Chapter 7: Chapter 7

After what felt like a 30 minute nap, while at the same time feeling like a 8 hour long round of continuous beating, Yan opened his eyes, and was surprised to see a ring floating in front of him. What was even more surprising was the fact that he recognized this ring. It was a ring he begged his parents for. Nothing fancy, just a plain, thin, circular ring of silver, with nothing embedded in it.

He wore it for about five years, and died while wearing it. As he was wondering why it was here, he heard a system prompt.

[Fullbring manifestation medium procured – silver ring. Name of the fullbring – ring of inner world. Grade of fullbring – low.

Since the soul of ring of inner world have only been nourished by memories of host for less than five years, the grade of fullbring is deemed to be low. By combining the fullbring and zanpakuto, the host can allow them to share their ability.

Through training, as host's zanpakuto grows stronger, the host's soul will also grow stronger, along with that of fullbring, while at the same time increasing its grade, which will in turn, allow for host to increase the grade of his zanpakuto, thus creating a positive feedback loop.]

Hearing the response, Yan smiled as he thought to himself that at least something was going his way.

Though not completely lazy, Yan had not done any really hard work for about four years, pushing him into a procrastination cycle that made it really hard for him to work for something, and this was also the reason for his irritation when he learned that he had to work hard to earn his powers which were supposed to be given to him by god.

However, this mentality slightly changed when he had to work hard for about 40 hours to survive against an Acnologia who was hellbent on killing him, while at the same time finding out how he improved slowly, as he increased the intensity of his training.

Getting up, he stretched his body, and thought back about his first conversation with Acnologia.

'He said that the quest about dragon transformation was something that made him who he was, and a dragon slayer into a true dragon slayer,' thought Yan to himself.

He was generally not good at these kinds of stuff, what with how he didn't really like to talk with others much, but being an introvert had its perks, like right now. After talking with Acnologia, he was analyzing the conversation they had, when this hint got stuck in his mind.

Mind you, he wasn't analyzing it because he was some strategist, but because it was his habit as an introvert, who was somewhat afraid of social circles and did not really know what to talk about with acquaintances like many others, and to ensure that he did not say something bad, he analyzed his talks afterward, not most of the times, but enough times for it to become a half habit.

'If we are talking about what made Acnologia, then his life can be described into three phases, one where he was weak and desired strength, second where he desired death of every dragon, and third where he was looking for a challenge and amusement. And the only thing that is common with make a true dragon slayer is killing a dragon! Specifically, bathing in a dragon's blood!' as soon as Yan finished his analysis, an excited grin couldn't help adorning his face as he thought about the solution to his problem.

'Right now, I only know about three dragons that I can kill. Two flood dragons who are outside the dragon god's cave and a true dragon guarding evil god's fire seed.'

Yan stood up and walked outside of the cave. Thinking of quickly finishing his quest, Yan quickly moved profound energy inside his body, creating a buoyancy that lifted him upward. Now that he had trained for 40 hours under high pressure, his control over his profound energy was quite decent, at least enough to not make it a problem for him to do what an average cultivator did with his profound energy, but anything beyond that was a tough cookie for him.

Propelling himself upward, he looked around and saw that somewhere far away, on the horizon, there was a large black dot in the middle of what felt like plains, much different from his current surroundings of forests and grasslands.

Quickly flying towards it, Yan discovered that even with only profound energy, his speed was actually quite fast. Not supersonic, but fast nonetheless. In about thirty minutes, he made it to the place.

As he guessed, the place was a human habitat, a gigantic city, spreading a hundred kilometers each from north to south and from east to west (according to system).

Looking below, the people were looking at him with amazement, curiosity and…reverence?

Landing on the ground, people quickly made a 10 meter diameter circle around him, and moved out of the way whenever he moved in any direction. This was a weirdly entertaining fact, which quickly got boring when he did it more than ten times, with people looking at him like he was a nuisance but still not saying anything, most probably because he was stronger than them.

Awkwardly scratching the back of his head, Yan walked around till he spotted an inn. Thank god, he gave him basic service of being able to read and write.

Walking inside, Yan saw that the place was partially filled with people, with more people coming in and quickly filling up the seats of the place. Going to the reception, Yan asked where he was, in detail.

And he was met with the first troupe of cultivation world. The man behind the counter openly sneered at him. Maybe because the profound energy Yan was feeling from him was not even one thousandth of his own? According to the system, the man was in Nascent profound realm level 2, which gave Yan idea that he might not be able to sense his tyrant profound realm power as he was not using true profound arts of hide it, but still the openly disdainful gaze was annoying, and very infuriating as well.

Before the man could even open his mouth to start off his bullshit, Yan gave him a slap on the face, which, by his standards, was light, but the man felt as if he had been tackled by a boar. And it was then that Yan noticed the change that training in isolation chamber had induced in him. He wasn't afraid to hit people now. In fact, even after knowing it, he hardly felt anything, other than a slight bewilderment, which ended with the thought of 'Oh, so ITC can affect me like this too.'

Looking at the man who was looking at him in anger, Yan said, without concealing his killing intent, which he guessed he condensed when he fought Acnologia in REAL, LIFE AND DEATH battles, "now will you tell me where I am? Or should I start breaking your limbs one by one before killing you and finding someone else to question?"

Of course, even if the man did not relent, he wouldn't torture the man, but he surprisingly was not against the idea of killing. In fact, he was a little intrigued by it. Thinking, 'would it feel different than when I killed Acnologia in ITC?'

In fact, the man was only alive because Yan was unconsciously thinking of the man similar to a mosquito and moving his hand to just shoo it away, instead of trying to swat it.

By now, the man's expression had paled as he realized that the man in front of him could really kill him, and easily at that. It wasn't because of the strength Yan hit him at, but because of the killing intent he radiated.

Killing intent meant readiness to kill, or habit of killing. You could increase a killing intent in mainly three ways. One was the traditional sparring, especially when you sparred against someone who already had killing intent of his own, where you push your opponent to his limits, constant clashing your own killing intents, no matter how weak they were, and refining them both. This method increased killing intent by making you more ready to kill, though was also the slowest method.

The other was also traditional, though not morally accepted, as it included killing people to get used to killing.

The third method required you to be placed in a survive or die challenge, where you had to kill an opponent of equal strength, who was ready to do anything to kill you. This method created the most condensed killing intent, and it was steady. Unlike the second method where your killing intent may only affect weaker individuals or may drive you insane to the lust of murder.

Yan had unconsciously created his killing intent through the third method, and he didn't even know about it, much less controlling it, resulting in the receptionist shivering in fear, while many others were looking at Yan with wariness.
