Chapter 14: Chapter Fifteen - Not Happily Married

ADIAN'S POV

Celeste walked into the room followed by Adana, who was holding on to Hailey as she was apparently dragging her along.

A flushed Hailey paused stopping Adana in her tracks as Hailey looked around the room in awe.

Frowning at the both of them standing together. It's uncanny how much alike they look. My father standing on the other side of me seem to realize that also, as he stood staring at them with a small smile.

Catching my gaze, he smiled at me, as Jerry comes to stand beside him, whispering in his ear, then they both looked at the girls still standing at the entrance, with knowing smiles on their faces.

I looked back at the girls confused realizing that something is off here.

Jerry walked up to the girls, placing a hand gently around Hailey's shoulders, encouraging her to walk further in the room.

Knox approach Hailey, whispering quietly to her. With a stunned expression her eyes met mines bearing questions. Having no idea what they were discussing, I just stood and waited.

F**k this. "I have somewhere to be so can we get this show over with?" I barked to everyone around.

Celeste immediately walked up to me, with hands on her hips "behave" she scowls.

Without answering her, I turned away signalling a waiter assigned to remain with us in the room.

"A whiskey please" I requested from him.

Mother approaches me next "okay" she claps her hand excitedly.

Mr. Knox calls us together to stand in front of a podium.

He opens a file with some documents because this is not a traditional wedding ceremony.

Smiling, he addresses Hailey, "I know you did not expect to get married today, but at the moment it's just the marriage contract or in this case a certificate confirming that you two " Knox, looks at me, "are legally married. " he explains

"Adian express his desire to have this marriage out of the spotlight during which time the both of you get to know each other. A grand wedding ceremony will be held sometime in the near future" Knox continues to explain to Hailey.

Didn't she know how this was going down?

Impatient now, I glare at him, wanting to leave here.

"Okay," placing the certificate in front of me, "sign there" he indicated the spot and did the same thing for Hailey and the two witnesses, my father and Jerry.

"There will be no exchanging of rings until the actual ceremony or if you want, we can get rings for you" Knox asks.

"NO!" I said a little to loud.

"Right! so this is it, you guys are married!" he claps. I abruptly turned walking out of the room, ignoring my mother calling my name.

Pulling out my phone, dialing, before putting the phone to my ear.

"Hello stranger" Sammy answers.

"Hey, meet me at Crown Plaza Hotel, I'll text you the room number." I told her.

"For the entire night?" she squeals excitedly.

Smiling wearily, "yeah", I hung up, walking across to the reception area, booking a suite, under an alias name, ignoring the guilt that I feel.

I didn't want this, I didn't have a choice! She did, she could have said no! This is her fault, not mines, deep down knowing I'm just trying to make myself feel good.

Waking up with a hangover, looking around, there is no sight of Sammy. I threw myself back on the bed. F**k, it's Monday.

Reaching across, I put on my phone only to hear it constantly signalling messages. Smiling with content, I headed to the shower. After two nights and a day with Sammy, I'm exhausted, but I will not be excuse today, after bailing on the family Saturday afternoon.

As usual I'll just chin it up, dreading to see my new wife in the office today. Unknown to my father, I already have a office at his building which I will now use as my base, and I know the reason I'll give to give them.

Showering I changed into a suit that I wore on Saturday for my wedding. I'm a married man, an angry married man.

Fixing my suit that I had laundry, I set out with my overnight bag ready to face the army that awaits me.

Arriving at my new office was not as exhilarating as I thought It would be. I ran from here to avoid my father, now I'm back because I'm avoiding my wife.

"Mr Knights, good morning" my PA greeted me.

Nodding, I continued walking to my office, while he followed me.

I opened my door looking around. "What do you think" I asked my PA?"

Not one to consider his words carefully, he shrugged his shoulders, walking inside ahead of me.

Remember the saying, 'a happy working environment, makes a productive worker'?" he asks.

"Nope, never heard" I responded snickering.

Sitting behind my desk getting a feel of it, "What now" I asked him leaning back in my chair.

Sitting down in front of me he leaned back in his seat. "you're the boss, so tell me" he responded calmly.

Cautiously staring at him, " you're the worker?" I asked staring him down.

Lifting his arms "a happy working environment, makes a productive worker" he repeated .

Gazing around the room again, "what? it looks great" I said mostly to myself.

"Guess what is missing?" he asks looking around.

Okay, he's not please. Now what's missing? Grinning mischievously, "the sexy blonde in reception?" I asked hopefully.

Smiling, "now you see why you're going to have problems with my quality of work?"

Frowning disbelievingly, "really?" I ask again.

He got up stomping out of the office angrily.

"Hey" I yelled.

Walking out behind him, mainly because I had nothing to do presently. Standing at his door, leaning on the frame "really?" I ask again.

"Is that why you're here?" he asks curiously.

Sensing another question, " you mean here in your office or here in this building? "
