreme. Though with their curse of growing weak past their ritual towers protection making it hard to expand and build more towers safely. Many other races that occupy the world have the honor to grace the lands with their own schemes. Always so many schemes and backstabbing.

Inside a large war tent in the grasslands of Olvaria; a large man spits on the report in his hands as he curses at the blue bloods or so called nobles who run the nation. They call upon him for so called treason for not attacking a fortress belonging to the dwarves that numbers with over 20000 while he has barely 2000 left; after an ambush from the beastmen in the black forest.

He curses the fates for the incompetence of these rulers over him and so he writes a letter addressed to his elder brother.

'Dear brother, I write not as a formal report and apologize for my informal action as well as for my disappearance. I can not meet up with your forces as I have been called upon by the nobles from my transgressions. By the time you read this, I will be close to Count Orvon as he will be overseeing my trial. I wish you the best of luck and I am sorry for not going under your command when you had asked. I know you were looking over me, but I needed to grow and now I know. I failed you and our family. I miss and love you dearly, in the next life I'll buy you a drink. Love your brother.'

Tears fell upon the letter as hands clenched around the now tearing letter. Black long disheveled hair fell as blood shot crimson eyes filled with anger and sorrow looked upon the letter one last time. 'First my father, you hold my younger brother as a hostage, and now you try to kill off my only other family I have left in this god forsaken world!' The man had stood upright and wiped away the dirt and blood from his face from the most recent battle. Donning his armor and weapon he strode out of his tent. "I am leaving."

Were the only words yet they brought a chill to the men around, most of the men immediately gathered their supplies and tried to catch up to his pace. One larger man rode ahead on his black stallion next to the man who spoke before who was now preparing his horse for the trip. "If you do this, there will be no going back, Alexios. As your friend and brother in arms, it is my duty to at least help you see reason. "Before he could continue, the man presumably named Alexios pushed the letter to his chest. The large man read the letter then looked at Roric with stern eyes," We can make it in five days if we push the horses."

Alexios smirked and said in a low tone. "We will travel to the nearest city which is only two days away, from there we will take a teleportation circle to the city Orvon resides. Even if we have to fight every guard in both cities to do so." With that his loyal men numbered at about 100,000 were now on the march.

Ten men were looking at a man in chains as he was dragged in from the large entrance doors. You could tell he was tortured with all the blood and bruises on him. 'Did they really have to go that far, he came here of his own free will and yet we still treat him no better than a rapid mutt.' Thought a man in a green tunic that matched his piercing green eyes as he was waiting for the "trial" to commence. It was short, that's what most people would say about it.

They called it treason, plotting to assassinate the king, yada yada yada. A bunch of bullshit if you ask anyone who was there not as the judges but as witnesses. Some saw the man before them as a war hero, some saw him as a top notch soldier, some even saw him as a man of honor that would keep his word no matter the cost. Yet all saw how he was dragged to the court yard for his execution. The headsman's axe swung down fast and with force. The man closed his eyes hoping his brother would live well now.

At that thought a large explosion sent a tremor through the ground as the castle wall's gate was blown off it's iron hinges. "Bruno!" a loud thunderous voice echoed across the courtyard. The guards atop the gate were shooting arrows non stop attempting to defend the castle but everyone knew how futile it was now with the entrance open now. In the smoke and soot a figure shot through sprinting covered in blood with his Red eyes faced forward looking at Bruno who had tears in his eyes. "Kill him now! Guards!"

One of the nobles screamed out as he pulled out his longsword from its sheathed only to have Alexios past him while swinging his Greatsword in a horizontal swing splitting the noble in half from the waist. Seeing this the nobles began to retreat deeper into the castle attempting to escape the fury from the rumored "God of War". Alexios knew practically anything revolving around war, battles and how to run an army effectively. He was a genius of geniuses in that aspect. It wasn't that he was bad in other things, just that his whole life revolved around war since he was six years old.

Bruno was a genius just not to the level of his brother. The only thing separating them were two things, one was Alexios being superior physically, and two, Alexios was a master in magic. He had an affinity towards every magic though he never used his death or shadow magic much unless for less than savory subjects. Bruno looked upon his brother with joy and swore he would follow his brother now till the day he died. With this teary eyed moment the man with the green tunic looked conflicted.

He was sent to make sure the task was finished but he didn't know if he could kill the "God of War". He took his dagger out from his shadow and swiftly vanished with a sigh regretting ever accepting the mission from his majesty. Alexios was chopping men in half and decapitating them left and right. Soon he would sing his giant sword and start killing almost ten men at a time with each swing. The guards began to have the feeling of fear creep up behind them and grasp their hearts.

