Chapter 2: Chapter 2* Harder days
It's been two weeks since we resumed and it has been horrible.
First I discovered that learning's gotten a lot more harder for me,I didn't really know if it was the change of teachers or if it was me lacking concentration.
I seem to understand nothing during chemistry classes,physics classes, biology classes...ok pretty much all sciences and guess what I wanna be a doctor..
I didn't know what was happening to me.I mean I ..and Ven used to be one of the smart ones but that was quickly fading.
Ven as usual felt less concerned but I knew well that if I failed my science subjects, my dad will make me switch to arts faster than I can say.."fuck"
It was a Friday and not just any Friday. Our interhouse sports were beginning and I knew I would have to participate in something but I didn't know what yet.
We were having the last class for the day .. English
English classes are really fun because our teacher Mr.white was the type of teacher who didn't really care...at all.
So we made a lot of noice and were laughing except faith.
Faith has really been a pain in the ass lately..first she thinks she's some kind of Einstein to the rest of us.
Secondly,you know those long classes before games or lunch where it seems time stops moving.
Yeah ..and when the teacher is about to leave faith would stand up and start asking the teacher annoying questions,which could keep him in class for another thirty minutes..
Yeah I know,I'm not supposed to be annoyed at a student asking questions when she doesn't understand but they were really annoying,and most of the class disliked her for that.
This one time a few of us confronted her to ask her why she was like that and she said
"I'm the kind of student that always gets perfect grades and I'll like to keep it that way"
I didn't know if she said that out of fear but it was rude and disrespectful..
I and Ven were really pissed.
"Dude we'll see how she does by the end of the term" Ven said angrily.
"Chill bro she's gonna soon find out that things here aren't always what they seem" I said smiling.
So English class was finally over and we were all anxious to change into our sports gear and get prepared.
"Make sure you submit your assignments on Monday" Mr.white said reluctantly.
"Yes sir I'll personally submit my own" Faith yelled from the back.
"Yeeeee more work for me" Mrs White said weakly.
"That girl's a real douche bag" Ven said annoyed.
"Let's just go" I said as I grabbed my bag and put some of my biscuit wrappers into Ven's lonely locker.

We changed and met Elvis,Max and Fortune at the field.
"So what are we doing first" Max said smiling and looking at the football pitch.
"Oooh no" Ven replied knowing how horrible he was at football.
"Just give it a try" Fortune and I said ..but we soon regretted that decision.
"Ok.. let's do this" Ven replied.
I , Elvis and Ven were in the yellow house (unity house)
While Max and Fortune were in the green house (valour house).
We really tried our best to be in the same house but sometimes things don't always go our way.
Luckily the first match was the yellow house vs the green house..
Elvis just said he wasn't playing and nothing was gonna change his mind..
"Let's go out there and show those green dicks who's boss" our coach yelled..
That actually encouraged me and Ven.But as usual it irritated Fortune..we both looked at him and smiled.
The captains took their places and at the sound of the referres whistle the match began.
My heart was pounding because I knew I wasn't so good at striking but the coach insisted I was top striker.. something he said about being the bait..
When I looked at Ven at the back I got relieved as he was quivering like an old woman placed in a cross fire...
I made him notice me, I then started laughing heavily and he gave me a big fuck you sign which didn't seem like much at first until I was kicked up by Dicky ..one of the roughest players in green house and the referre didn't even signal a foul..
Dicky passed on to Fortune who tried to dribble but tried and fell...ouch, it's like he was injured but of course the game continued.
Max somehow got the ball and dribbled all our defense ..Ven was our last defender at the back ..the crowd was in suspense, everybody watching what Ven will do...But as Max drew closer,Ven fainted right there in the pitch and Max just went round him stood In front of our Goalkeeper and somehow he scored!!!!
The crowd cheered...then as the injured players I ,Ven and Fortune were substituted.

