Chapter 3: Broken Dummy

The two men that were watching Avalon train look at her in surprise. Even in their camp aside from the 'captain' no one else has broken a training dummy, and this small-statured 'man' just broke one right in front of them. The man that remained in the car smiled slightly in amusement before getting up. "Ah, Captain?! Where are you going? Ah, Captain er- Sir I'm not sure it's a good idea to bother them. Let's just ignore the order to bring someone from this unit. Sir?!" Maj. McCarty exclaimed in vain watching as the captain he was with made his way towards Avalon.

Let's just ignore the order to bring someone from this unit. Sir?!" Maj. McCarty exclaimed in vain watching as the captain he was with made his way towards Avalon.

A she looked down at the dummy she broke clicking her tongue as she continued to poke it with the sword in her hand. 'Well there is no way a normal training dummy could last against someone like me anyways I'm much stronger than humans anyways even with this lack of 'work', but I was holding back and it still broke in such a short time.' She thought looking at it.

the sound of footsteps behind her she didn't recognize and her eyes sharpened. 'I don't recognize these ones. Not to mention no one comes near the grounds especially when I train.' She muttered deciding to go off past experience she held on to her sword in her hand and spun around as she stood up and aimed the wooden sword at the intruder's neck stopping right before as something told her that she should.

"Here to try and kidnap me again-" She cut herself off as her sharp gaze widened in surprise as she brought the sword down quickly to her hand (acting like a sheath). "A-ah. I-I'm sorry sir! I tend to get wrapped up in training that I have a slight tendency of doing such." Roan gasped standing up straight.

"You didn't seem that wrapped up."

"Ah~" Ro laughed slightly looking away. 'It's worse to say I thought you were someone about to attack me. Since I'm of little importance in the army.' Ava mumbled with a slight smile.

"I see you've broken the dummy."

"Nnn~ yes. Sadly it's not the first time either, sir."

"You've broken them before."

"Yes sir. However, it's not that great a feat these dummies are not capable of withstanding such strikes. As they are a little hollow, these do well from hand to hand combat practice, but a training dummy for the sword tends to have multiple layers in order to lessen the impact forces. I have broken the sword training dummy I was using 4 months ago, and the captain told to substitute with these ones, sir." Ro answered honestly looking away slightly out of embarrassment.

"You're oddly honest about this."

"There is no reason not to be it's just a training dummy I can pay for it, it's not something I need to hide equipment brakes so why should I, sir." Ro replied with a relaxed tone.

The high-ranking officer looked at Ava who was fairly relaxed (though standing at attention as she should be). "It makes me wonder if captured you would easily give up secrets to the country." he asked looking at the 'man' with a sharp gaze from behind a pair of sunglasses.

"I would never give up on secrets, sir!" Ro replied quickly and sharply.

"That's hard to believe from someone from this squad."

"Though I can't argue with you on that sir considering what this unit is in itself. However, sir, I am not like the others' in this squad. As though joining was not my life's goal or anything of the sort… I understand the importance of such secrets, and I do not fear death in the slightest." Ro replied with hard eyes.

Avalon was not bluffing when she said that, as she has already died once before as this was her second life, so dying once more did not scare her in the slightest. Though she didn't really wish to be here or act like a man, however, she was doing such just to get rid of an annoying thorn in her side. She felt no real loyalty to her current country.

The man in front of Avalon looked at her for a moment, and she was well aware that he was doing so. The wooden sword in her hand couldn't help but catch his gaze once again. 'There is no reason for him to train with a sword, it is also uncommon for someone to learn how to uses a sword in this day of age.' He thought before waving his hand. "You are dismissed solider."

"Yes, sir." Ro replied with a salute before turning around before heading over to the storage room to drop off the wooden sword she was using as she left the storage room a man came up from behind her and wrapped his arm around her shoulder.

"2Lt Liman finished your training?"

"Lt Bailey, yes just finished up."

"You broke another one today didn't you?"

"… How'd you know?"

"You'd normally still be training otherwise that's why."

"Darn, such a stupid way to be caught."

"Is it."

"It's better to get caught in the act. Have you ever seen me break a dummy in half?"

"No, but it would be something to behold."

"See."

"Pff. Your probably the one in the best shape out of everyone in this unit."

"Mmm~ you are not wrong but my physicality definitely is better. Though I would say there is one other person who isn't that bad and a little better."

"True you are very thin and have such thin arms."

"Hey! I'm just small in stature compared to most men that doesn't mean that much!" Roan huffed acting hurt by her friend's comment.

'That's normal for women.' Ava muttered as she shrugged off the man's arm and speeding up her pace. "Let's get to the mess hall, I'm hungry after that light works out. So hurry up or else I'll get your share of bread!" Ro exclaimed with a smirk with her arms together behind her.

"Not happening I was planning on making a sandwich!" Lt Bailey exclaimed, Ava begun to pick up her pace when Lt Bailey raced over and tripped her causing her to land flat on her face. "Sorry, Roan but you are not getting my bread today!"

"Cheap shot." Ava mumbled before pushing herself up from the ground and lightly dusting herself off and racing over to the mess hall after Lt Bailey.

While going through this chapter I noticed that I used Ro (short for Roan [anytime it Roan it is recent]) but that changes in later chapters since the names only 4 letters long. When I come back to fix the grammar issues I'll fix the name issue to make it more consistent.
