Chapter 3: The Sorting goes weird and unable to go home
An oval mirror with a black and silver frame above a fountain spouting green water at the center of a large room filled with floating coffins.
While the students were sorted divided in seven groups as the chatted amongst themselves with excitement. At the front of them, one of the Dorm leaders, a young man with brownish-red hair mid-lenght hair. Looking at his group with his silver eyes staring directly at them,"Is that all for the new student dorm assignments? Listen up, new students. Here in Heartslabyul, I am the rules. Break them and it's off with your head.
A yawn escaped at the man with lion ears,"Uuuugh. The stuffy ceremony is finally over. We are going back to the dorm. Savanaclaw, follow me." He stared at the students in his line.
While another young man with wavy silver hair and pale blue eyes with glasses. He looked at his group with his 'friendliest smile',"To the new students, congratulations on entering this academy. Enjoy your life here to its fullest. As the dormitory leader of Octavinelle. I will support you to the best of my ability."
"By the way were did the headmaster go? He flew out right at the middle of the ceremony..."Asked a tall handsome man with shoulder length blond hair and violet eyes as he pulled his hood down to fix his hair.
"Abandoning his post..."responded the voice from the floating tablet with a tri-forced in the screen.
"Did he get a stomachache or something?" The choppy white haired man with red eyes wearing a purple turban decorated in golden ornament patterns questioned.
"Not at all." As well said man barges in and held a grey cat around his cord.
"Ah, he's here." Said the red-haired man.
All the students see their headmaster carrying a tied up grey cat creature. Though what caught their attention was behind him seeing a student with their eyes glowed in unnatural dusk color but never revealed their faces. They never seen this student before around the school and assumed a newbie who arrived later.
The wavy haired headmaster made his way toward the mirror standing in front holding the struggling Grim, as Rei stood 3 meters away from him.Mr.Crowley turned to face his students and sighing, hurt that his students would think he would abandon his responsibilities."I cannot believe you all. We were missing one new student, so I went to find him."And mr.Crowley turned torwards her."You are the only one yet to be assigned a dormitory.I shall watch over the raccoon, now step in front of the Dark Mirror."
'Well, I don't have so much choice anyway.'She thought and glanced at Grim which his eyes filled in envy,'Well look at that, it seems he wanted to go this school and that school will do not such a thing to attend him. Such a shame.'"Mghgmh!" Grim screams were muffled again by Crowley's hand and glared at her.'Glared as much as you can. Leviamon will so much proud with such a gaze and will kill you if they are here.
Rei took a step in front of a familiar mirror who bought her in this world, as the theatrical mask appeared surrounded by green flames inside the mirror. Which didn't suprised her since she watched disney before,'Honestly,I prefer the old classic fairy tale and ghibli studio as disney.'
"State thy name...." The mask spoke to her in a shakespeare tone.
Rei replied,"My name is Rei."
As students in the hall began to murmured such as 'He didn't told his last name. How strange' and their dormleaders silence them thought they also curious about that person.
"The shape of thy soul is..." The mask looked at her for a moment to think were to sort to her.
"I do not know." Said the mask in the mirror.
"Come again?" Crowley asked looking at the mirror with a stunned expression.
"I do sense her magic from this one....However the color, the shape, all are nothing and i also sense a mysterious power that is not a form of magic."
'I didn't know that i have magic and does that mean the mirror saw my bond between my digimon.' Thought Rei in shock,'Is that's true then, I have longer to hide them but not now as i don't who to trust anyone and its an order to the digital world kept them in secret.'
Annoyance spread across Crowley's face narrowing his eyes at the looking glass. Questioning the mirror, "And what do you mean by mysterious power that is not a form of magic and you can't also sort her even though she has magic."
"This Child's power is nothing that i seen before. Therefore, thy are suited for no dormitory." States mirror.
