Chapter 2: Chapter 2

"The choice is yours." The king waited for a response but there was silence for a while.

"I'll take the job your majesty." One of them broke the silence. It was Water, she stood up from the chair and shouted out "I will do anything to save innocent people's lives, even if it is sacrificing my own life. I'll do it! Your majesty, I can make plans to stop school for a bit and will try to catch up later.

She stood, everyone looking at her with wide eyes. Even though the guardians were meant to be protectors of the people, they had never gone to any battle. They were still in training. It was amazing to her selfless behavior, ready to risk it for the good of the people. Her concern about the loss of people's lives was incredible.

"I on the other hand don't think I can give up school." Cloud whispered miserably. "I was already getting bad grades and if I don't do better my parents will kill me."

"Or maybe they'll understand that you want to do good for the kingdom, save people. And they will not worry about your grades." Cloud answered back at her.

"I'll take it too!" Ice yelled as Fire followed by saying the same thing, Sun also agreed which only left Cloud panic.

"Cloud, you do realise that you are a guardian." Ice asked, "This is not really something you choose to do, this is something you are meant to do. We have to save the people because no one will."

"So? We don't have all the time in the world for you low life!" Sun yelled at Cloud while everyone waited for a response.

"Don't talk to me like that, first of all.. ....." Cloud stood from the chair yelling at Sun, but I cut her off. "I guess everyone is going on this mission, so now you will be given the basic information."

Contracts were handed out to them to sign and they were told they would be given two days to read and sign and return the forms. Their signatures would confirm their participation.

After the meeting,a servant volunteered to show the guests around but the king wasn't around and so was Cloud. They had disappeared from the table unnoticed. I decided to go look for them but someone got in my way.

"Hey, prince. It's not nice to ignore a girl as beautiful as me." I noticed Sun in front of me. "And what does your beauty have to do with anything if I may ask?." I asked.

"Everything. It's hard not to notice." She said smiling which seemed to pinch on my nerves.

"You being beautiful doesn't mean I have to be interested Sun." I pushed past her ignoring her face turning red with rage.

"How dare you." She hissed. I walked in the palace corridors peeking through every door. Just when I was about to turn back, I saw Cloud and the king go inside one of the empty rooms. I felt like going in the room but I didn't want to interrupt so I waited outside, near the door looking through the door slit.

"Is there something you want to talk about?" The king asked calmly. "Yes, your majesty, as I said before, I'm Cloud, guardian of the Sky." she bowed to the king then he told her to raise. "I've got disappointing news." she whispered softly.

"What disappointing news?"

"I'm afraid, I won't go on the mission, I can't get involved because of the situation I'm in."

"What's wrong, child? Are you alright?"

"I live with my mother and she's badly ill. I've started working in a small restaurant and I've been saving up money to take her to see a doctor so I can't just give up school and leave her all alone, we are very poor and my father passed away when I was a baby. I'm sorry, I wish I could help with the mission but I just can't."

"Wow, you've got a lot on your plate. Thanks for telling me about this and don't worry about your mother, we'll take care of her and she will be sent to the best doctors. You don't have to worry about school or anything, we'll take care of it all, once you come back from the mission, you will get transferred to a Royal High School. And if there is more, you can tell me, I'll take care of it. We can't let you go through this alone. Not when the nation needs you so much."

Kneeling down at the king's feet, she sobbed quietly. "Oh thank you so much your majesty, I'll never forget this, I'll never forget your kindness." He pulled her by the hand.

"It's okay. Just let me know if you need anything. Even if it is to prepare for the mission."

"Thank you, thank you, thank you." she bowed once again then went out the door.

Taking a step back so as not to seem like I was eavesdropping, I started walking in the direction of the room again and then bumped into Cloud.

"What were you doing there?" I asked curiously. "N.. nothing, it's not that important." She responded taken back.

"I said what were you doing in there?"

"That's none of your business, your highness."

"Oh please, acting like I'm a stranger."

"Actually, you are, we've never met before."

"Aren't you the one who was warning me about a curious cat or something?"

"I....."

The king suddenly opened the door and interrupted our conversation.

"Death, I thought you were with our guests?"

"Yeah I was. I came here looking for….."

"Looking for Cloud perhaps?" he said with a wide grin.

"I hope we didn't have you searching for a long time. I was just showing her around the palace."He smiled.

