Chapter 4: Act One: Chapter Three: Facing The Demon

Daniel Grayson,

When I left the church, the sun had already set. It was unusual for one thing, holding a priceless golden bookcase and acting normal. I was confused and uncertain as to what was happening. A Demon sounds about right, to what I saw. but what am I gonna do, start a fistfight with it? it all seemed like a joke.

I was going to wait until tomorrow, to head to my so-called quest. But the time to leave came sooner than expected. Once I reached my home, I rang the doorbell and waited for my mother to come and open it.

At that moment, as the air became still and there was this silent ringing. I was able to hear my heartbeat clear as the night sky and not to mention the cold sweat dripping down my forehead. It had started, the familiar weight had already started shifting and the fear, turning my stomach inside out. I remain frozen where I stood.

Straight ahead, from the corner of my eye to the corner of the street. The streetlamp flickering caught my attention, as soon as a tall figure appeared the flickering stopped. A thin and pale familiar figure, just standing there, its curved bald head reaching streetlamp bulb. A lot of things rushed to head at that point, one being the safety of my parents.

Suddenly my mother opened the door, taking my attention off the figure.

[Oh... Daniel, there you are, where were you?] my mother said with a warm smile

[I...I...]

I again looked back and it had disappeared.

[Daniel!] My mother yelled at me

My attention went back to my mother.

[Oh...hmm... sorry, I just went for a walk around the town]

I got inside, pulling my mother with me.

[What's happening?] My Mother asked

[I got' a...meeting with some friends of mine, I'll be going to the town over]

Without waiting for her answer, I quickly ran up to my room. I grabbed my bag and my bike keys, shoving the bookcase inside my bag. I quickly made my way down the stair and my mother was still waiting for me.

[Daniel, you just came home and I was going to cook, your favorite lasagne]

Oh god...why lasagne.

[Sorry, but I need to be there...Don't worry mom, I will spend the night at his place] I said while kissing her on the cheek

[Hmm...okay, Goodbye honey]

[Good bey mom, take care] I said quickly closing the door behind me

I didn't feel uneasy anymore. I quickly got on my bike and drove out of there. Under my breath I prayed to god, to keep my parents safe. As for where I was going to stay the night, I decided to go to a motel near the gas station. I was not going to drive a night while that thing was chasing me.

I booked room number two, which was on the ground floor. I entered the room, quickly closing the door behind me and making sure it's locked, next I made sure that the window was locked to and pulled down the blind as well. Giving the last look around, everything seems alright, I unnerving sat down on the bed, placing my bag beside me. It was quite, as I stared at the door, what should I do know. Going to sleep sounded very wrong and me imagining "What if it went for my parent?" didn't help the situation.

I rubbed my forehead in frustration, thinking of maybe getting some sleep. But oh the world had different plans for me. a knock on my door, made me look up at the door in silence. Then there it was, again and again, not stopping, sounding like someone desperate. At first, I didn't want to answer it, but until I heard her voice from the other side.

[Daniel...Daniel are you there, it's me...Please open the door.]

I couldn't believe it, it was Sophie's voice.

[Daniel...Please...I bagging you...Please open the door.]

No doubt it was Sophie's voice. Her voice was desperate, pleading with me to open the door. My heart was ringing in my ears and my mouth went dry. I was fully aware that it wasn't her.

[Daniel, open the door...Please, Daniel open the door]

Soon the voice started to grow louder and the knocking turned into loud hammering on the Door.

[Daniel...Please...Open the door...Daniel!...Please!...Open the door!...Daniel!...Please!...Open the door!]

That line was repeating over and over again. I tried to block the sound by covering my ears, it was of no use. Until I snapped and shouted at the top of my lungs.

[leave me alone!]

And the voice stopped, leaving me with the sound of my heart beating in my ears. Did that thing leave or not, I was not sure. I wouldn't dare to open the door, my eyes went to the window on the left side. The curtains were covering it. I got up slowly, holding my breath. I carefully grabbed the curtains and moved the curtain out of the way.

It was there, standing right in front of me, just a thin layer of glass separating both of us. I felt nothing, not a hint of fear, depression, or regret, maybe I could come to terms with what I was seeing was a dream or not. I became unable to move or to speak, only staring at it. It had changed from what I remembered. Its body was still the same as before, similar to a mannequin. This time the head was well-shaped, but still lacked features.

It still was tall and pale, but now its arms and legs were long and skinny, almost twice as mine. The only rather unusual thing was the presence of breasts and curves around the side of his body, which resembled a woman's body. It acted first, prising its hands on the glass plane and they started to pass through it. My body moved without my command, taking a step back, it felt numb, as if I lost sense.

First, its arms and then its elbows. Turning inverted and pressed against the inside wall of the room. It pushed itself inside slowly and menacingly. Until it faces entered the room, followed by its torso. Its head started convulsing violently. Its face started starching and ripping a small hole in the middle. Then a loud, perching scream in Sophie's voice emitted out of it.

The shock threw me out of the trance and I stumbled back on the ground, hitting my head on the side of the bed. The pain shot up and surprisingly brought my body and my mind together. Then the demon stopped screaming, it just quietly stared at me. Its mouth started curving upwards, forming a misshapen smile. And then it let out a silent giggle, just like Sophie did.

It was mocking me, I was filled with rage at the sight of this. Then suddenly It screamed my name, which shook the room. Repeating it over and over, like a busted speaker. The worst being, it was in her voice. My head pulsated with pain and it made my vision burly. Holding in the pain, I reached out for my bag and sunk my hand inside and I pulled the cross out. Just having it in my hand was enough to shut its fucking mouth, bursting into black mist and then disappearing. I quickly got up and cover the window with the curtain.

For the next few seconds, I stood there with the cross clenched in my hands. Just what was trying to do, Just what was I thinking, me hunting a demon, this sounded so god dame stupid. my vision became a blur, I was crying. I quickly wiped them off with the sleeve of my coat. I turned around and reached for my bag, noticing the photo of Sophie on the ground.

That familiar smile, one that I didn't try to protect. That time when I left for leed, played in my head. She was in tears but still sent me off with a smile. Not even once tried to disagree with me about it. Tears rolled down in frustration, my grip tightened around the cross. Just then I remembered what Simon told me, that I have to do my part. Then it was settled for me, time to make up for my past mistakes.

I left a little late in the morning. After a few hours of driving and I reached the rusted entrance of the town. The town was surrounded by forest and not in a very good condition, having its sheets filled with dust rather than peoples. Most houses were abandoned and those who had people living inside them were a little better looking.

Until one such house caught Attention, the nameplate on the entrance, read "Lucy Turner". maybe such was the sister of Mr. Turner. She might be able to help me and explain the condition of this town.

I ranged the bell and waited for a few minutes until the door opened and women came out. She was in her fifty's, with white hair scaring her black.

[Who might you be?]

[Hello there miss...My name is Daniel, Daniel Grayson]

She raised her eyebrow at me, studying my face for a second.

[And what would you want to form me?]

[I was just passing by and wanted to know... what happened to this town?]

She starred at me for a moment [Before you start demanding, do come inside]

I stared at here, this was not what I expecting [Alright, it would be my pleasure]