The annoyance from Crowley's face subsided as whispers were thrown around the room. Hearing the negative and confused commentary, Rei and her Digimon expected this but not this badly. The wavy black haired headmaster began to rant," In 100 years, there has not once been a mistake in student selection. I can't get my head wrapped around it... Why bring a boy even though with 'amazing power?' What does that even—"
"A boy? You say?" The mirror asked.
As Rei and her digimon watched at them amused,'Haaa, I wanted eat popcorn. Is to much fun to watch.'
"Yes a boy." Replied Crowley confused why the mirror asked such silly question.
The mirror corrected him,"This child is a girl."
The information was processed through Crowley's head. His eyes widened and screamed,"YOUR A GIRL."
"Finally, someone said that that."Rei said as pulling the hood off her head, as all the boys in the room were shocked as whispers about the girl's appearance filled the room again. She had frail skin, her short bob hair is black like the night and what's more shocking is her glowed eyes filled the mixture of violet-blue that looked like a evening star. As few of the dormleader and students started to blush a bit at such beauty. She looked like a goddess of dusk in their opinion.
Crowley looked at Rei and then turned away from here,"What in the world...?"
'You have no idea, what i been through.' She stared at him deadpanned.'Ah, Grim is going beserk and of course he let his guard down of course.'
"Mghmgh... Pah!" Grim gasped as he was finally freed from the whip. Then yelled out,"Then I'll take their place!"
Crowley looked to th side to see a freed Grim. Crowley seeing Grim run up to Rei.'I warn you tanuki-cat if you ever harm Rei. You will never see the daylight ever!'as the digimons are still in her digivice. Grim received such a massage somehow but ignored it anyway."Stay right here! Raccoon!" States Crowley at him.
Grim ignores Crowley's order, as he stops in front of Rei wearing a cocky cat-smile.'Guess is he is happy at his opportunity is open up for him,' She thought. The cat-tanuki creature pointed at Rei and suggested,"Unlike the dumb human, I am a boy and can use magic! Let me in the school instead!"
'This jealousy and immaturity will someday kill you!' The girl stared at him with no emotion.
"If you need proof, I'll show you right now!" Grim smirked while inhaling with smoke coming out of his mouth.
The brownish-red haired man eyes were widened and Rei stayed calm as they both shouted at the same time,"EVERYONE, GET DOWN!"
"Nnnaah~!!"Grim released the fiery blue flames out of his mouth making everyone duck down and setting the room on fire.
"Waaaah! Hottttttt! My butt's on fire!"Shouted the man wearing a purple turban as he ran around in circles. Rei watched the fire-butt man who ran around in circles and sigh,"It's a pain to watch." She ran towards the man and grabbed him in his collar. The man with a turban looked at her in suprise and Rei drags him where the light green water fountain,'Please be real water, or else i'm regretting this.' She prayed and kicks him down at the fountain. Suprisingly it worked and the fire in his butt is gone.
"Oooh! Thanks miss!" The man exclaimed in relief that the fire is gone as everyone started on panic because of the fire."No problem, fire-butt guy."Said Rei as the man stated happily,"My name is Kalim Al-Asim and your welcome to our party if this over." "Sure, fire-butt guy." The man started to sigh as she ran of to help other students.
"At this rate, the school will be a sea of fire! Somebody, catch that tanuki!" Crowley ordered his students.
The man with lion ears scoffed, "Che! Suck-ups."
"Hmm? Aren't you good at hunting? Doesn't it look like a nice, plump snack?"The handsome man asked with a smirk.
The man with lion ears glared at him replying back, "Why me? Do it yourself."
"Mr. Crowley, please leave it to me. I'm sure the others couldn't stomach harassing the poor creature, so I will take it upon myself."The silvery blue haired man volunteered with a smile.
'Ah,He is a kind of a guy who wants something in return' Thought Rei.
As floating tablet stated,"That's Azul for you. Always try to earn himself points."
