Chapter 18: Control

Violet felt her heart pounding against her chest and the blood surging through her veins.

After pulling her hand out of the woman's chest, the strong metallic scent of blood filled the air before them; the body dropped backwards seconds later in a thud.

Blood gushed out of the hole in her chest, and a soft gargle passed Ali's throat, mouthing a spell in the last seconds of her consciousness. At least let her death not be in vain, she hoped.

Violet released the still-beating heart in her blood-stained hand casually. Her morality blurred with her instincts; survival overpowering her conscience. It's them or her; that's the only way she knew how to live by.

'Plop,' the heart hit the pavement, rolling before coming to a stop.

Her eyes glazed over, and the once violet coloured eye slowly turned gold, and she lost all reasoning, all control.

The corner of Aldren's lip curled up, amused. He was surprised yet again; he knew that as a hybrid like himself, the platinum blonde had at least killed a few adversaries in her short lifetime. But at the back of his mind, he imagined her using magic to do the deed. And not with literally her own hands, and ripping someone's heart from their chest when she could have easily broken the person's neck.

He looked up at her, pride evident on his chiselled face. He knew she was more than just what he imagined her to be. And the more he spent time with her; his fascination seemed to grow more and more. She excited him, thrilled him. Something that he missed, after so many centuries of existing, not much surprised him anymore. Nothing made his heart pound against his chest in excitement; nothing like her before had made his blood rush through his veins.

"Well, should we go, darling?" he asked, standing up.

The next thing he knew, the air was knocked out of his lungs, and he hit the pavement in a painful thud.

And the one responsible was his self-proclaimed fiancee. She was in all fours, her hands baring her sharp canines at him. A guttural growl passed her lips. But what caught his attention most was the fact that her eyes had changed. It was now completely gold.

And it dawned on him that she possibly wasn't herself anymore, the wolf in her taking control—no reason, no logic, just moving on her instincts. And a werewolf's instinct was to kill vampires.

He pushed himself off the ground, gritted his teeth. He was pissed that for the second time that day, his body hit the floor, and oddly enough, it was caused by the same person.

"Darling, we shouldn't make a habit of this," he said, gesturing to his slightly ripped and blood-stained shirt. If she was conscious, he knew she would have gotten his humour.

"I liked this shirt," he added, suddenly disappearing from her eyes.

Violet's eyes darted from left to right, searching for her target. Seconds later, her back met the ground. Hovering above her, straddling her and pinning her sharp claws above her head with his hand, was the brunet. She was still weaker than him, he noted, but he knew the wolfbane in her system was responsible for that.

Aldren grinned down above her, revealing a syringe from his other hand and stabbing it to her neck swiftly.

He watched in morbid fascination as the woman screeched in pain, and he wondered whether or not he may overdose her.

'Too late to think now,' he thought. 'What's done is done.'

He just hopes that she lives; she was entertaining after all. He'd like to play with her more.

The moment she stopped struggling beneath him, he released her hands. He got off of her seconds later, listening to her slowing heartbeat.

Her eyes started to slowly shift colour, both returning to her brilliant violet ones, shutting close seconds later.

At least it worked, he thought. He bent over, picking Violet up with ease and walking towards his car.

After putting her in the backseat, he closed the door shut. Then, he looked at his reflection on the window, clicking his tongue in dismay at his appearance. He walked to the trunk of his car and pulled it open, then tore his shirt off. He grabbed a shirt from a black bag and put it on after wiping the blood off his skin.

The brunet then hopped in the driver's seat and fished his mobile phone from his pant pocket, giving instructions on clean-up and delivering the luggage to his Mansion where they were now heading.

.....

Leander and Magnus stood on the opposite side of the Parking, waiting for their signal. If he was honest, he wanted to be paired up with the GoP member, Ali, where the action will be. But unfortunately, they had a first-degree and a second-degree in their group, and it will be considered irresponsible to leave the two juniors alone together.

It had been 15 minutes since they separated, and he knew the two women should have returned by now or at least sent them the signal.

So as the senior between the two of them, Leander turned to Magnus. "Let's go," he said, causing Magnus' eyes to widen.

"We shouldn't; Ali told us that we should stay and wait for them." the First-degree insisted.

Leander narrowed his green eyes at the younger lad, "Are you questioning me?" he asked, pulling ranks.

Magnus shook his head, and he begrudgingly followed the third-degree.

He paused suddenly, after the third-degree's hand shot to block his path. He shifted to look at the brown-haired man with his brows furrowed together in confusion. Then his brown eyes widened in understanding and fear when he turned to look forward.

He opened his mouth, almost making a sound before a hand clapped over to cover it. With wide eyes, he looked at Leander, and the man glared at him in warning, a finger pressed on his lips in a gesture of silence.

Just a few meters away, getting on the black Bentley was none other than the dark-haired Abomination. Driving away seconds after.