They had families and only had this job because it was easy and well paid. Now they had to face every fighting man's nightmare, Alexios. Bruno was struggling against his bonds and was trying to free himself. A man was vanishing with every step in the crowd of guards till the giant armored back of Alexios was before him and he struck out with every ounce of strength fueled with his years upon years of training. His dagger speedily traces along the path the man destined for them, one in the side under the arm pit and the other in the neck. Alexios sense gathered from his experience raised his right shoulder and lowered his cheek to his shoulder till his helm and pauldron clashed and held a dagger between them, though with that lucky success came a sharp cold pain into his left side right above his armor.

Alexios swung his sword towards the new dangerous opponent only to look upon the man that vanished and reappeared a few feet away. He quickly grabbed for the dagger but as he did a throwing knife was launched at him so he twisted his back causing a sharp tearing pain in his side to flood his nerves but he narrowly dodged the knife as it sailed over him. "You are good, not only are you still standing but you even avoided not one but two of my attacks. If all of my attacks failed; I'd say you won but unfortunately for you, this is my win as long as I can keep you from healing that pesky knife wound, haha." As the man laughed, Alexios was thinking of everything going on, he wasn't stupid enough to think the knife wasn't poisoned .

The real problem was removing the knife and having the time to heal without having the rogue attack. The two quickly vanished from normal perception and clashed repeatedly, as Alexios was physically stronger, faster, and overall a better warrior, he held on through his wound. The other man was no slouch either though leaving small cuts here and there on Alexios as his body slowly became more and more numb till he fell upon his knees not being able to stand. The man smirked looking upon the so-called "God of War kneeling before him". Just as he was about to go in for the kill, Alexios launched his sword at him.

The man tried to dodge but the sudden attack was too fast and he had let down his guard a little thinking he had won after seeing Alexios fall. The sword went cleanly through severing the man's left arm off as it flew in the air while the man screamed in pain. The man casted fire magic to cauterize the wound while Alexios was able to remove the dagger from his side finally. Though before he could cast healing magic; the rogue came to him, tackling Alexios and and bringing his dagger deep into Alexios's shoulder before ripping it downward with a sickening tearing sound. Just as Alexios was about to fight back, He saw Bruno swing his own sword decapitating the rogue.

Bruno helped Alexios up, Alexios was relieved that he succeeded but paled when he saw the royal armies troops at the entrance of the courtyard. "By order of the king, Alexios Norcross and Bruno Norcross are hereby sentenced to death for high treason against the crown." With that Alexios and Bruno knew why this all happened. The king played everyone like fools, He wanted the power hungry nobles to lose power and he wanted the people's heroes to fall from grace so he can have more power. Well played Alexios thought while Bruno was about to have an aneurysm.

Bruno quickly stepped forward but Alexios put his hand on his shoulder. "Go, My healing magic isn't working on the poison. It must be a high tiered one. I don't have long to live, go and… and live your life like you said you would. Little Bruney, save our younger brother though and tell him, I'm sorry." Was all Alexios said before snatching a broadsword from a dead guard and a shield.

Bruno looked at him with disbelief before he swallowed the lump in his throat trying to say something… Anything but no words would come so he nodded and hurried off trying to escape. A few of the royal armies men rushed forward to capture him but Alexios swiftly dashed side to side sliding his broadsword across their throats as their heads flew high into the air. The commander looked at Alexios and muttered under his breath, "Damn this freak of nature, luckily he's injured but I'll still lose a lot of men… tch, this is going to be a long day." With that, the real battle began, Alexios swept through their formation as a bloody reaper till his dying breath.

Clouds overshadowing their battle with a chilling breeze that brought along an even colder rain that washed the blood to soak the ground beneath them. Alexios stared up as his eyes were devoid of life, the commander looked at him panting with sword in hand and a bloody gash across his chest wondering how this monster was fighting. Alexios had two spears in his mid section, A dagger in his thigh, and multiple arrows across his body.

The commander thought he was going to have to use his artifact but then looked closer only to see Alexios wasn't even breathing… Every soldier was on edge, no one truly believed the rumor's about Alexios, not till now. Now they saw first hand how he killed over 3000 men all alone while being injured, some say it was the love for his last family before passing giving him strength. Some zealots say the their god or gods blessed him for his fighting prowess and Pious lifestyle giving him strength when he needed it most. One thing everyone agreed on was that Alexios earned the title "God of War".