"Mmm, a floating tablet that means this world ran with magic instead of electricity and that would mean for me it will be difficult to get in the digital world except if i learn the well said magic" Mumbled Rei.
"Are you all even listening!?" Shouted a furious Crowley as Rei snapped her thougths and started to thinking,'It would be difficult for me to summon my digi-partner and the students seemed not to care....Unless.'
The man with lion ears crossed his arms and said, "If it's just catching some stupid raccoon, can't you do it yourself, Teach?"
"How many times do I have to tell you, I'm not a raccoon!The Great Grim that will become the greatest magician is me!"Exclaimed Grim.
Rei stood now at center at the front of the mirror and whistled at everyone to gather their attention. They stared at her like 'what do you want,women' as she started to speak up,"Anyone who can stop this fire do it or else the whole school will be on ash and worked on it to get on this school unlike me will be canon fodder thats an order,NOW"
Everyone are motivated at her words and started working on it.
"Whoaa, this woman has guts and everyone are started doing something to stop this fire."Stated the floating tablet whoever that guy is.
The headmaster is impressive and devastated at the same time that the girl ordered students like she had done that before unlike him as a useless aldult,'To think this girl is something it needs to this school but she is a girl in all-boy school unless
....No, she needs to send home.'
The man with glasses looked at the brownish-red haired man,"It certainly has moxie. Care to help me, Riddle?"
"Mmph, I can't overlook those who breaks rules. Let's hurry and get it." Exclaimed Riddle.
"I will help you guys to!" As the mens turned around to the black short bob girl with violish-blue eyes who stares at them serious and continued,"After all, i have some of my hackin'business with him."Rei smiles dangerously at them.
As they thought,'Never mess with that women.' They agreed at her to tag along.
Rei removed the purple robe and started to run towards the blue fire wall which Grim protecting himself with it.
"What are you doing?! Are you trying to kill yourselve!?" Yelled Riddle in fear.'As if, that's a daily thing in the digital world after all as a Tamer, they doing this everyday.' She then turned around and grinned at them as she turns back to run through the fire.'Hmph, this flames are weaker than Megidramon,Shinegreymon BM, Owryumon, Dorugoramon, Examon and Phoenixmon at the same time. This is nothing for me. '
"Here she goes again with her reckless stunt."mumbled Meicoomon in 'Why are you doing this' or something as everydigione patted her,"there, there, we all are a little influence to her and also the digiworld are more chaotic, y'know." Said Elecmon who can turned into his ultimate form Duftmon and everydigione sighed at this statement.
As the man with a lion ears heard them,'Who was that.' As he looked around who's talked and saw nothing just this reckless women who ran througth the blue fire wall with no fear in her eyes and shrugged,"I need some sleep after this."
"We wanted all that, hurry up and get up to work. I need to hurry and fix my face after this to."complained the beautiful blonde haired man with violet eyes who also seemed interested at Rei that didn't have any damaged as the walked through the fire wall.'She must tell me! How did she do this, her face and even the boy unform didn't get a damaged because of the fire.'Eyed her with awe.
Crowley stared at the scene,'How reckless can she be.'
Grim turned around as Rei is already behind him.
"Gaaah!" He screamed as he ran faster building some distance from the girl. Turning his head around to seeing that she was no longer behind him."Ha as if you can outrun the Great Grim— Nygah!" Big mistake Grim she is faster as you can think. As Rei captured him and pinned him down the holding his beloved tail.
"You are really the most annoying creature than the certain nuclear twin dino I ever met." Rei stared at him with such cold glowing eyes and that keep Grim to stand still as if he was a prey to her you don't wanna mess with.
'Aaaah, that eyes of rage and dissapointment can't not escape from anyone!'shuddered the well said dinos Digimon.
The mens seemed to catch of this her and stared at her with shock
"You caught the cat?!"Azul asked the girl with a shocked expression to see Grim in her arms.
Grim says nothing as Rei stared down to him,'How can such a gaze to be that scary!'
