Chapter 29: Best Friend or a Fanboy
Uncle Lee appeared visibly upset throughout the drive back to Kian's apartment. The two didn't talk much while in the car. When they reached the apartment, Kian didn't immediately step out.
"I'm sorry I couldn't tell you the truth", he said, glancing at Uncle Lee. The older guy smiled in return, "I guess you're all grown up now. I was kinda hoping you'll tell me if I acted angry", he said.
"I'll tell you. But I guess not now. I'm already going through a lot. It'll be too much for me to come clean to you", Kian confessed. Uncle Lee could understand that Kian must have his reasons to hide something so important from him. He wasn't happy that his Kian, who was one of the most hardworking and ambitious kids he has ever had in his place, was making a decision that he was clearly against.
"Kian, listen to me. Do not let anyone pressurize you into doing anything. Don't get intimidated by hollow threats. I'm always here to back you up, you know that right?" Uncle Lee asked.
Kian smiled and dived in for a hug. "Yes, I know. I love you", assuring him that he had nothing to worry about.
Kian got out of the car and waited for Uncle Lee to leave. He then got inside the apartment building and climbed up the staircase. When he reached the door, he could hear the voices of people talking coming from the inside. He opened the door with his key and came inside just to find Elian sitting on his couch right next to Will and Declan standing opposite to them.
Everyone fell silent as they heard the door unlock. Kian could be seen standing in the doorway staring at them with a little frown on his forehead. He silently walked in, closing the door behind him, and saw some luggage sitting by the couch, where Elian and Will were sitting. Kian walked inside the bedroom without saying a word to anyone and Will followed him.
The two alphas looked at the scene awkwardly. Declan looked at his friend sadly, like a parent leaving their child for the first. Knowing what kind of hell his friend will have to go through, he wished he could just stay there with him. But deep inside he also knew that he was way too comfortable to spend even a night at this kinda place.
"Alright, I guess then I'm gonna get going", Declan said looking at Elian, who nodded back in response.

"Why did you let them in?", Kian questioned angrily as Will followed him inside the bedroom. "Well what could I have done? Stall them at the door?", the latter answered, surprised with the question, "I thought you agreed to him staying here, didn't you?", he asked.
"Ugh, Will he's not our guest. He's supposed to have a hard time here", Kian tried explaining to him.
"God! Can you calm down? He's gonna stay here for months alright. You'll have enough chances to give him a hard time. I don't hate him so don't expect me to participate", Will walked out of the bedroom, leaving livid Kian behind.
Kian couldn't believe that the alpha snuck inside the apartment in his absence. What a coward, he thought. If he could, he would just throw him out right now, but inside his head, Kian was also a little excited that he'll get to make Elian's life hell now. He can now take his revenge properly.
Knock-Knock, the sudden knock on the door pulled him out of the daze. He turned around to see Elian standing by the door, holding a sky blue tin box in his hand. "Uh..I'm sorry I came in without your permission, I mean, since you were out….so I just….", he said as he came in and sat on the bed, only a few feet away from Kian.
"Don't worry, you'll walk out of here soon too, without my permission", the latter snapped back. The alpha chuckled, "Okay, we'll see. Here, this is for you", he passed the box into his lap gently. The box had a white ribbon wrapped around the lid sealing it and tied on top with a perfect abalone knot. It looked expensive. Was this guy seriously trying to woo him with gifts? Probably, this is all he knows about dealing with people. Using money to solve his problems, Kian thought.
"Are you hoping that cheap gifts like these will make your life more comfortable here? Or are you just trying to win me over with your money?", Kian scoffed and flung the box into the dustbin sitting in the corner of the bedroom.
Elian looked at him, raising his eyebrows, wondering if this really just happened. "Wow", he said getting up, "Well, I'm gonna tell Irene I lost her cookies. Probably better than saying you threw them away", he said and got up to walk back towards the door of the bedroom.
Kian's eyes widened with shock, realizing that the box was actually a gift sent by Irene through Elian. He quickly got up and picked the gift from the bin, "Wait! Don't tell her that", he said, making Elian turn around to look back at him, "I'd tell her whatever I've to say myself, I don't need you to be the middleman for no reason ", he said.
"Okay, by the way, I'd recommend not wasting your time trying to drive me out of here cuz I won't budge until that contract ends", the alpha declared, and went back to the living room.
