Chapter 11: Chapter 11: A special meal

"Wow, just wow." Soren said with an open mouth and a shocjed expression on his face. He couldn't believe that he learned such an ability, under these circumstances.

"So judging by your expression, I believe you know Sword Aura, am i correct?" Rohan asked with a proud look on his face, like he was saying: "I told you so." .

" I did, but it's an incomplete version of it. The problem with it, is that I can not use it upon my will, so this skill will just appear randomly whenever i fight." Soren explained with a hint of confusion in his voice.

"An incomplete version of it? What do you mean?" Rohan asked with a confused expression.

"Kyuu~? Kikikyuu~?" Lavenza seemed confused as well.

"This is a first for me. What do you mean "an incomplete version" of the skill?" Jay asked as well.

Soren looked at them looking a bit confused as well. He thought it was pretty obvious what an incomplete skill, thanks to his basic knowledge on video games that was learned from his friends, whenever they invited him to play.

"It is exactly what it means. The skill itself isn't complete. I can only use a part of its power and i won't be able to use its full power until i learn more for the skill, or i become more powerful so i can handle the repercussions of using an incomplete skill. In this case however, I have no control over this skill. It could appear at a life and death situation or it could also appear at a random battle with a small critter. That is what an incomplete skill is. Now as for the reason of it being incomplete, the description said that I forcefully awakened this ability in combat, instead of the normal way, so i guess that is the reason for it." Soren explained with a thoughtful expression.

"I see. This is definitely an interesting way to put it, but how is it possible? Even if you somehow tried to replicate a skill, it should be completely impossible to activate it without seeing or even hearing about it once and as far as I know, you never knew this ability even existed. So how is it even possible in the first place? Or did you manage to somehow recreate it out of nothing? Either way, you somehow did the impossible and even if this is not the complete skill, it still shows that you have the ability to break through your limits when the time is needed for it." Jay said for a while.

While Soren and Jay were having the conversation, the ceiling started to darken, indicating the end of the day was coming soon.

"Anyways, the day is almost over and it's almost time to close the guild. Now, let's get going. We can always talk about this tomorrow. Also Soren, come tomorrow to get your adventurer ID." Jay said after noticing the lights on the ceiling dimming out.

After the four of them left the training area, Soren, Rohan and Lavenza left the guild together, after saying goodbye to Jay. After swimming through the streets for a bit, Rohan decided to ask:

"So what will you two do right now?"

"Hmmm... I don't know. To be honest i was thinking to sleep the night on the streets or at a park, since all of my stuff was stolen before coming here. If it wasn't for that abandoned fort to the east, I wouldn't have clothers to wear in the first place. That would have been truly embarassing." Soren said jokingly.

"Hmmm... You said that you found these at a fort to the east, right?" Rohan asked a bit curiously.

"Yes, I did." Soren answered back immidiately.

"Did you tell Matt as well for the fort?"

"Yeah, I did, after all that was where i spent the last night in the wild."

"Then, did you notice anything out of the ordinary?" Rohan asked with a serious expression on his face.

"I mean, the things that i noted were the name of the fort, which was the Border East Garrison Fort, a journal that had a few entries, but most of them were too hard to read, since the ink had faded and a skeleton of a giant sea serpent of sorts. Oh, also near the fort was where I hatched Lavenza, since she was mostly buried under a coral tree. Aside from that, nothing else comes to my mind." Soren decided to give most of the details, but he left out a couple of details on purpose such the battle with the undead leviathan and the lack of monsters near the fort area. For the battle, he obviously wanted to hide the truth behind it, lest he wanted trouble, as for the monster situation, he didn't feel like it was important so he didn't bother mentioning it.

"Hmmm... Guess I'll have to thank you for your information. After all, you did provide me with some information that will help my brother's investigation. You know what, since you don't seem to have a place to stay the night, how about you stay at my place?" Rohan asked with a happy expression on his face.

"I don't have a problem, but why are you willing to help us?" Soren asked feeling a bit suspicious.