"Sure did." Which replied Rei to him as the brownish-red haired man who has nearly the same height as her checks up to her if she has any injury."How can you be so reckless?! Are you anywere hurt?!" Scolded Riddle with worry and anger.
In which shruggs at him and said,"Sorry, If you worried about me but in my home I have to do this everyday." Rei pursed her lips and smiled at them with closed eyes,"Thank you for worrying about me."
With this she bewitched them and the male blushed lightly at her smile,'C-cute'.
"P-please, don't do that okay!" As the the males turned away from her. She replied,"Can't promised that thought"
As Rei walked in front with them,"Let's go back. Shall we?"Turned torward them as she saw them nodded and follow her.
"Ah."Rei stops walking,"What is it?" Asked Riddle who has now a normal face."As she held the cat in front of them."Can we do something about him before he starts havoc again?"
Riddle coughs a bit and say,"i can do That"
She nodded holding Grim out of him."Off with your head!" Riddle shouted as a red and black heart shaped collar appeared around Grim's neck.
"Nygah! The heck is this, yanno!?"Screamed Grim.
Then Riddle announced, "Laws of the Queen of Hearts Number 23: 'One shall never bring a cat into a festival.' You being a cat means you've broken the rule. I shall have you leave at once."
"Wow, as wonderful as ever. Any and all magic gets sealed by your Unique Magic, Riddle." Azul praised the short man.
While muttering to himself, "I want it... No, I wouldn't ever want that cast on me."
As Rei looked at Grim in those eyes you don't wanna mess with again that makes him quiet again.
The males stared at her with relieve that she doesn't used those of them and started to walk through the damaged entrance ceremony.
"Soo,.." The silver haired male begun,"How did you catch him?"Asked to her.
Rei looks at him as they continued walk and answered his question,"Through speed, endurance and tactic thats it."
"Eeh?! Thats it but how without magic?!"Shocked the silver haired man along with the brownish-red haired men who is also shocked.
"Look it's the first time i ever heard that i posses magic today and don't know how to use it anyway. Besides not the first time i ever do that and Grim is so much slower than the babies back home."Said Rei and deceided not to look at them as she walked.
The mens stared disblief at her like 'How can a baby from her home be faster than the gremlin in hell'.
As they returning from the burned room which is thankfully not on fire and see Crowley with an annoyed expression.
He began to scold at her,"You must do something about this! It's one of your familiars afterall! So Properly discip---"
Rei snapped at him,"how many times do i have to tell you!! He is not mine!!"
'I'm glad he isn't.' Thought all digimon in the digivice deadpanned.
He then stares at her,"Eeh?! It's not yours?!"
She told him,"I suggest that let your students to explain and no cut off what they having to say to you after all aren't you the headmaster. Headmaster Crowley."
The students began to snicker at such comment and Crowley coughed a bit into his hands in emberassed at his mistakes.
"Anyway, let's get it out of the school at any rate. We won't turn you into a stew. For I am gracious." He said with a smile.
Then a male student took Grim out of her hands.
"Gyaaaa! Let me go!" Cried out Grim, struggling to get out of the student's grasp.
"I'm going to, going to...Become the greatest magician!"He declared as he was dragged out of the room.
'Aah,such a shame. They didn't have to kick him out like that. Oh well, every worlds is cruel at it is.' Rei thought in a soft expression.
Crowley coughed, gaining everyone's attention on him. He started, "We had a bit of trouble along the way but this brings the entrance ceremony to a close. Dormitory Heads, please show the new students back to the dormitories."
Looking around Crowley noticing that one of dorm leaders was missing, "Hm? Now that I think about it, I don't see the leader of Diasomnia, Mr. Draconia, around at all..."
"That's no different from usual, is it?"Stated the man with lion ears.
The man in the purple turban asked finding fault at the other dorm leaders,"What? Did nobody tell him about the ceremony?"