Kian could feel the steam coming out of his ears. He sighed wondering how he would spend time with that guy living in his apartment.
"Oh hey! Elian", Will could be heard talking from the other room. "We usually just order a takeout for dinner these days but if you don't like that I could also cook something for you." he said, in such an affectionate tone that it almost made Kian jealous.
He marched to the living room angrily. He wondered why Will was behaving like a girl crushing after some celebrity ever since he'd met Elian. How easily he gets distracted despite knowing how much Kian hates that guy.
"Uh...I've never had takeout before but I'd sure like to try", the alpha replied in a charming tone as if reciprocating to the advances.
"Never? Oh my god, then it is takeout for sure", Will's tone became more excited as he spoke, "There's this Vietnamese restaurant around the corner and we have a friend working there. They have amazing food", he jumped from his place and grabbed the landline sitting by the T.V.
Kian walked over to him, "What are you doing?", he whispered. Will turned to him looking utterly innocent, "What? I'm ordering food", he replied. "Seriously? Ordering food? Why are you talking to him like you're a fanboy? Remember, I hate him?", he scowled in a quiet voice.
"Ugh, I'm just offering food, Kian. We can't let him starve just because you hate him. That'd be rude", Will scolded and went back to dialing the number.
Kian turned around, and saw the alpha staring at the two, "You know this place isn't that big right? I could literally hear everything", he said. "Well, good thing it wasn't a secret", the former replied, casting a fake smile and marched back into the bedroom.
The dinner at the apartment that evening was the most awkward thing in the world, for Kian. He felt as if he wasn't even there. Accept for the time when once in a while the alpha would glance at Kian, who would just turn away his gaze from him in response. Rest of it was only Will asking Elian a thousand questions about everything. His brother, his ex girlfriend, the famous brands of clothing and fashion his company owned.
Kian wondered how did he even know so much about him?
Growing up Kian never once bothered doing things that fascinated Will, whether it was watching T.V at Uncle Lee's house every sunday or reading cosmos while pretending to shop at the convenience store. It wasn't surprising that he knew a lot more about the world than him. Kian had only spent his life working different shifts of odd jobs and studying if he found any time.
It was in situations like these that he felt somewhat left out. But today he felt so annoyed that he wanted to kill both Elian and his best friend with the chopsticks in his hands.
"I'm sleeping on the couch today", Kian interrupted their conversation. "Why? You usually sleep next to me on the bed?" Will asked. Kian rolled his eyes looking at him. "Well, Allis is gonna be home from tomorrow. So we should make sure we settle into our routines. And for you that means, to sleep on the floor", he turned to Elian.
"Kian!",Will hissed, hitting his shin with his foot under the table. "What? Didn't I already warn him that it wasn't gonna be easy staying here", he argued.
"You did and I'm fine with it. I've a sleeping bag with me don't worry", Elian assured the two, who were giving him a questioning look. "Oh, Deck prepared it for me. He thought something like this might end up happening. Plus the couch is too small for me anyways", he added.
As the evening wore out, Kian forced Will to go to bed, in order to make him stop talking to Elian. It only occurred to him that he'll be spending the night with Elian in the same room as him, when he set his bed on the couch and laid down.
The alpha was quietly laying on the cold floor, in his sleeping bag that was tightly zipped, placed just opposite to the couch. The room heater had been broken for the past few weeks but since the landlord wasn't aware of Allis living with the two in the apartment, he was never made aware of it.
Kian couldn't hear any sound from him, but he could tell that he was shivering with cold. Was he really going to spend all night like that? Would he catch a cold? But as soon as he realized that he was worrying about this person who had practically forced his way into his apartment, he didn't understand why his suffering wasn't making him be at peace. "It'd be good if he caught a cold, he'd probably leave then", he murmured to himself.
"I'm not leaving. And don't worry I won't catch a cold", a reply came. How was he able to hear that? Kian wondered.
"I'm not talking to you", Kian replied, annoyed.
"You are now. By the way, we're going to the doctor tomorrow", the alpha said in his soothing voice. "I'm not going". Kian refused and turned to the other side, like a stubborn child. Elian chuckled looking at him.
"I was talking to my baby. We're going to the hospital tomorrow", he flirted.
Kian rolled his eyes, listening to him, wondering why'd he ever agree to this ridiculous arrangement.
