Chapter 3: Chapter three: I was born socially awkward.

My right foot hit the speed brake and my ankle slightly hurts.

I sigh to myself nothing I can't manage.

Driving out of the parking lot, I decided that that boy was the last person I should deal with. I don't need to kill my brain cells trying to converse with him. My stomach grumbled reminding me that I still didn't eat, I should eat more often.

Reaching Wisconsin Avenue, I make a turn and the neon lettering appears home dinner.

The family-owned place where I work.

My phone ping in my jacket, reaching for it, I find a text from Janis asking me to go grab a coffee for her.

I walk to a close coffee shop and grab two coffees. Coffee had really become my endurance technique for the last years.

The streets were bustling with energy and I hurry over the dinner wanting to end the starvation, taking place before I start working. I am sure my stomach is already chewing a sandwich-sized hole through itself.

I push through the glass doors and spot Janis over the register, she smiles at me and leaves the counter.

We hug, and the coffee cups I am holding make it look weird.

"How was your day? I love the dress color on you, but you need another lipstick color to match it!", Janis says excitedly and I roll my eyes, "You know what I need? A hot turkey sandwich!", it's Janis's turn to roll her eyes at my almost drooling mouth, "A turkey sandwich, is it then? Take a seat, I'll serve one then you can start your shift", I do what she says and try to take a breath the rush hour is soon to take place.

I devour the sandwich in no time and Janis grumbles a cavewoman under her breath. She sips her coffee and makes her way through tables. I just don't have to look at what I am eating.

Time flows by, and I am wearing my blue apron, busy taking people's orders it's always hectic at dinner but I love the job all the same. Janis makes it enjoyable with her smarty comments.

I hold up a glass of water to a customer's table and write down his order when it rang in my ears, the same lovely sound.

I turn back and spot the rose tattooed guy laughing over something his friend is mimicking and a red-haired girl who's flailing her arms around him....his girlfriend?

They take a table near the corner and I walk to Janis hurriedly, "TheGuyIFoughtWithIsHereWhatTheFuck?", I nearly shouted over the counter and my friend shook her head concerned, "And here I thought you're okay, what are you trying to say?", She says confused. I know I am not okay I was born socially awkward.

"Janis I had a fight today with that guy, he is really rude and disrespectful and he's here now and I don't wanna see him", I say in one go. I really hate conflicts.

Janis explores the customers' faces her, "Is it the one with the black hair over the corner?", I nod and she smirks "a sex god isn't he?", I sigh he's a mean jerk.

Janis looks at me through her glasses, "Listen to me honey either you walk there and show him he's the wrong one or cowers back and let him walk his ass to the sunset?", She says and I bite my lower lip. She's right.

Janis adds, "Or I could go and flip him the bird, it's my parent's place after all", I smile at her last statement, she wasn't kidding though.

I grab my notepad, fix my dress, and march through tables until I reach theirs. I straighten my pose, "what can I get for you?".

I could sense his surprise. His friend beams at me, "Can I have a grilled chicken sandwich." he paused and looked down at the menu, "And a date with you next Saturday?". To say I was thrown off guard would be an understatement.

The blood reached my cheeks. I write down the order and muster a smile, "I am afraid that's not on our set of choices", I reply avoiding his eyes.

"C' moon Noah you flirt with anything that walks on two feet, let the chick alone," the girl whines, and I notice her half sitting at the chair and half sitting onto the tattooed guy's lap. Gross.

I smile at Noah assuring him it was fine and he shoots me a wink. My legs turn into jelly and I could feel his friend looking at me intently. I add, "Anything else?", The girl spoke up again, "A turkey sandwich, and coke Elliot?", She looks at him through her fake eyelashes and I feel my launch coming up. She is too clingy for the ever-loving God.

He untangles his limbs from hers and she frowns. "I only want a beer", his voice steady showing boredom. The inner me fangirls about his smooth like honey voice and I facepalm her.

I take his last order and almost run on the way back, he surely affects me.

I wish I'd never ran into him.
