Chapter 8: A Tsundere Friend?
It wasn't long before Adam and Mikasa arrived at the mansion. When they arrived there a lady was waiting for them at the entrance. They walked up to her to speak to her, "Where do I have to sign" asked Adam.
"Are you Mr. Lochner?" she asked confused.
"Yes, that is me is there any problem".
"No, I'm sorry here you just have to sin here". The woman was pretty confused at how a child has enough money to be buying a mansion but just took it as his parents being the ones who bought it for him.
Adam grabbed the paper and signed it then handed it back to her.
The woman didn't need to be there anymore so she took the signed paper and left.
Now that they were alone Adam finally got a better view of the house. It was 3 stories and it seemed to be 100 meters wide. It was built in a European style on the outside with a bit of a medieval feel to it. Walking inside there was a giant entrance with a golden chandelier on top of it, in the hallways, there were a lot of paintings that Adam drew. They could all be called masterpieces but Adam usually just draws them for fun or when he feels like it so they don't really do much besides sit inside his vault.
Once they were done exploring the giant house they made their way to the master bedroom where Adam would stay. As Adam walked he stopped and turned towards Mikasa and asked with a confused voice "Why are you still following me? Shouldn't you be finding your own room?"
Now it was Mikasa's turn to be confused. "Aren't we going to share a room? We're a couple so it would make sense".
"That makes no type of sense Mikasa, go find your own room'".
Dejected by his words Mikasa turned around and was about leave to the room right across Adam's but stopped when she heard Adam's next words.
"You can stay in my room if you want but you still need a separate room to have all your things".
Now in a better mood, she leaves to her new room while Adam decides to go outside and view the surroundings.
Once outside Adam saw that there was a smaller mansion next to theirs and decided to go and check it out. When he was about to knock on the door it was slammed open and a girl with a red sweater.
"Who are you?! What do you need?" she asked
"Woah there no need to be so aggressive. My name is Adam Lochner and I just moved into the mansion next to this place. I just came to introduce myself."
"Hmm, Is that all you need".
"Well yeah but now that I know someone around my age is living here let's get to know each other," Adam said.
"Why do I have to get to know you? Just leave I'm busy".
"What's a 12-year-old busy with that they can't make time for a conversation? By the way, what's your name?."
After a bit of hesitation, she spoke up while pushing Adam away from her door. "My name is Rin Tohsaka now leave!!"
"Well it was nice talking to you Rin, I'll be back later with my friend so you guys can get along with each other and we can all become friends," Adam said as he left as ran away from her before she explodes.
Processing what he just said Rin was left in a daze for a few seconds before coming to her senses and yelled "Who said I want to be your friend and don't call me by my name. I don't want to see you back here" and with that, she shut her door close.
Adam was laughing the whole way back to his house. It was really fun to mess with Rin. He knew who it was right away but acted clueless since it was the first time they met. But now that he actually met her it's quite amazing how she acts like a tsundere.
Making his way inside the house he saw Mikasa standing at the door.
"Who was that?"
"It was the neighbor we are going to go to visit her later. Don't let her fool you with her attitude she's a nice person. Now let's put all of our stuff away and take a shower..... no you can't come with me to the shower so don't ask".
Mikasa now depressed made her way to her room to put her things away.

Now all cleaned up they both made their way to the entrance of the house but before they did Adam stopped and pulled out an item from his vault. This item would be something that would alert him when someone is trying to get near the house. He also doesn't have to worry that Gilgamesh would be able to get passed through his defense since everything in his vault now belong to him only. If a higher entity would try to see through his ability as a fake they would be surprised since it would appear to them as his own. This is something that happened when he got True Gate of Babylon it made is so that his ability is no longer just a copy but his actual ability.
Placing the box that has a bunch of different words written all over it on the floor it began to sink in the floor. After it was done submerging runes flashed throughout the entire building making the inside and outside glow for a bit. This didn't go unnoticed by all the magicians near the building. This included a certain red-eyed kid who was walking by the neighborhood and Rin who was holding a yellow jewel while practicing her magecraft.
The light started dimming until it completely disappeared like it was never there. With this Adam could make sure that anyone inside would be kept safe.
With everything set up, they both made their way out of the house towards the Tohsaka manor.
They didn't even need to knock since Rin opened the door before they were able to do it.
Rin was still speculating on what that magic wave was but her time was cut short when she felt two presences near her mansion. Knowing who it was she was about to go open the door but felt that she at least could dress up properly. Even if she said she doesn't want any friends she doesn't really mean that but she'll never tell anyone that.
Once she opened the door she got a little excited when she saw Adam but completely hid it and instead showed an annoyed expression. "You really came back huh? It doesn't matter. Shoo shoo I'm still busy so leave".
"Now there's no rush look here's my friend. Rin this is Mikasa, Mikasa this is Rin. You guys get to know each other I'll be exploring this place" Adam quickly introduced them to each other and made his way through the door dodging Rin's attempts at stopping him and ignoring her shouting.
Adam didn't really know what to do once he was in the hallways since there wasn't anything to do. He just wanted to give Mikasa and Rin a chance to become friends since they both don't have many friends. So with that in mind, he continued looking around the empty and lifeless corridors.
Back at the entrance, there was a completely annoyed Rin and a quiet Mikasa.
"Who does he think he is to just walk in without my permission, how can someone have so little etiquette. Hey, you does he always do this type of thing?" Rin asked.
