Here we sat in another one of my parents' excuses to invite their business partners over to have a "break" at business, only to talk about business in a less serious, yet still serious way.
My parents were the great Leonardo and Cayetana Herrera. My dad is a retired politician, and booming business man in the liquor industry. Being the big and mean Leonardo "Nardo" Herrera, he had so many connections it was quite unbelievable.
And my mother Cayetana Lopez-Herrera the heiress to her parents' magazine business, that does well in California. Though that's not how they started off, my dad was a cleaner who stood by his people, and slowly moved up ranks to get to be a Congressman here. My mother took her free time to start a blog, write some books, before she got noticed and finally became a successful business woman.
My father originated from Spain, while my mother originated from Ecuador. Though my mom was half Hispanic, she was also half Italian.
"Carolina it is so nice to hear that your business is booming once again. I hope to see you at the annual ball next week," my mom chuckled at Jonah's mother, who has been her friend since high school.
Well I mean they all have been, even Jack and Zach's parents, though they moved away.
"We hope so as well Samuel and I have been working hard to build up this branch," she chuckled, cupping her husband's arm.
"Raymond how's the beer company going?" Dad asked Corbyn's dad while his mom, Sabrina, continued a conversation with Alexandra and Dante, Daniel's parents.
"It's been progressing not enough time to keep growing though," he laughed, then they all laughed while us kids were sat confused picking at our food instead.
"Kids why don't you all go upstairs and hang out, hm? These conversations are a bit too boring for kids your age," My mom said while patting me on the arm.
We all walked up, as we would usually do to my room. On nights like these all we would do we're just sit and talk, that's how we became closer than the rest, I think.
We've spent so many hours up here before that we practically already know what to do.
"Ready for another sleepover?" Jonah asked as he knew the adults were more stressed than before, therefore they would drink to their hearts content and eventually pass out on the couch and go home in the morning.
"Let's go," Corbyn exclaimed.
We spent the night slowly drowning in movies on movies and whatever snack Nanny Frida would bring up.
It was nice to be like this,
With my friends,
Happy.
