Chapter 16: Chapter 16

Freya

"Gabriel when I ask a question, I expect an honest answer from you," I crossed my arms on my chest and looked at Gabriel with a piercing gaze.

"We are mates, Freya, I thought you might have figured it out yourself by now," Gabriel said taking a turn on the road.

I felt someone had punched me in my guts. How was that even possible? I already had been mated to Titus. How could I be mated to Gabriel at the same time?

"Titus is my mate," I replied controlling my anger.

"Don't speak about that douchebag in front of me," Gabriel growled.

"You don't have any right to call him names," I hissed at him.

"Are we having this discussion, after what he did to you?" Gabriel taunted.

I pressed my lips into a tight line, he was right. Titus had been gone for nearly a month and have not even made any attempt to contact me. I couldn't understand why he was behaving like this? He should have rejected me if he didn't want me.

"Why should I trust you?" I asked, arching my brow at Gabriel.

"The way you trusted Titus from the moment he stepped in your life," he retorted.

Prick.

He had an answer for everything and I was not liking him a bit for being logical. Though I was tempted to demy that I had any kind of connection to him, I couldn't ignore the attraction that I felt towards him.

"Look Freya, I can understand what you are feeling right now, but trust me it is worse for me," Gabriel said after some time in a gentle tone.

"A mate is the most important person in our life and imagine sharing your mate with someone else. You can't even imagine how I felt when I saw you with Titus.

I never had thought you might have another mate. It was a blow to my heart, I wanted nothing more than to rip off his head when he was holding you in his arms," Gabriel said.

I remembered the janitor's prophecy with a flash. He had mentioned 'two loves', so does the 'two loves' meant my two mates? He also had mentioned the fire and something about blood.

"Freya."

"Freya, are you listening?" Gabriel's voice brought me back from my thoughts.

"Yes, yes, I am," I replied.

" We are going to face a great threat in the coming days," Gabriel said.

I looked at him worried, what was he saying? Was there an end to the drama in my life? What was going on and why was everyone else other than me, aware of it?

" I would have preferred if you come with me to my clan, but your father is not agreeing," Gabriel added further.

I was startled did he expect me to leave with him just like that? He said he was my mate and I knew it in my heart that he was. Still, I don't know why I was I was not ready to trust him. Maybe because I already had a mate in form of Titus and the idea of having another mate was unsettling me.

"Freya, you need to trust me," Gabriel passed me a glance.

"What, are you a mind reader now?" I asked astonished.

Gabriel chuckled and I look at him mesmerized. How could anyone be this beautiful and have such a beautiful laugh?

"No, Freya, I am not a mind reader," He replied grinning," It's written all over your face, that you don't trust me," Gabriel teased.

"How could you expect me to trust you? You have been stalking me for months, you have not given a straight answer to any of my questions. Don't you think it's too much to ask for?"

Gabriel kept his eyes focused on the road but his jaw was twitching an indication he was trying hard not to laugh. He was treating me as one would treat a child.

"How old are you?" I asked.

Gabriel turned and looked at me, and cocked his brow, " Do you want to know my human age or the Vampire age?" He asked.

"The time you have been a Vampire," I gave him a haughty look.

"A few hundred years, give and take," he replied.

"And you didn't find a mate in those hundred years?" I asked glaring at him.

"Of course not, Freya, why would I have been here if I had another mate?" He asked me in reply.

"I don't know, maybe it's your kink to stalk girls who are a few hundred years younger than you," I huffed.

Gabriel roared with laughter, he was thoroughly enjoying our banter while I was getting angrier with every passing minute.

"You are funny," he cooed.

I rolled my eyes, there was no doubt that he just treated me like a petulant child. Damn him, as if I care what he thought about me. I didn't trust him a bit, though he had quite a tempting personality and made me want to jump his bones.

We reached the pack grounds and Gabriel took a turn on the road which led to my house. I was not surprised a bit, he had been stalking me for months and I was sure he knew more about my pack than me. It was a surprise how any guards patrolling the pack grounds haven't caught him sneaking in and out of the pack lands.

"How did you trick the pack patrol?" I asked him.

"Don't mind, but the patrolling guards are kind of useless," Gabriel replied shrugging his shoulders.

I couldn't believe that he just insulted my pack members in front of me. It was not like I was a big fan of my pack members still Gabriel had no business insulting them. I realized that this man was too full of himself.

The moment we reached the Alpha house I was taken by surprise. A crowd was assembled in front of the house, I felt someone punched me in my guts. What was

happening here?

Where my parents okay?

I ran out of the car the moment it halted. Shoving the members aside I made my way to the middle of the circle and the sight which met me was enough to pull the ground from below my feet.
