Chapter 2: Chapter 1

CHAPTER 1: Yes or No?

It's already Friday! But we still have examinations for today. And I really hate mornings! It's too hard to wake up early.

Even though I was still sleepy, I got out of bed and went straight to the bathroom. I took a bath then got dressed before I went downstairs to eat breakfast.

“Oh, sweetie, I was just about to wake you up.” Mom mumbled.

“The alarm did it first, Mom.” I giggled.

She chuckled. “Sit down and I'll prepare your breakfast.”

“Where's Auntie Lucy?”

“Ah, I gave her a day-off since I still have to return to our company tomorrow.”

“How about the other maids?”

She shrugged. “Maybe cleaning up.”

I didn’t ask again. After breakfast, I called Uncle Raul so I could get into East High University. I neither like being late nor absent.

We were just approaching the University parking lot when I saw Ella and Hazel. How come they got here first before me? I chuckled secretly. Are they excited about the exam?

“Good morning, sis!” Ella and Hazel greeted me as I got out of the car.

“Good morning!”

“Did you review?” Hazel asked me.

“Of course, today’s the pre-lim.”

“That's good. Let's go to the cafeteria first.” Ella said.

We’re now going to the cafeteria of East High University. We still have an hour before our exam starts. When we finished eating there, we talked first.

“I hope the test won’t be too difficult.” Ella uttered.

“What are you, Ella! You're smart, for sure that's easy for you.” Hazel laughed.

“It will be easy if you study,” I told them.

“Let's go back to the room, let's just review.” Ella added that we agreed to.

As Ella said, we went to the room and reviewed the notes. My review was just quick because I read the others at home.

It didn't take long for our professor to arrive as well. We have been given a test paper, we are the last one because the three of us are at the end.

I also finished it right away because everything I reviewed was there. Hazel followed me, then Ella.

“My gosh. What do you think your score is?” Hazel asked.

“It doesn't seem to be falling.” Ella replied.

“I don't know.” I answered and shrugged.

The three of us finished our exams quickly. It didn't take long and we went home as well.

“Girls, I'll go first. My driver has already arrived.” I bid my goodbye to them.

“Okay. Take care, sis!” Hazel.

“Of course I will, Hazel.” I chuckled.

“See you on Monday!”

“See you!”

I went to the parking lot to find my pickup. I saw Uncle Raul immediately so I got in the car.

I looked outside when I heard us stop. Argh! It's traffic again. Boredom attacks me so I decided to browse online. While browsing, a notification popped up on my screen all of a sudden.

Marco Ramos sent you a friend request.

I don't know who's this guy, but based on his profile picture and his mutual friends, I guess he's from East High University, too. So I accepted his friend request.

30 minutes. It's been 30 minutes already but the traffic is still not moving. Gosh, I feel so tired. Later on, Marco suddenly chatted.

Marco Ramos: Hi!

Faye De Leon: Hello.

Marco Ramos: How's the test?

Oh-kay? He’s feeling close, huh?

Faye De Leon: It went well.

Marco Ramos: That’s great.

I frowned in astonishment. I typed a reply again.

Faye De Leon: Uh... I'm sorry, do I know you?

Marco Ramos: Don’t you? I have been at East High for almost two years.

Seen.

Marco Ramos: Seen?

Faye De Leon: What's your problem?

Marco Ramos: So haughty lol. See you on Monday.

I left his chat on read then I logged out. Tsk. He's feeling close, I don’t even know him.

When we arrived home, I hurried up to my room. I alarm my clock first so that I wouldn’t continue sleeping later. I feel so tired even though we did nothing but take the exam, so I went to sleep early.

*Ring* *Ring*

I was awakened by the sound coming from under my pillow. It's my cellphone, I looked at what that sound sounded like. I woke up exactly at 6:30 pm, which means I slept for 3 hours.

I went downstairs to see if we had dinner for later. I saw nothing yet so I decided to cook. I'll cook my favorite dish, sinigang!

“Do you need help, ma'am Faye?” yaya chay asked.

“Ah no no, I'm fine here, nanny. I'll cook.” I smiled.

“All right, just call me if you need anything.”

“Sure. Uh ... By the way, do you know where Mom is?”

“She’s in the veranda, your Daddy called.”

“Oh, is that so? Okay, I'll just go to her later.” I said.

I honestly want to be a Chef someday, but I also want to be a Flight Attendant so I still don't know what to choose.

“Yaya Chay!” I called our maid.

“Why, ma'am Faye?”

“Try this nanny, please!”

“All right,” she chuckled.

She tasted it. I don't know if what I cooked was really delicious or I just thought of it because I’m the one who cooked it? A few minutes had passed and she was still silent, OH MY! I was nervous about what she would comment.

“Is it delicious, nanny?”

“It is!” she exclaimed, that made my eyes sparkled.

“Waaah! Yaya, really? Is it really delicious?”

“Yes! Give this to your Mommy on the veranda. See what her reaction will be.”

I was so excited so I immediately went to the veranda. I saw Mom arranging some papers.

“Hi, Mom!” I greeted her and kissed her cheeks.

“Oh, hi honey. Why are you here?”

“This…” I handed her a bowl of my specialty at the same time.

“Wow! Did you cook this?”

“Yup.” I smilingly nodded.

“This is so delicious, honey!”

I smiled widely. “Thank you, Mom.”

“I will miss it when I’m in Korea.”

The smile on my lips suddenly disappeared because of that. Korea?

“What? Did I hear it right, Mom?”

“I'm going back to Korea tomorrow for our company's merge. Don't worry, honey. Your Dad and I will come back before your birthday, okay?” she added.

“Mom, this month is October. My birthday is still in March. You won't be celebrating here with me on Christmas and New Year?”

“I'm so sorry, honey. Please don't be mad. If you want, you can follow us in Korea on your Christmas break.”

“I'll think about it, Mom.”

“Sorry, Faye. We're doing this for your sake. I hope you understand.”

“I understand, Mom. I'm not mad. Maybe I was just shocked because you lasted there for almost 5 months.”

She hugged me tight. So my parents aren’t here on Christmas and New Year. I can send Ella and Hazel here but I know they will celebrate with their family.

Uh-oh. 5 months. Boredom can I survive you?

But it’s Korea, my favorite country…

Yes or No?