"Two reasons. One, you provided me with some pretty useful information for me and my brother thanks to your little story so that is enough to pay you for something, since information is always worth its weight in gold. And two, you showed me quite the skills and arsenal that you had in that little exam battle and I want to hear a bit about how you came up with them? After all, a good story is more than enough to make a night exciting." Rohan, explained happily. He felt like he had a great day thanks to this duo, so he had to repay them in some way, but he didn't want it to be free, otherwise he would make himself look suspicious, hence the questions and his explanation.

"Then I guess I'll have to take on your offer, Rohan." Soren answered back. Then Rohan said:

"Glad to have so-"

*groan*

"Sorry guys, I guess that little one-on-two made me a bit hungry. Let's make our-"

*GROAN*

"Sorry, that was actually me. I haven't eaten anything all day." Soren said next.

*groan*

"Kyuu~..." Lavenza had an embarassed expression on her face.

"I guess that battle made us all burn all of our fuel for the day. Tonight the dinner is on me. Come, I know a good place to eat." Rohan said happily. Soren and Lavenza followed right behind him. The streets themselves at night had a lot people swimming around towards shops and there even some carriages that were being pulled by sea horses.

After swimming for a little while, the three of them made to a food stall with a sign that said "The Hungry Clam". The food stall itself had a counter with 12 chairs around it with sime people sitting on top of them. Soren and Rohan sat down on two of the chairs while Lavenza sat on the counter, between Rohan's and Soren's seats. Once they sat down, the man behind the counter then noticed Rohan and said:

"Hey Rohan, still helping children getting back on their feet?" The man looked at Soren as if he was some homeless child that was living on the streets.

"You know that old habits die hard Shaun. I can't exactly help it. Besides this time, I'm not bringing some homeless child with me. The kid is a new adventurer, and as his examineer, i had to take care of the celebration by taking him to a meal." Rohan explained happily.

"Fresh blood for the guild huh? Then buckle up, cause one special is coming right up for the two of you." The man named Shaun said.

"A special? Make it on the house then." Rohan said jokingly.

"Sorry but it's on the house only for the kid. If you want a special, then you have to pay Rohan." After that, Shaun started cooking the dishes.

"Then I guess I'll have a normal clam ramen then." Rohan said feeling a bit dejected.

"Ummm... You seem to know each other, aren't you?" Soren asked curiously.

"Rohan has been coming to this stall for at least five years. I have seen him come everyday to this stall, being either dirty, injured or at some times, even half-naked. This guy has been my regular so, of course we also have a friendly relationship between the two of us." Shaun explained for a bit.

"Actually me and Matt have coming here for 5 years ever since we became adventurers, so after each mission we would always eat something from this stall. Sometimes i would bring some of the children from the church and eat something."

"I see. You probably had all kinds of adventures that always ended with a meal from this stall, right?" Soren asked.

"Not always, sometimes my adventures would end at the infirmary, while eating porridge. This is what i get for getting heavily injured." Rohan said with a high and mighty attitude.

"I don't think that should be something to brag about."

*clack* *clack*

At that moment two bowls appeared in front of them. The bowl in front of Rohan was medium sized and it had open clams and noodles inside of it, while the bowl in front Soren was large sized and it had quite a few open clams, noodles and a few other toppings that Soren didn't recognise at all. The moment Lavenza saw the bowl in front of Soren, her mouth started to water down like a waterfall.

"Enjoy your special clam ramen kid. Seven different topics that range from spicy to sour, a dozen of fresh clams and noodles, enough to stuff yourself three times and still have leftovers. A prize for entering the guild through this strict guy's test." Then Shaun pointed at Rohan who was eating his bowl of clam ramen.

"Hey, I'm not that strict Shaun. Don't go ruining my meal now." Rohan said angrily.

"Oh well, time to dig in." Then Soren grabbed a pair of chopsticks and started eating. The meal itself tasted amazing and he couldn't stop eating. He also gave noodles to Lavenza for her to eat, as well as half of the bowl's clams. By the time Rohan finished his bowl, he saw both Soren and Lavenza still eating out of the special bowl like a couple of hungry wolves and started laughing.
