Chapter 22: A Journey Begins
Once Adam finished burying the bodies he went back to the house to clean himself up and talk to Rin.
"So what do you want to know first?" Adam asked her. He had finished getting ready and was now sitting in front of her with his hair dripping water.
"'Gulp' First of all are you a normal human?" she asked curiously while trying her hardest to not stare at him too much but still sneaking in some glances every now and then.
"I'm a normal human" Adam replied to her while thinking about how similar this conversation seemed. He didn't stop talking " Is what I would like to say but I don't even know myself" he said.
"So you're a human? Then how were you able to take out 4 magi without getting any injuries?" she asked him.
Adam was going to brush over his skills and blame it all on luck but then he thought that it'd be inconvenient if she worried over him. "Well here's the thing ..." he went over his abilities and what he was capable of.
Rin was just listening to him go on about what he's done over the last decade and couldn't believe she was looking at the same person she had known for the last couple of years.
"Hold on, so the person who has been causing accidents all over the place is you?" she asked. She has been feeling mana bursting through her like a wave for the fast couple of months.
"That's necessary, I hold back my mana all the time to look like a normal human, and because I'd stand out too much. I don't want all supernatural beings knowing where I'm at all times," he explained to her.
"Now that you explain things you kind of seem like one of those overpowered characters from movies," she told him sarcastically.
"You're kind of right" Adam unironically replied to her.
"Anyway we should head back, it's already time for school and Mikasa has been spamming my phone since we left," he said as he showed her his phone that had hundreds of missing calls and messages.
"That's pretty scary isn't it?" she already knew Mikasa was incredibly overprotective and jealous but she didn't know it was to this extent.
"Wait until she finds out I was with you," Adam said to her in an attempt to scare her.
"She wouldn't do anything to me, right? We're friends after all. Right?" Rin started to get a bad feeling.
"I wish I could tell you but I don't know either. We can find out though" he said as he grabbed her by the hand and teleported them back to the house where the girls were currently changing.
"Wait, don't bring me al...o..ng" her voice trailed off as soon as she saw Mikasa looking at them.
"Sorry for the wait I was talking to Rin about important things," he told Mikasa.
"I leave you alone for a single night and you sneak out and cause problems," Mikasa told him with a tired voice.
"It wasn't my fault, people were trying to sneak into the house while we weren't here. She just happened to see me taking care of them and decided to tell her about us", Adam quickly explained as he walked towards the door.
"Oh is that right? Then everything is fine. One last question; is that all that happened?" she asked them.
"Of course, you can ask Rin," Adam said confidently since there was nothing he should be guilty of.
"Ye-s of course there's nothing," Rin said with a high-pitched voice.
Adam facepalmed at her actions. There was nothing that should make her get worried about so he didn't know why she would act suspiciously.
"You can interrogate her, I'll be on my way," Adam told Mikasa and left the room before anyone could say anything to him.
At school, Adam saw all the cheerful smiles of the students who were all excited for summer break to start. Adam was also excited for school to end because he would now be able to go further away to collect materials without having to worry about school.
When lunch rolled around Adam made his way to the student council room with Mikasa and Asia behind him.
"What are we doing here?" Mikasa asked him.
"I came to say goodbye, I'll be traveling around to see if I can find what I need," he replied to her. He already knew what he needed but he wasn't sure if the items still exist nowadays.
"You're going to take us with you right?" Mikasa said while looking at Adam straight into the eyes.
"Not this time. But if it's fighting you want then I'm sure there will be a lot of it where Asia will be spending her summer break" Adam said to her while acting oblivious to what she wanted.
Even though he acted like he didn't know he knew what she wanted, he didn't have as much time as he thought he did before. The war was set to start in a few more weeks and he wanted to be ready to destroy it immediately and not waste time with other things
Walking into the office Rias' peerage was already there, with Rias and Sona talking, and everyone else doing something by themselves.
"What are you guys doing here?" Adam asked them.
"It should be fine to tell you," Rias told him. "We'll be spending summer break in the underworld. There's going to be a lot of events that we have to be there for" Rias explained to him. "We'll have to take Asia with us".
"That should be fine. Would it be a problem if I went with you guys as well? I need to talk to someone as well" Adam asked Rias.
"That should not be a problem" A voice behind them answered for Rias.
"Why is that Azazel?" Adam asked.
"There's a lot of people who would like to meet you. You would be doing me a great favor if you could attend the Young Devil Meeting" he asked Adam.
"I won't be staying there for long, I will actually be really busy," Adam said to Azazel, in case he was planning on having dozens of people meet him.
"What will you be busy with?" Sona asked him. She was planning on spending time with him so he could help her with any new strategies. 'That's the only reason. No other reason' she kept saying to herself.
"I'll be gone for the rest of the Summer Vacation," Adam said loud enough for everyone to hear.
"You never said anything about spending the entire vacation gone" Mikasa protested.
"I might be back earlier but that depends on how things go on my end" Adam replied to her. He was also feeling guilty for not being able to spend much time together with her. He knew that his time with her was limited and soon wouldn't be able to see her. "I'm sorry," he said in an apologetic voice that surprised anyone.
Seeing his reaction she accepted his apology but also found it weird that he apologized the way he did. She began to suspect he was hiding something from him but didn't think much of anything because she already knew he hid things from her.
"Before I leave you guys can ask anything or if you need something you should ask for it. Also, I want to talk with Issei, Yuuto, and Gasper before I leave" Adam told them.
"I-um I want to spend more time with you" Sona yelled out loud. In her mind, there was nothing wrong with what she had just asked. It was just an invitation for him to teach her and her peerage any new stuff but her face and body expressions didn't agree with her.
Everyone in the room went quiet, even Adam who would usually retort to whatever someone says.