"If you're going to complain, you should've done it yourself."Retorted the blonde man.
The man in the turban crossed his arms looking down and said, "Hmmm. But I don't really know anything about that guy."
Hearing what was said from the headmaster and dorm leader's conversation, whispers filled the room once again.
"By Draconia... Do they mean 'that' Malleus Draconia?" Asked a student.
"Is he seriously attending this school?"A second student questioned.
A third student muttering out quietly, "Scary..."
'Is this Malleus Draconia person really that scary?'Thought Rei and her Digimons who wanted to fight him.
"Hm so I was correct then." A deep voice replied, startled the girl to see a pale skinned man standing next to her.'He makes Miyotismon like noob.' The pale skinned man with short dark hair with pink streaks sticking out of the sides noticed holding back a laugh.'What a funny reaction, to think that reckless girl can make such a cute faces.'He thought then looked back and said, "I thought he might come but Malleus really didn't. It seems the invitation "never arrived" again."
"My deepest apologies. I promise, we didn't intend to exclude him." Azul said with a 'sincere' tone.
Riddle added,"His aura makes it hard to approach him."
'What is he, the second coming of Malificent?'Questioned Rei in her mind.'You know what, nevermind.'She felt also bad for this guy who never arrived.
"It's fine. Members of the Diasomnia Dormitory can come with me." The pale skinned man told them. Guiding the students out the room he muttered out, "I hope this doesn't upset him..."
"Oi girl." The man with the lion ear called out to Rei.
She looked at him and asked, "Yes?"
"Good work at commanding the students line and be not be reckless next time"He pointed out.
Rei smiles at him,"Thanks and my habit can't not unfortunate die but don't worry about it."
The man with lion ears left with a "Mmph"
After all the students left, leaving Rei and Crowley are the only one in the room. Crowley sighed turning to her,"Then, Rei, I'm terribly sorry about this but..
We must have you leave the school. You are a girl of course even if you helped us were really grateful but you have to leave."Rei nodded in understanding."However,There is no need to worry. The Dark Mirror will send you directly back from where you came from."
'I doubt with this statement after all with a one-trip to here would be difficult to get back. If Yggdrasil closed this gate for unknown reasons. Afterall we don't know what it thinks'Doubted Rei in her mind as she went closer at the Dark Mirror.
"Picture your home clearly in your mind..."
And Rei started to close her eyes to think her home. The digital world were it is peaceful yet chaotic and started picturing her house filled with her digimon she brought it along with it. She didn't even forget Erika, the women who turned into butterfly digimon who taught her about the real world as she grew up in the digiworld when she was six. It's also her first time she ever stepped to a real world and she started to wonder. How wasn't she nervous in such a situation.
"Oh, Dark Mirror! Guide these two back to the place they belong!" Crowley announced as there was no reply to to the mask in the mirror.
"......"
Crowley coughed trying again, "Once more. Oh Dark Mirror! Guide these..."
"It is nowhere..."Replied the Mirror.
Crowley said with a confused expression, "Eh?"
'As i thought...'Rei and her digimon states it and her eyes were filled in sadness.
"The place they belong is nowhere in this world...
It does not exist." States the mirror.
Crowley said perplexed,"What did you say? That is unbelievable! Hmm, well, the unbelievable has been on parade today."
The mirror said nothing and it vanished.
"This is the first time it's ever happened since I became Headmaster, what should be..."Crowley said in confused tone and asked her."Where exactly did you come from?"
Rei didn't know how to answered this question but she no choice but to lie at him.' I'm so sorry headmaster but this is a reasons of my choice
"I came from Ikebukuro,Japan." She replied with no emotion in her eyes to hide the truth where she actually came from.
Placing a hand on his chin he said, "I've never heard that place. I have a general grasp of where all the students came from but I've never even heard that name before.
Let's go do some research in the library."
'Aaand, here we go again...' Stared Rei at the adult behind and began to follow her.
