Chapter 3: Friends Haunt

Yamil was in opposition.

"Their body dozed and hands twitched.

How could one contest fate, offend love, and reject a passed destiny?

Their smile revealed teeth and eyes stayed still."

Yamil wasn't confused, nor simple.

"Her eyes stayed still, his jaw was locked. The body wasn't theirs to keep, the only option was to follow preordained laws."

How could one be simple when they were pulled and stretched and confined to be someone they weren't?

"Her surprise victories were fated to pass."

How could one be simple when the heart knows what it wants?

Yamil is a complete yin-yang, or purple, or a sunset.

"Yamil was told to be a lie."

------

Melia accepted herself. She knew that no matter what she wanted, that her needs were met. People really don't need much, food, shelter, and sleep. When feeling too down and out, Melia just thought of Yamil and laughed.

She laughed until her face was red, dabbing the corner of her eyes.

'Yamil was a story, a lie told to stir up up hopelessness.'

Melia's eyes relaxed thinking of this. She had to pick up her feet, thinking so loudly she nearly lost track of time walking to Alexsis's house. The hues of the sun on the horizon were distracting.
