Chapter 4: -The Great Hall-

Y/n woke up the next morning the same way she had the day prior, to her sweating

palms and the dream playing over and over in her head. It was light outside but the sun hadn't fully come up. She decided to get her robes on and go to the common room until everyone else had woken up.

The feeling of the cold hard floor against her feet sent shivers all through her body as she got out of bed. Y/n then walked to the wardrobe in the middle of hers and one of her roommates, Katie Bell, beds and got her robes. Once dressed she left her dorm room.

As she walked down the stairs the common room, Y/n heard people talking. Who would

be up this early other than her. Maybe Hermione, but Y/n had seen her still asleep in her bed before getting dressed. She continued down the stairs and into the common room where she saw Harry. He was sitting on the floor near the fire place. That was odd. It was also odd because Harry was the only one in the common room. When Y/n was walking down the stairs, she could have sworn she heard two voices. Maybe it was her mind was playing tricks on her.

Harry hadn't heard her come down the stairs, so when he looked up to see Y/n standing

over his shoulder. Looking at the fireplace as well, he was frightened. He stood up as fast as he could, his eyes wide and his hand over his chest.

"Sorry Harry, I didn't mean to scare you. But if you don't mind me asking, what were you doing?"

She asked looking at Harry, his eyes still very wide. He took a couple breaths and

then answered

"I was, uh- just thinking."

"Thinking? It sounded like you were talking to someone."

"I wasn't, everyone else is asleep."

He said. Y/n almost believed him. But she decided that if he was lying to her, he

probably had a very good reason. So all she said was,

"Why aren't you?"

He looked at you confused.

"Why aren't I what?"

He asked. Was he really this dense?

"Asleep."

Y/n said rolling your eyes. She turned and plopped down on the couch behind them and pulled a knitted blanket over her lap. Harry sat beside her.

"I couldn't sleep. What about you? Why aren't you asleep?"

"I got restless, I'm too excited for the year to start."

This was true, but it wasn't the reason Y/n was awake. Harry nodded his head and

turned to her to ask one last question,

"What about this year is so exciting?"

Mrs. Weasley had told her that something big was going to happen this year. She didn't

tell Y/n what, but since Dumbledore hadn't announced it last night, she was assuming

that he would announce it this morning over breakfast.

"I'm sure we'll find out this morning."

Y/n looked down at your watch and it read 6:54 A.M. Breakfast would be starting soon.

She got up off the couch and folded the blanket that had been laying across your lap.

She then draped it along the back of the couch and then turned to Harry.

"Want to walk me to the Great Hall? Or should I meet you there with the others?"

She asked. If Harry woke up early, he would usually wait for his friends to wake

up before going down for breakfast, no matter what time.

"I'll meet you there, I'm sure Ron and Hermione are going to be up soon."

Y/n nodded her head and walked toward the portrait hole. She turned and gave

Harry a smile before stepping out in to the dark and narrow hallway.

-time skip-

Y/n was sitting in the Great hall eating breakfast with the rest of the Gryffindor's. She sat on one side of the table with Ginny to her left and Hermione to her right. Fred and George were sitting across from them. Y/n, Ginny, Fred, and George were conversing along with Neville and Seamus. Hermione, Ron and Harry were talking, as usual, joining in on the other groups conversation at certain points that peaked their interest. This morning had been completely normal. Y/n took a bite of her cereal as she heard Dumbledore start speaking

"It is my painful duty to inform you that the inter-house Quidditch Cup will not take place this year. This is due to an event that will be starting in October and continuing though out the school year, taking up much of the teachers' time and energy but I am sure you will all enjoy it immensely,"

Fred and George and Y/n were smiling tremendously. The twins had also been in the room when Molly had also you to expect something grand this year, so the three of them were on the edge of their seats. Dumbledor then started speaking once again,

"I have great pleasure in announcing that this year a Hogwarts-"

He was cut off by a loud bang of the Great Hall doors swinging open. A man with a black coat and a walking stick had come in. There were three things Y/n noticed about him, 1.that he had a messy hair, 2. He was missing a leg and it had been replaced by a piece of wood, and 3. One of his eyes were gone, and in its place a glass eye that swiveled all around in every direction.

