Chapter 1: Chapter 1
Pain. Heart ache. Bleeding agony of the soul. As tears of blood seem to flow down my face, I curl up into a ball on my bed as I recall the scene that I had witnessed half an hour ago at my now ex girlfriend's apartment. Walking in to surprise her with the new cellphone that she had wanted, I to my shock and horror found Rachael and my best friend Kevin having sex on her couch. Both of them froze as they saw me, and I dropped the cellphone on the ground and ran out bawling my eyes out. I have been betrayed by those I thought would never betray me. Why should I even consider living any longer? I have no one else in this world. I was orphaned at a young age and grew up in the system. Luckily I didn't turn out like most people in my situation did, and now here I am 29 years old this year and ready to settle down, only to have my heart stomped on by the ones that I love.
As I held a kitchen knife toward my throat ready to end it all in my bed, there is a sudden knock at my door. Thinking that it is my ex or my ex best friend, I yell for them to go away. Suddenly I hear a muffled voice say that I had received an inheritance from a grateful party and was asked to open the door. Confused, I went to the door and opened it to find a beautiful girl in a black business attire standing outside with what looked like a team of lawyers with her. Now what is going on?!
"Evening Mr. Clyde. My name is Sarah Burgess and I am the personal assistant of one Jerome Clein CEO of Virtech Enterprises. I am here on his behalf to thank you for saving the life of his daughter from a group of rapists 3 years ago. I am to inform you that all of your debts have been paid, and have been instructed to give you this black credit card assigned to your name with an amount of $50 billion USD contained within. Now, if you will just sign this paperwork with me and these lawyers as witnesses we can move along to getting you your just reward."
Feeling my jaw drop, I suddenly recall I did in fact try to help a girl three years ago. I got my ass kicked and the girl was crying afterwards as I fell unconscious. However, she had apparently managed to call the police because I was taken to the hospital and spent a month in recovery before I could leave. I am still paying off the hospital bill and my credit card debt. Now it seems I no longer owe such debts, and am now one of the richest people in the world. Feeling the unreality of the situation as I signed the final document, and receiving the card with the temporary pin number, I watched numbly as Mrs. Burgess and the lawyers all left my apartment.
To think that I had just been about to off myself right before I became one of the richest people in the world. Enough of that. I need time to recover from the shock, and the best therapy for shock is good old fashioned online shopping, take out chinese, and of course the legendary and always popular video game montage! Calling my bank and setting up my own pin for my new card, I got onto my laptop and began to order a ton of new and expensive clothes to be delivered to my apartment. As I was searching for good stuff online, a popup ad appeared suddenly on my screen.
"Do you wish to be unrivaled under the heavens above, and the depths of hell below? Do you wish to shake the very cosmos with your might? Are you seeking immortality and endless growth potential? Then seek no further, for we have what you seek. Do you wish to be reborn? [Yes] [No]"
Laughing at the hilarious cosmic joke of an ad I clicked yes without hesitating, and suddenly I blacked out.
