Chapter 8: You are hurt !
Jasper watched helplessly as Locus , the snake beast snatched his female guest and took her away forcefully before his very sight ! He was groaning in pain unable to move, feeling annoyed and infuriated !
'I couldn't even protect the female who saved my life !' He felt anger rising in his heart but more than that he was feeling useless, weak and he was mad at himself for not being strong enough, for always lazying around and for being careless !
His mother Crysta watched everything from sidelines , right from when the Snake beast came to the castle looking for his white flower thief , when he attacked and almost killed Jasper , and to the very end when the snake beast took away Ying yue with him !
"Help him get up and treat his wounds" she said plainly to one of her henchmen , basically a fox clan servant , before heading towards her own chamber !
'Useless Snake ! What ? A third level beast?! And couldn't even kill measly one level kid ?!' She smirked hatefully .
When the servant came to help Jasper he just jerked him away and tried to get up himself !
He slowly and painfully walked , almost crawling towards his room without uttering a single word !
Rest of the crowd that has gathered in front of lion's castle also left after some time to go to their respective homes !
Locus has gone for hunting and not long after he brought back a giant lizard , when he came back he didn't even needed to enter the cave to tell that ying yue was not there anymore , furious at the thought that he should not have left her alone in the cave by herself, he hissed and flicked his venomous tongue ! anger rising in his dark pupils , he tightened his tail around the giant lizard that he was holding , the lizard that was already half dead spewed out the filthy blood before exploding with a bang and crimson blood splattered all over ....
He threw the bloodied dead lizard and ran in search for ying yue following the scent that the female snake , ying yue has left !
While on ying yue's side , It was almost the time for sunset and it was getting dark slowly , at this time ying yue was not sure where she was heading to, she noticed the sun was setting in the east direction .. ' this world sure is strange ! god just let me get back to the village !' She might have not noticed it but she has grown at least few inches than she was when she first arrived in this world and also her speed was slightly increased than when she has gone to fetch the antidote of a poison to save Jasper !
Well , she was so focused on running away from snake beast to notice anything at the moment ! In her hurry she stuck her tail in a rift of a big stone, she wriggled her body in almost all the directions but could not get her tail out of it and in that frantic movements another stone fell on her white scaly tail and she groaned in pain !
"Aah..!! Ouch ouch ouch !!! It hurts .. it's so freaking painful !" She cried in pain , still trying her best to get her tail out of the crack !
But even after several attempts she was not able to succeed !
She huffed tiredly , small tear droplets forming in her big green eyes , she was on the verge of crying...
She couldn't move from the spot as her tail was stuck beneath the stone and at the same time she can't even wait there and get captured by Locus once again , as she was sure he could trail her with her scent and could be here anytime soon if she does not move from here quickly ...
She cursed herself for not being more careful, for having such a bad luck always !
'I am doomed to be in pain , and death is playing cat and mouse game with me ! Why is it so difficult to have a normal life for once ?!'
After experiencing so much pain and difficulties in her previous life she was expecting the struggle of living painfully be over once and for all after her death and if there exists another life then god can pity her a bit and reward her with little bit better life , was that too much to ask for ?
But she still did not gave up and kept trying !
Meanwhile Locus was hurriedly moving pressing his giant snake body on the grass !
'Sss....!' he flicked his tongue trying to catch her scent !
He knew she can't go much further given her tiny body , but he was still worried about the other predators that might hurt her in an open wilderness! And off course , he didn't want to let her go yet ! He moved really swiftly and silently with only exception of a soft rustling of dry leaves and foliage crushing under his heavy scaly body !
"Trying to run away from me !" Jasper spoke as he caught a glimpse of her little head from a distance !Jasper's cold voice rang in her invisible ears , Jasper has managed to reach there way too fast than she has imagined ,
'Exactly how fast is this snake ?!'
She suddenly stopped her frantic movements and futile attempts to get her tail out of that god forsaken stone , she became stiff like a statue and she did not even turn her head to look at Locus when she heard his voice from behind ! She could tell from tone of his voice that he was really mad at her , She became anxious and her mind go blank due to overthinking, she could not even feel anything right now , not even the pain that hurt her so much just few seconds earlier, as if everything go numb !
Jasper transformed his upper body in his human form and approached her quickly,
"You won't be able to escape !" He said in chilly voice , yet he trailed his eyes over her to check whether she was ok, when he finally saw her bloodied tail stuck between the stone , his temper shot to his head , he felt like crushing that stone to powder right that instant but he needed to be careful so not to hurt ying yue in the process, he calmed himself down and with his immense strength he lifted the big stone as easily as if it was just made of a paper balls and threw it on the ground with a big noise, then he bashed the other cracked stone with his strong scaly tail to finally free her !
As soon as she was freed he hugged her instantly "you are hurt !" This time his tone was way gentle and she could tell from his expressions that he was worried about her ...
He seemed like a completely different person as if the cold blooded snake few moments earlier was someone else and not him !
He then released her from his embrace and inspected her injured tail .