"I didn't know you were that bold Sona," Rias said, astonished by her friend's braveness.
"President, I think you misworded your request" Tsubaki tried to help her friend but then realized Sona was blushing while looking down. 'There's no way right' Tsubaki thought to herself.
Not sure by what she meant Adam automatically replied. "Um, Sure?" he still wasn't sure what had just happened.
"Sona, can I have a word with you?" Mikasa asked her with an annoyed expression on her face that only Adam was able to discern.
"Of Course," Sona said, with a voice sounding opposite of her previous shy young maiden voice to someone that was filled with confidence.
'"I'll get going. Follow me, Issei, Yuuto, Gasper" Adam said and fled the scene.
"The perpetrator is running away," Koneko said as she looked at Adam fleeing.
"Seriously, he should at least take responsibility," Rias said in exasperation
"Ahhhh" Adam sighed. He was trying to keep his distance from everyone so that he could spare them the pain of missing him. He didn't even know why he agreed but now he would just have to plan something out later.
"Alright, I already know something is going to happen while you guys are in the underworld so I'll need you guys to be prepared for it," he told them "Especially you" he then pointed at Gasper.
"Why why me?" Gasper said almost in tears from being singled out.
"Why is he crying?" Adam asked Issei.
"He's just shy" Issei defended Gasper.
"Whatever, I just know that there are plenty of gods who aren't too happy about signing a peace treaty with devils, so be on your guard and make sure you train a lot"
"I wasn't going to slack off anyway, I've learned there are no shortcuts to becoming a Harem King. So I must get stronger to achieve my goals," Issei told Adam.
"You're right, there aren't any shortcuts. Even though it is a pretty bad goal, it is a goal nevertheless." Adam replied to him.
"I will do my best as well, I want to protect my friends as well," Yuuto said as he smiled at Adam.
"Please don't say something like that in public" Adam replied to him while looking at the girl who overheard Yuuto say his line, which was now passed out with blood running down her nose.
"My apologies" Yuuto replied to him with the same smile.
"And you?" Adam looked at Gasper.
"M-e-me too" Gasper was barely able to say out loud.
"That's good enough. Yuuto, can you send a message from me to Akeno?"
"I don't see the problem" Yuuto replied to him and leaned closer to him.
"You don't have to do that" Adam said as he backed up from him. "Just tell her I wish her luck with her training and give this to her as well". Adam took out a book from his treasury. It was a book that had detailed instructions and other subjects about Holy Lighting.
"Now that I'm doing this, give this one to Asia as well and give this to Koneko" He took out another book for beginner-level magic attacks and a folded-up piece of paper. " I know that it's all up to the individual and their imagination, but they could probably benefit from these," he told them. "Now that I'm done with that, I'll see you guys soon," he said and walked away from them through the school hallways and leaving the school grounds.
"Why didn't he just give the books to them?" Issei asked Yuuto in confusion.
"He must have his own reason. Now let's get back to the president" He told them. They then headed back to the office where everyone was still waiting for Sona and Mikasa to finish talking.
"Welcome back, what did Adam want to talk to you about," Rias asked them.
"He just warned us to be careful while we are in the Underworld and to keep up train hard" Issei responded to her.
"He also asked me to give this the Akeno, Asia, and Koneko," Yuuto said while showing the two books and the piece of paper. Handing them out to the three of them he stopped in front of Akeno. "He also wanted to wish you good luck with your training," Yuuto told her and went back to standing on Rias' right side.
"I'm happy he's thinking about us," Asia said to them.
"Except Rias fufufu" Akeno laughed at her friend. But she was also feeling grateful towards him. She didn't know how he had figured out what she was going to but it made her happy knowing she had support.
"I don't need anything from that womanizer," Rias said while puffing out her chest. It only made her a little bit annoyed that she didn't get anything but she didn't let it show.
"I wonder where he went" Tsubaki interrupted them.
"Well, he keeps saying he doesn't have enough materials for what he needs. So it must be the weapon that was in his room. But I don't know why he would need it" Xenovia replied with what she thought.
"We'll have to wait to see it," Rias told them, acting uninterested. But she was intrigued by what he was making.
Adam's first destination was in the Iwate prefecture. This had nothing to do with his weapon but instead for the servant he wanted to summon.
He wanted to summon someone that he could trust with everything he wanted and could relate to. The first person that came to his mind was Minamoto no Yoshitsune who according to his legends was incredibly faithful to whoever was his master.
Going to where his final battle was fought Adam looked around the River. He used his luck to the maximum in order to find something that he could use as a catalyst to summon him.
Walking around and inside the River, Adam wasn't able to find a single item so he decided to take a seat on the edge of rock overclocking the River. "So there really isn't anything here huh?" Adam said in disappointment as he picked up a small pebble.
He threw the pebble with a small amount of strength in a fit of anger. The pebble went flying to the river and submerged into the water. "I guess I'll have to find something else," Adam said after throwing the pebble and stood up to leave the area but stopped when he heard a distorted sound of metal being hit.
He looked back at the river since he heard the noise come from there and jumped to where the noise originated. Once inside the body of water, he found a barely intact sword. He could recognize it to be a katana. Even though it was not visible anymore he could tell the handle used to have a red color.
"So this must have been his sword?" Adam assumed. If someone else would have found it, he would have not believed them at all but being with him being the one to find it he could trust his luck.
"Now that I'm finished with that I guess I can start," Adam said as he placed the artifact he found in a box that would preserve it. He placed a helmet on himself and began running at incredible speeds to his next destination.

eeclime14 I feel like this chapter might not be that good because I kept editing it on different days so tell me what you though of it. I'll probably make his time gathering materials and meeting new people a chapter to two long.