We walked up to Elvis who was in the corner just laughing..
"Shut up Elvis, we know" Ven studdered.
"Ok guys let's go find something else we are really good at" Elvis said.
"Yeah guys,I mean look around there's a lot of games here ..we have to be good at least one" Fortune added.
And that's when I saw it ..a bunch of nerds playing chess
"Hey guys I'm gonna go play chess" I said confidently and left.
"Ok...I'm going for Scrabble" Fortune said and walked away too.
"Ooh yeah,is that table tennis..hang on Elvis I'm about to show them how it's really done " Ven said and bolted away.
"Ok then...I guess I'll join high jumps" Elvis murmured to himself.
When I got to the chess club they said the yellow house had already chosen their champion ...it was Richard.
I kinda got scared when they said he had to beat Ten seniors to take the lead ..but I have been taught the art of playing chess a long time ago by my cousin..leroi.
I looked into Richard's eyes and saw overconfidence and that's what my cousin taught me first..he said
"When you see overconfidence in your opponents eyes .. victory will be easier for 'pride comes before a fall".
I smiled and began the game just as quick as I started..
"Check mate"
I screamed and the whole yellow house chess club members started screaming my name and it felt ...good.
Fortune had done really great at Scrabble and has taken the lead in green house as expected.
So we both went to see how Ven was doing.
"And that's 9 points for Ven" we
heard our table tennis captain say.
Whoa ..Ven was really trashing them like a pro and I was very surprised ..Ven was actually good at something that wasn't flirting..
"And Ven takes the lead spot" the captain announced and the yellow house Tennis players started chanting his name..
He was waving his hands and was about to begin his Victory boast speech when I grabbed him out.
"Bro..you never told me you were good at Tennis" I said rubbing his shoulders .
"And you didn't tell me you were good at chess..Bro you just beat Richard that guy is like a chess legend" Ven screamed.
We went over to see how Elvis was doing ..as we were reaching the high jump pitch,we started hearing them screaming his name,so we knew he did pretty well.
Max's team had won ours 3:0 and Max scored 2 goals so that means he did well too..
And everything seemed to work quite well for us.

We were on our way to change and start heading home when I saw something that caught my attention..it was the races.
They were about to run the 200metre race and I saw Chelsea looking at them..
I wondered why for a moment and then I saw David ..he was in the race.
"Guys I'm joining the race" I said throwing my bag at Elvis and running to meet the officials.
"Is he crazy" Max said annoyed.
Announcements please we have a new racer from yellow house.. "what's your name again kid" the official whispered In my ear.
"It's Jeffrey" I said smiling.
"Ok ..take your marks"
As the race was about to start I felt someone come close to me .. Behold it was Chelsea.
"I hope you win" she whispered in my ear.
Oooh ..I felt like a demigod,so strong and confident.
"I have to win" I told myself.
There where two opponents from each house ..red ..green..yellow..
Blue...and orange.
The most outstanding from each team will be chosen to represent his house in the interhouse sports.
"On your marks"
As the official said this I felt my blood become cold and my heart began to beat 10 times faster.
"Set"
"Go"
And the races began..I saw David already in front and I couldn't let that happen, suddenly I didn't know how I was doing it but I was pretty fast.
I passed all other opponents except David..I kept on running and getting closer to him.
We were now tied at the same speed now...but as we got closer to the finish line I saw Chelsea.
She seemed pretty happy and I heard her scream something like faster...go faster.
At this point I knew that if I passed David..Chelsea would want nothing to do with him ever again.
And suddenly I got faster..I saw the surprise in David's eyes,he didn't expect it but I passed him.
"And ...Jeffrey wins for yellow house as 1st" The official said.
David will be representing red house.
Dicky will be representing blue house.
"oh..that dick was even the race" I thought to myself.
Franklyn for green.
And finally Jason for Orange.
As I was being congratulated by my team..Chelsea came up to me and said congratulations with a peck on my cheek.
For a moment I froze..then Ven tapped me out..
"Bro ..you did it" he said laughing.
"Yes I did it....I did it!!!" I screamed.
That was the best day of school I ever had.
But little did I know that it was only a preparation for the 'harder days'.
