Chapter 2: "The Event"

This is crazy! What exactly am I doing here? I never attended this choosing the new apprentice ceremony throughout my seven years at this institution, but I am forced to go due to Granger's blackmail.
"Should I just kill you?" I threaten the man in my right. He was smiling from ear to ear since we came here seven minutes ago. This huge auditorium is horrible and I hate being here. I hate this academy for God's sake!
"Yeah, I know you can but before you can kill me, the news of you being a strong ability user will be linked to the whole academy," he whispers. I just glare at him like I was about to kill him. Why do I even let him be my friend in the first place?
"Why do you even hiding the facts that you are strong? you could be the top student here."
"For what? so I could stay here forever? No way! I plan to be free from this shitty academy and... be with my family." I try to whisper the last statement.
"You truly despise being an ability user, right?" he asks, his gaze falling on the stage, which has a large throne in the center. Why would I want to be a part of this community as a person with an ability? This academy, which I despise, is the basis for my estrangement from my parents.
"Good morning students!" Mentor Suren greet using the mic in a podium on the right of the stage. He was the mentor of Energy control. And energy control helps us to develop our ability and make it stronger.
"Summon your spirit animal," he commanded us.
Every user of ability has a spirit animal. My mother's spirit animal is a Black phoenix, and since it is so large and strong, she hardly rarely summons it out of the spirit realm. My father had a Prionailurus rubiginosus, but it was so tiny that he let it stay in the living realm, with us. And we can only comprehend and communicate with our own spirit animal.
We meet our spirit animal on our 12th birthday, and we can summon them by calling their name. "Levi!" I whisper and in a split second my 9 tail white fox appears. He sits quietly and behaves like an elegant creature in my side. Unlike Granger's white lynx name Lobi, he is so energetic and noisy. He always runs around and makes a fuss at everything.
"Oh God Lobi please stay put or I won't give you any food later." Yeah, that's what Granger does to make his spirit animal behave, he always blackmailing it. But it always works. Now Lobi is quite like a good animal.
"The majesty is approaching." some of the guards announces. All the students stop speaking and focus on the person that was walking to her throne. It was a big and gold throne. It suits her gold gown and gold crown. She walks like an elegant person I ever see. Behind her are her 4 apprentices and called Majestic. Being the crowned Queen you have to be the strongest ability user in this academy. And Queen Summer Clarkson is the longest Queen in the whole history of Queendom. She ruled this Academy being the Queen for almost 5 years and once every year students have a chance to challenge her to dethrone her but no one succeeds for 5 years.
And then this event started when she became the Queen, she picks one of the students to be her apprentice, and she will make it one of his majestic that always follow her like a soldier may be to protect her.
Her curly blonde hair also makes her so elegant and her spirit animal is a blue panter name Xolo. She murmurs something then Xolo appears in front of her and like her, it also just stay put and lays down in front of her like she knows what's going on.
"The Queen will now choose her new apprentice that she will train to be one of the strongest ability users and become one of the Majestic." Mentor Suren exclaim.
Mentor Art which is our mentor in Combat skill shows his skill to the Queen, he levitates some paper. Then the Queen gazes at every student in the auditorium like she was looking for someone.
Then suddenly Levi was making some noise and I just felt myself floating in the air. I hold Granger's hand but he just let me float till I reach the stage. Granger was shocked as a shock I was then I saw Levi following me. He was worried.
Slowly I felt that I'm going down and when I was already on the floor Levi come to me and comfort me "I'm okay Levi." I told him then he calms down.
"Stand up and say your name, Miss." I heard mentor Suren said.
I slowly stand up and bow to the Queen, I maybe hate this place but I still know how to respect people especially the Queen and all the Mentors.
"I'm Zero Ark... level 20 telekinesis." then some murmur from the crowd started to emerge. They are all shock that the Queen chose someone that has a lower level than other students. They think that the Queen made a mistake by choosing me and yes, she was wrong. I can't attract others' attention. That was what my dad told me, it will cause me trouble.
"I think the Queen was wrong for choosing me," I said while looking on the ground.
"You think she made a mistake?" Mentor Art asks me in a raspy tone. It also sounded like he was about to laugh at what I said.
"The whole academy think that way, sir."
"She has the gut to talk back." A female apprentice said, I just could figure out who was it cause I'm still looking down.
"The Queen never made a wrong decision, she always has a reason." Mentor Suren defended. So this means that I don't have a choice again? Can't I turn down this opportunity?
"At ease miss Zero Ark." my eyes got widen in shock because that voice belongs to the Queen.
