Chapter 93: A kiss on her lips - 2

Later in the evening, when he arrived at Caroline's place, he heard her still fidgeting about what had happened at the memorial ground. 

"Why… Why is he here again?" Morpheous heard her say the moment she looked at him.

Seeing the direction in which their conversation was going, Benjamin left the room, and he thanked his stars because he didn't want the old man to know what had happened at the memorial ground. 

She was adamant, and so were her questions, but he had no idea what she was about to ask next.

"Are you in love with me, Morpheous?"

And all of a sudden, he could feel the earth rattle underneath his legs, and he wanted to just escape because he couldn't bear to lie to her. He couldn't bear to break her heart. But that was the only rational thing for him to do.

"No." 

He cursed his fate as he watched her heart crumble, and then she stormed away to her room. The door was bolted, and he knew she probably bolted her heart too.
