Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Death of Silence

Lucifer stuttered as she pointed to Diana with a surprised look on her face, "You... you're Diana...?!"

Diana was also surprised to see Lucifer in front of her who's actually looking round and heavy. For her to have a brutal life just because of these insignificant people, Diana started to doubt the previous Diana for having an enemy that was too simple to defeat.

After thinking things through, Diana starts to look down at Lucifer as she smiled alluringly, "Indeed... I'm Diana Lambert, your one and only true pretty friend."

"Pretty? Hah! Don't make me laugh! I'm the prettiest here at Northlyn. No one can resist my beauty!" Lucifer exclaimed loudly for everyone to hear.

Diana remained her composure but as a matter of fact, she was already dying from trying to hold back her laughter.

Although it was Lucifer's celebration and it was her mansion, she thought that things would simply go her way but there was Diana. Lucifer allowed Diana to enter who's much more fearsome than the devil himself.

Hearing Lucifer's self-proclaimed talk made people snicker and murmur. Lucifer was delighted to see others snickering and thought that they were giggling at Diana but as she faced Diana back, Diana was smiling confidently that suddenly made her shudder from unknown fear.

Diana stretched her neck up and looked far away, just as if she was looking for someone then she suddenly looked at Lucifer with a surprising look and this made Lucifer confused.

"Oh! I'm sorry! I was just looking for someone attractive. I didn't mean to ignore your beautiful and humble presence," Diana said with her charming smile and sincere look, but everyone knew the hidden meaning behind her words.

Chuckles and giggles slowly get louder as Lucifer's face flushed from embarrassment. But Lucifer didn't back down and fought back with confidence.

"Just because you slimmed down, doesn't mean everyone will like you! You will still be the fat villainess that everyone knows!! You can never change that!!"

"I see..." Diana's expression remained unfazed with her intense glare, just as if she was looking at a pathetic peasant. Diana shifts her head towards the people and looks around, "I suppose things will change from now on..."

Diana stepped closer and whispered behind Lucifer's ear which made everyone curious and as Diana slowly walked away, Lucifer was frozen from her place.

Lucifer suddenly gets teary-eyed and with one look, one can tell that she was fuming in anger as she clenched her fists. She wanted to retaliate but given the circumstances, she would only make a fool of herself, especially when Diana said something that made her think twice.

Meanwhile, Jonathan wanted to accompany Diana since he had no doubt that Diana was in a rage and wanted to cool her down but Diana refused as she only needed some fresh air to calm herself.

Diana was mad at Lucifer but not to that extent. What made her furious was because of Diana Lucia for being stupid enough to be mistreated by the likes of Lucifer. Was Lucia that weak? Diana scoffed with the thought as she walked on her way to the garden.

But as she arrived at the garden, it took her moments to realize that she was already lost. The garden that was supposed to make her calm made her even more pissed off that she had to stop and stay silent to soothe herself.

In the midst of stillness, she hears water flowing nearby and thought that it would be a water fountain and if it is, then she could sit there for a while as she thinks of a way to escape the garden.

She heads to the sound of the water but as it got clearer, Diana somehow had a bad feeling as she felt something ominous. Her instincts told her to go back but her legs were telling her to head to the fountain because it was already half-dead.

Diana wanted to follow her instincts but if she had to go back, she doesn't know if her legs could keep up, and more importantly, she doesn't know the way back.

And so she had no choice but to go forward, Diana sighed as she cautiously kept on going with her hands tightly grabbing on her dress and cold sweat on her forehead until she saw a gruesome scene that made her step back and cover her mouth to prevent from screaming.

At that moment, based on the novels she read, she remembered that gardens are the most dangerous places to go.

Diana's eyes were set on the man who's wearing a pitch-dark cloak that wrapped his masculine body. Standing under the frosty moonlight, he raised his bloody sword and continuously stabbed the person who was lying dead on the ground, not showing any bit of mercy.

The gushing scene of blood in front of her made her step back, attempting to run away but the man who had the stench of blood already noticed her presence. Diana badly wanted to escape but her body wouldn't listen to her as she suddenly felt pain from her foot.

Diana trembled at his domineering presence. The man gets closer as he slowly raised his sword and placed it on Diana's fragile neck.

Is this it? I'm finally going to die?

"Wait..." Diana whispered and was surprised that she actually said that.

I'm hesitating...?!

As Diana battled with her brains, choosing whether she accepts death or finds a way to survive, blood trickled down on her neck that made her tightly shut her eyes. But then, a sudden wind came that made Diana take another glimpse of him as the man's hair fluttered.

Diana was surprised as she dazed at his lifeless gem-like eyes that were looking straight at her. Without any second thoughts, her body moved on itself and she gently placed her hand on the man's cheek while the sword was still placed on her neck.

The man was startled and even more when Diana asked him a question...

"Are you okay?"

The man felt speechless and after a few moments of silence, Diana gradually felt that she had done something regretful and slowly panicked. She froze in her place with her hand still placed on the man's cheek, thinking of what to do next.

The man slowly puts his distance that startled her and retreats his sword. He stared at her for a few seconds before leaving with the dead body without saying anything.

Diana stood still until the man was out of her sight did her legs give out and crouched down on the ground as she gave a loud and long sigh.
