Chapter 21: Exam 1
(3rd POV)
(Few minutes earlier)
In the huge gate of a training area, a crowd of participants are waiting for the opening of the gate. They are some doing warm-ups, some are talking to each other and the rest are minding their own business.
While waiting for a while, a sudden blair of sounds rings in their ears. Once the sound dies off, an energetic voice rings out.
"WELCOME TO U.A TRAINING GROUNDS, WHERE THE PRACTICAL EXAM WILL TAKE FORTH!"
"THIS PRACTICAL EXAM WILL BE DIFFERENT FROM THE USUAL DUE TO TODAY'S PROCTOR."
Murmurs are coming out from the mouths. They are confused and some are scared due to the exam that is different from the usual.
"ON THIS TEST, THERE'S A UNIQUE TARGET IN ONE OF YOU. THIS INDIVIDUAL IS CONTACTED BEFORE THE EXAM."
"SO YOU MUST ASKING YOURSELVES WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT THIS INDIVIDUAL? THIS TARGET IS WORTH 50 POINTS BUT THAT'S NOT ALL OF IT. HE/SHE IS ALLOWED TO COMMAND THE POINTS WHATEVER HE/SHE WANTS"
"WHICH MEANS, THE TARGET IS GONNA CREATE CHAOS AND MAKE THE PARTICIPANT'S LIFE A LIVING HELL IN THE NEXT 15 MINUTES!"
When the words of the announcer sunk in their minds, a tense atmosphere sinks in. People are searching for anything unusual.
Distrust is being created. Participants are creating distances to each other.
"START!"
"WELL!? WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? IT ALREADY STARTED SO GOOO!"
Once they are out of their trance, they begin to go in the training area, various quirks are activated. Separating to each other, making sure to capture some points. Others are looking for that special target.
When they spotted the points, it was different what they thought it would be. Instead of bulky robots, they are slim and athletic figures of robots. Some are painted with 1,2 and 3 in their chests showing their points value.
When the robots spotted the participants, they charged at them. The 1s are moving faster than the others, like the speed of a leopard and armed with batons.
The 2s are transforming their upper body to a bulkier one, making them strong enough to lift a car. The 3s begin to float on air using thrusters in their feets, with their arms turning into a cannon that spits air capable toppling a car easily.
The examinees take a step back from the sudden transformations. They are murmuring to each other. Complaining to the new robots.
"We are supposed to destroy these?"
"They didn't mention this!"
"Someone is capable of commanding these!?"
They heard another announcement from the loud obnoxious guy.
"WOOPS LOOKS LIKE THE ROBOTS ARE DIFFERENT FROM THE ORIENTATION BEFORE, WILL THIS MINOR SETBACK WILL DETERRED YOU FUTURE HEROS?"
Once the announcement is over, the robots charged right at them. The first one to reach are the 1s, brandishing their batons at them, but the examinees are not just for show.
Some of the 1s are being destroyed in a matter of seconds. Various scraps are scattered. The examinees continue their hunting for points. Destroying robots left and right. But the examinees didn't notice that the destroyed robots at their backs are being restored to their original states.
Once they noticed, it was already too late. Groans of pain are heard, some are smacked in the head and other parts of the body.
"What the hell!? They can regenerate?"
"How is this fair?"
"How do we destroy these robots?"
What they noticed in the restored robots is that in the left arm of the robots are three shining lights. Some of them noticed that the lights in the destroyed robots are 2 remaining while the others are still in full lights.
"they have three lives!"
"Phew, thought they are immortal!"
"Hah, we can kick their asses to oblivion!"
They are relieved in this. Who wants to fight an immortal robot while receiving no points. But the exam itself is harder than they thought and the zero points that they mentioned in the orientation isn't even appearing yet.
(In the monitoring room)
The teachers and other personnels are observing the examiners.
"Say this test is more dangerous" says Recovery girl
"Don't worry, the robots can control their power output thus it is much safer than before!" says Nezu
"Is there really a special target?" asked Midnight
"Yup and it will be revealed later on" answered Nezu
"Interesting robots, who made these Nezu?" asked Power loader
"It is Kazuma Hatsume" answered Nezu
"Say where is the planner of all this?" Asked Midnight
"She's preparing something for later" answered Nezu
"Sigh youths these days are getting more hot-headed, just look at that young man" says Recovery Girl while pointing her cane at a certain monitor.
All the teachers looks at the monitor and they see a boy with an explosive hair and his hands are emitting explosions.
"DIE!"
"..."
All of them are speechless, their we're sure that their examinees are future heroes and not a villain.
"Are we sure about him?" asked Vlad King
"Now now, he may be hot-headed due to his quirk. So don't jump to conclusions YET" said Nezu
"All right then how about that guy?" said Vlad King while pointing his finger at a grape headed guy that is focusing on the girls instead of the threat in front him.
"Hmm, we will see later" said Nezu
Afterall, it is better to see what they desire than hiding it. So that they can monitor it later on.
"It is time Nezu" said Eraser Head nonchalantly
"Mhm, My favourite time of the practical exams." said Nezu while pushing a button in his armchair.