"You've got the wrong idea, I was actually looking for you." I exclaimed.

"Oh yes."He said brushing me off. "Now that you're here, I would like you to show Cloud around, since she doesn't know her way around the palace." He said patting me on the shoulder. "You two can have fun now." He laughed then left.

"You can lead the way, your highness." Cloud broke the silence.

"Again with the formality, just call me Death."

"I can't do that, you're a royal and I should show respect."

"I wasn't asking you, I was telling you. Show respect and do as I say. "

"Hmm.....fine I'll call you Death, you can feel free to call me by my first name too."

"Sure."

So, two days passed and all the guardians officially accepted the job. After receiving the signed forms, they went back home to sort everything out, prepare themselves, for it was going to be sometime before they came back. We had only had four days to have everything set and done. There were arrangements made about everything and this mission was to be kept a secret from the people.

Four days passed and we went and met with the five guardians in the palace's private property.

"It's nice to see you again." Water gave a bow and so did the others, except for Sun. She was still angry from the last time we spoke I assumed. She could be angry for all I care.

"It's nice to see all of you again as well. I'm really glad you could all make it and you took the job. You have all my support and I wish you good luck on this mission ." The king said. He explained that everything was set and all that would happen after would be up to us. We were in charge of all that we needed and we had him to supply and support us.It was a serious speech and I realized that this was more serious than I had realized. This was going to be a first mission for all of us and we could not disappoint everyone, especially me. I had to do my best and prove myself as the Prince. After the speech, the King said goodbye.

"Can we all come together and form a circle." I said. This was going to be one of my largest spells in a very long time, and I couldn't help but fear that it wasn't going to work.

"What for?" fire asked.

"We need to get going." I said folding my sleeves and stretching out my hands. "We all have to hold hands for it to work easier."

"I don't understand." Cloud said.

"I have to teleport us to our new location. Where we will be staying for the mission."

Sun scoffed. "Teleport? Can't we just go there?"

"You mean spend some time on a ride going there than actually Teleport which takes a few seconds? Are you okay?" Cloud asked in disbelief.

"Teleporting will be faster and it will be much safer. No one can trace us. Remember, we have to keep this as secret as possible." I said firmly to them.

"Now can we all hold hands so we can start with the mission."

The group came together until we were all in one circle holding hands.

I stood in closed my eyes and waited in silence.

"Nothing is happening." Sun said mockingly.

I could feel the heat build up within me consume until all I could see was red.

And when I opened my eyes we were standing at the hotels entrance door.

"Wow" Fire screamed. "Dude that was cool."

"I didn't think it was going to work." Cloud laughed in disbelief. "I mean I know you are the Prince and you all these powers, but you know…."

I couldn't help but smile. I still had it in me.

"And where are our bags, back at the palace?" Sun asked, rolling her eyes.

"They are in your assigned rooms." I said walking past her.

"Wow, this is amazing, I've never been in such a fancy hotel, the king has a good taste." Water commented.

"You're welcome." I said with rolling my eyes.

"Wait, are you the one who picked this place? I'm impressed." She smiled as I completely ignored her.

"So, Cloud, what do you think?"

"My thoughts aren't really important." She replied.

"Just answer the question." I insisted.

"It's beautiful. I haven't been to places like this. Happy now, Death?" She answered.

"You call him by his first name?" Water looked confused but I ignored her again and Cloud didn't say anything.

"It's just the same as all the hotels I've been in." Sun giggled then looked at me. "I was expecting more from the prince but I'm not criticizing you."

Ice looked around and only gave a nod in my direction. Fire said it was fine then he kept quiet.

There was only silence, as we stood at the hotel reception.

Finally I said, "Sun, you're not going to stay in this hotel, since it's not your taste, you're going to sleep where you think is best for you."

"No one said you're the....." Sun shouted but I cut her off.

"I'm in charge,if you have a problem with how I roll, then quit now." Sun looked shocked and it was clear that she was not used to people talking back to her and standing up for themselves. She was on for a ride on this one.

"Let's not fight guys. I'm sure she didn't mean it that way, your Highness. Please can we let it go. We really love the place and we wouldn't expect more." Water stood between us." And Sun, watch your mouth." she said with a warning look.

"Everyone can get settled in their rooms and we'll meet up to talk later." I said walking away.