"He doesn't usually pay attention to people's opinions and does what he wants, "Mikasa said with a proud expression.
'What is wrong with these two!!' Rin exclaimed in her head. "Forget about it, I'll introduce myself again my name is Rin Tohsaka," she said while signaling for Mikasa to introduce herself.
"My name is Mikasa Lo-cough-Akerman. Sorry about that. Show me around this place" Mikasa quickly changed the subject.
"Right... Well anyway, there's a lot of places I won't be able to show you but follow me." Rin said as she made her way to the main hallway.
"How are you guys related? are you cousins or something because you guys don't look similar in the slightest." Rin asked to clear the awkward atmosphere that was forming.
"No, Adam took me in after he saved me from a group of criminals that had just taken me out of an orphanage," Mikasa exclaimed with a reminiscent look on her face.
'So she doesn't have any family members either? Wait was she adopted then?' Rin talked to herself in her head. "So are his parents fine with you living with them?" Rin asked since she found it weird that she hasn't seen Adam's parents either.
"No, his parents have been dead for a while" replied Mikasa with an indifferent tone.
'So they both don't have parents? But then how did they buy that huge mansion. I've never heard of a Lochner family with a large amount of money.'
"If you both don't have parents then how did you buy that huge mansion?" Rin asked while giving Mikasa a questioning stare.
"Adam bought it with his job, he makes a lot of money from it. What about you, where are your parents?" Mikasa responded with a question of her own.
Caught off guard by the questioning Rin began to frown and was about to reprimand Mikasa for reminding her of her parents but stopped when she realized she'd look like a hypocrite if she did.
Mentally sighing she shook her head "They died as well a while ago. So I take care of this place by himself while someone else deals with the other affairs."
"Hmm, that's unfortunate," Mikasa said with her usual expressionless face.
"Is there anything else you guys do? You guys seem to be quite the characters." Rin asked with a slightly mocking tone at the end but regretted it after she began to get annoyed thinking about how rude Adam was. At this point, she just thought of them as a couple of rich orphaned kids with weird behavior and was about to show them their way out. She hoped to have as little contact with them so she could focus on her own goal.
"Adam does a lot of things like paint, play instruments, kendo, work-out, and talk a lot. I like to observe Adam, keep Adam safe, and work-out." Mikasa said.
Rin pretended to not hear all her weird hobbies of observing Adam since her mention that she works out caught her attention since she also likes to keep her body in a good condition by exercising. She usually gets called 'Gorilla' by the one person she can call her friend even if they don't act like it and argue all the time.
"You also work out?" asked Rin clearly intrigued by the idea of having someone to exercise with.
Mikasa now was actually paying attention to Rin. All the girls that tried to be friends with her had nothing in common with her and some even out tight declared that they hated working out.
"Yeah, I have to be in top condition to keep Adam safe." Mikasa once again stated.
'Why does she have to keep the rude person safe can't he protect himself.?!! Is he useless on top of being rude?' Rin pondered to herself.
As if she was reading her thoughts, Mikasa added "He doesn't need me to protect him since he couldn't be killed even if a nuked dropped on him. But I can be at ease if I can make sure he is alright".
Catching onto the fact she just stated that Adam couldn't be hurt after such a situation she was about to ask her what that was about but stopped since she thought that she was just exaggerating.
They both continued talking about themselves for a bit longer and found that they got along quite well, For Rin, it was a new experience to talk with someone without having to put up a front. She usually acts proper and well behaved but in reality, she likes to act tomboyish and complains a lot.
Mikasa was finally able to get along with someone and found it refreshing to speak to her about the things that are hard to bring up to Adam. She also doesn't have to have Adam bother her with making friends anymore.
Like this, they spent a total of 2 hours talking to each other in Rin's room while Adam was no longer walking around aimlessly. He had begun to search for anything that lets him see how magic works. While he could read how to use magic from the books inside of his vault they were all full of different magic than Mages use at this time. He was finally able to find what he needed when he luckily found Rin's library open. Inside of it, there were tons of books that showed how people use their magic circuits in order to use their mana. But unfortunately, he doesn't have magic circuits so he could only leave the library in disappointment. He will just have to use the skills of the Noble Phantasms in his vault back to back.
Once he was done he made his way to where he felt to presences. Once he was outside of the door he could hear all the talking going on inside so he decided to wait a bit to not interrupt them. He was glad that they were able to become friends since they both seemed to be in need of some communication with people.
Hearing that the conversation came to an end he opened the door. "It's good to see that you guys are getting along. I wanted to tell Mikasa that I am going to leave Rin's house and explore the city and ask if you wanted to come with me."
She was about to get up and leave but then thought it over and decided that she wanted to talk with Rin more so for the first time she refused his invitation." I'll stay here until you're done so just come pick me up later. Don't do anything dangerous okay?" she said the last part with a slightly threatening tone but Adam ignored it.
"Right, right if that's all I'll be leaving. See you later Rin~~~ don't miss me too much" he said the last part in a playful tone that earned him a pointed stare from Mikasa and a hateful glare from Rin who was doing her best to hid the slight blush on her face.
"Get back here yo--yo-you je--jerk" exclaimed Rin as she tried to chase Adam to wack him in the head so he'll learn his lesson to not play with her but was unsuccessful since Adam was already at the entrance of the manor laughing.
Once he was out of the manor Adam stopped laughing and wore a serious look on his face as he began to make his way to the center of the city
