Chapter 31: Yakuza
"Dabi sure has a lot more time to visit lately." Ryokos voice is a little louder than it should be considering were in the café. I look around pulling her closer "He's been out on his own more lately working on finding recruits. Since there isn't really one specific place they are all staying he's been in the dorm with me more often than not." She nods seriously this time keeping her voice down. "Aren't you worried? What if he approaches someone who is actually a spy for the cops or something." I nod trying to push that small fear down. "He's really smart has a nose for this kind of thing, he'll be fine and it's easier not to worry when I see him most every day." She nods thoughtfully a large smile coming across her face when she sees Natsuo approaching. "There you are beautiful, nothing like your smile after a long day." I sip my boba trying not to smile at how disgustingly cute they are. "You could have waited for me after the test Y/NC" I just give him a shrug in reply pushing the chair across from me out with my foot. "Maybe I just wanted to see Ry." She smiles but gives a small head shake nose scrunched up at the attempted nickname.
When Natsuos phone rings I nearly jump out of my seat, he answers it to my surprise, he usually ignores all calls until at least after dinner then calls back. "Yeah she's right here." Natsuos face as he hands me the phone seems to flush of all color.
"Hello?"
"What's going on with your phone why aren't you answering?" I pull my phone out looking at it even more confused.
"I'm sorry sweetie, I may need to call my provider because I have no missed calls but apparently three voicemails. Is everything ok?"
"That fucking idiot Shigaraki met with the head of the Yakuza today. Mag is dead and Compress is missing an arm." My jaw drops, Mag seemed nice what little Dabi let me talk to her.
"Ok, so I'm needed then, are they at the usual spot?"
"No, no one knows his face he took off his costume and went to the hospital." I nod before I realize he can't see me.
"Sweetie I'm sorry if I caused you to worry, I will look into what's wrong with my phone as soon as possible."
"Forget it, I have a new phone complete with new number for you. They stopped compresses quirk somehow. I'm out of the shit till they conclude this business. You too fuck them."
"Sweetie, do I even want to know where you got the money for a new phone and service?"
"No you don't. I'll see you, stay with your friend until I can get you the new one so I can reach you since your phone is fucked."
"Ok, I love you I'll see you tonight."
"Yes and me too." He hangs up and I can't help but wonder why he wouldn't say he loved me or call me baby. He was being very cryptic actually.
Natsuos face looks even more concerned. "Are you in trouble again for not answering your phone?" I shrug at him "I'm not sure he was being a little weird I don't think he was alone. The boss got mixed up with the Yakuza we're out of it for however long it takes before all that gets wrapped up." His eyes widen as he nods at me understanding. "Anything else you made a face you looked sad." I nod trying not to cry knowing Dabi would tell me I was being foolish. "Big sis Mag, she's gone. Magic man lost an arm." Natsuo looks at me helplessly before looking at Ryoko. "Don't look at me I don't have permission to touch her at all you at least have stipulations." He nods moving us both to a couch taking me into his arms, I'd forgotten how cold he feels, but I don't care I hate that someone who always seemed perfectly pleasant was snuffed from this world, even more so the fact there will be next to no one to mourn for her. I cry harder at this thought causing Natsuo to hold me tighter. Ryoko brings me a scone when I calm down, "Here, on the house, don't worry about it." I take it from her wiping my eyes pulling away from Natsuo now that the emotional wave is over. "Thanks future sister." She beams at my words. "You really think so?" Natsuo chuckles pulling her into his lap with a kiss to the cheek, "One day I'm sure. Love you beautiful."
