Chapter 2: One Step Forward
Eve's POV
As soon as I got home, I packed everything that I needed in a hurry. From my personal stuff to my school documents and things. Yes I am probably an assassin but I still do school and right now I am in my senior. Maya wants me to finish my college and live a normal life after. At first I refused but suddenly I realized if I finish college and get a good job in the future I could ask Maya to stop and turn her back from her chosen PROFESSION. I will work and provide for her instead. That was my plan and now everything change.
I burned every stuff and documents that Maya kept that can be used against us while I save the other things that can be use in the future. I watch how flame destroyed all of our secrets while my tears are falling like rain. "Mum". That's the only word muttered from my lips. Everything about her that connected to me must be eliminated. This was the agreement we swore to each other. Things that I took for granted.
I cleaned the whole house and erase every possible prints there is. I kept our other personal stuff in a hidden room then cover the furnitures with white linens. I looked around the white covered and when I felt satisfied I run to my room and packed all the clothes that I needed. I remembered what Maya told me. I run to her room and took the shoe box under her bed. I didn't bother to look what's inside because I feel like I've been taking too much time something I don't have much. I speed run back to my room and grab my large backpack as well as my big postman bag. Then hurriedly run outside the house. I didn't take any car I decided to take the bus instead. As soon as I got all of my stuff I hurriedly run out of the house and jump to the first taxi I see. Without looking back. I left the place I once called home.
I stop over to a small inn and in there I start to look what's inside Maya's box. The box is as big as my running shoe's boxes and it's almost worn out. I opened it and to my surprise there's money inside probably 200 gran plus some jewelries that can be pound. There's also some envelopes and I pretty sure there's an important letter inside for someone. I took the envelope and read what's written at the backside. The first letter us for me and tge second envelope is for someone named Anna.
I put back the letter for Anna and took only the one that addressed to me. When I opened it the message was written differently. It was encrypted and I have to decipher it first. It took me a while to get Maya's message to me.

Once you get this letter that means I'm probably dead. I left some cash and the jewelries I suppose to give you for your birthdays but I just keep them here. My beloved daughter, I am very thankful that our path crossed when both of us were lost. Though I am not the best mother in the world you still loved me and acknowledged me as one. I am also so sorry for dragging you into my messy life and became a tough mama just for you to learn. Like I always said before all the trainings are for your own good except for the killing part. Eve, my sweet daughter it is time for you to change your life for the better. Forget about our dark past but please dont forget about me. You are the best thing that ever happened to me, always remember that. Finish till college and find a decent job then maybe find a man who will love you for who you are. Make me proud sweetheart, this is the last wish I have for you.

"And I love you too, Mum. You maybe different but you are also the best thing that ever happened to me". And my tears flow like rain again. I miss Maya. I miss my mother. "Whatever happens in the future I will make you proud".
I stayed at the inn for a while and studied the other encrypted message that Maya left for me at the end of the letter. I found out that it was a coordinates to a house. An address, and I believed it is the address of the woman named Annalee.
I took off after searching the place in the net. It was quite far from where I am right now. I calculated if I took a land road through bus I will get there after three days without a stop. I think it's a good option. I have a bad feeling about airports right now and I always follow my guts.
My journey to a new life starts after I ride the bus. I'm leaving everything behind and start anew. This is Maya's last wish and I will going to fulfil it whatever happens. The long ride starts tonight but I will enjoy every minute of it. After this I will be free from my dark past.
The memories of my yesterday will somehow fade except for her. I just hope what I left behind won't hunt me in the future.
