Chapter 81: Three is the golden number

I closed my eyes. And there I saw Liling. She was running towards me. She aimed right in my eyes. What's concerning is that she actually pierced through my eyes with her two fingers. Although the simulation was slow, I actually allowed it to hit me, just to see what happens.

"Hmm, she used her bear defense and used it for offense instead. That is not technically possible, since the person using the skill isn't allowed to move independently while using it. But she's doing it, so she's highly proficient with this skill—even more than the ones recorded in the legends. How come no one knew about her?" Goldy asked as my eyes were slowly pierced.

The thing is that the skill can't replicate future emotions—it could only replicate the actions. So, I didn't know what kinda expression she made when she actually pierced my eyes. I could only see her icy gaze. Who knows… maybe when the skill levels up, I can actually see their emotions as well.

Well, with the actions alone, I can judge that she instantly regretted her decision as she pulled her fingers out in an instance. It's not like I have to be worried about it since I got my healing skill. Even if the damage looks irreversible, it can actually heal it. However, I wonder what would've happened if she had used the skill before I gained the skill…

Anyhow, it seemed that with all my practice with the silver hair skill, the specs had slightly increased. I felt like the simulation was a second or two more than the one that I had when I fought against Guo Ning. It's either that or a slight increase due to me learning my third skill.

However, I don't feel good about using this skill repeatedly, especially with my eyes closed. It kinda feels impractical, doesn't it? I mean, what if it was a live simulation? It would save me time from closing my eyes, right? Although, that isn't that different, now that I think about it.

However, closing my eyes during a battle doesn't sit well with me. I hope this will change after I level up. Here's the thing. Since I don't know what changes would come by once I level up the skill, it's really a mess.

Like, there's the normal level up through sheer experience, then there's the unlocking of certain sub skills of the main one upon reaching the cultivation realm. There's a lot to think about. And it doesn't help that two of my three skills are completely unknown to me.

With all the monologue, I forgot I was in the middle of a fight. Anyhow, once I opened my eyes, it was the same scene that I saw a few seconds ago, albeit a bit faster than that.

Since I knew what she was planning, I just lunged forward.

I initially thought of dodging the incoming thrust and run, but since I knew the trajectory, I deemed it to be my best chance to gain the upper hand that I never lost in reality. This was supposed to be her trump card, so I kinda feel bad about doing this as well.

Anyhow, I believe since it's a defensive skill that isn't usually used like she does, it took time to change trajectory, even for an expert in it like her. Therefore, even though there was only a few seconds' delay, there was one, and that's all I needed.

She tried hitting my back with her fortified fingers, so I got a grip of her from the back, making things difficult for her. So, from the open space that she left under her arms, I slid to her back and grasped her waist with both my hands. At this point, I could only think of one move. I lifted her up and slammed her into the ground with all my force. I hit a German suplex.

It was a satisfying moment. Doing it with a pillow back in my old life clearly helped me. Anyway, I didn't leave my grasp with just that one suplex. I have the leverage now, and I didn't wanna lose it so soon.

Therefore, I got up with Liling still in my grasp and threw another German suplex on her. The initial suplex broke her concentration and her defense was done with. And with the second one, I rattled her completely.

However, I wanted to hit one more just so I could seal the victory. So, I got up and was about to give her the third, when…

"I give up." Liling spoke in a faint tone.

"Huh?"

"I said I lost! My defense is completely broken. You won." She spoke.

"Wait. Just one more! If you endure one more, I'll accept you as the victor." I basically pleaded.

I couldn't just leave it at two suplexes. Three is the lucky number. If I don't hit it, I will always regret it!

"Ha, if I allowed you to do that, I'll be out. I don't wanna win when I clearly am deemed to have lost. I'm not interested in a tainted victory." She replied.

"Is that so?" I sighed as I left my grasp on her.

Once I did that, she instantly fell down. I guess she was right. The next hit would've brought her down. I acted like an arse to fulfill my selfish desires. Ha, I'm an idiot!

[She's strong… Way stronger than I expected. If she's able to train herself in shortening the lag when she has to change her trajectory, she'd be a demon in disguise.]

{Hmm, a lot of powerful characters who didn't even get their chance to shine, huh… I wonder what kind of monsters the major characters in the story are… Will I be even able to take them down?}

[No use thinking about it right now. Just try to live in the present, rather than thinking about the future. If you don't do that, you'll always think of yourself as inferior.]

{Hmm, you might be right. Anyway, she looks completely exhausted. I'll take her to her home and use my skill on her.}

I sighed as I picked her up and walked towards Liling's home. There's still a long way for me to go, but I'm truly on my way.