The man walked to the front of the room and shook Dumbledors hand. NO. She thought. She was guessing that Fred and George were thinking the same thing because Y/n looked over her shoulder and they both had the same look on their faces as she did. Dumbledor would introduce this man, and that would delay them getting to know about the event that would be taking place this year.

Sure enough, Dumbledor started to introduce him. He was the new defense against the dark arts teacher. Hogwarts had gone through the amount of 3 different teachers for this class during your time at Hogwarts. Hopefully this one isn't a servant for the dark lord, a total fraud, or a wear wolf. Hopefully this one would stick around for your remaining years at Hogwarts.

After introducing the new professor, Dumbledor continued on his train of thought.

"As I was saying, we have the honor of hosting a very exciting event over the coming months, an event which has not been held for over a century. It is my great pleasure to inform you that the Triwizard Tournament will be taking place at Hogwarts this year."

Y/n's eyes got wide and lit up like a Christmas tree. She looked over at Fred and George. They were both smirking tremendously. She then turned her head to look around the room at the student's reactions to this news. When she did so, two things caught your eye, well more like two people. The first was Draco, he was looking at her, no, admiring her. Admiring her smile and her eyes. When he noticed that Y/n had caught him he quickly turned his head and looked away as his pale cheeks turned a faint blush.

The second was another boy. One Y/n didn't the she had ever seen, or met before but he looked eerily familiar. He was sitting at the Hufflepuff table, and he looked to be a year older than her. Maybe Fred and George knew him. Y/n poked Fred from across the table and pointed towards the Hufflepuff boy.

"Do either of you two know him?" She asked.

Fred and George were already smirking, but when she had asked if they knew the boy there smirks got bigger.

"Why?" Said Fred.

George decided to chime in as well.

"Do you fancy him?" He said, winking.

Y/n laughed.

"No, I do not fancy him. I've just never seen him before that's all."

She said. Fred and George both rolled their eyes. They were about to answer her question when Dumbledor started to speak again,

"Some of you will not know what this tournament involves, so I hope those who do know will forgive me for giving a short explanation, and allow their attention to wander freely. The Triwizard Tournament was first established some seven hundred years ago, as a friendly competition between the three largest European schools of wizardry – Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang. A champion was selected to represent each school, and the three champions competed in three magical tasks. The schools took it in turns to host the Tournament once every five years and it was generally agreed to be the a most excellent way of establishing ties between young witch's and wizards of different nationalities – until, that is, the death toll mounted so high that the Tournament was discontinued."

He paused, took a breath, and then continued on with his speech.

"There have been several attempts over the centuries to reinstate the Tournament, none of which have been very successful. However, our own Departments of International Magic Co-Operation and Magical Games and Sports have decided the time is ripe for another attempt. We have worked hard over the summer to ensure that this time no champion will find himself or herself in mortal danger. The Heads of Beauxbatons and Durmstrang have already arrived, and on Halloween we will have the Champion Selections. An impartial judge will decide which students, are most worthy to compete for the Triwizard Cup, the glory of their school and a thousand galleon personal prize money."

Y/n had trailed off while the headmaster was talking. She had been thinking about when and/or where she had seen that boy before. Her attention was pulled back a minute later when she heard Fred and George shout in unison,

"THAT'S RUBBISH"

She turned to them quickly.

"What happened? What he say?" She asked frantically.

"He said that you have to be seventeen to enter your name into the cup" Fred said, sulking in his seat a little

Well that was disappointing, a Tournament that hasn't happened in centuries FINALLY happens, and she doesn't even get a chance in participating. The twins said it best. What rubbish.

Just then the doors of Great hall were flung open for the second time that morning, but this time it wasn't a teacher. This time 12 boys came walking in, each holding a wooden staff. As they walked they would bang their staff on the ground in a sort of musical way. After the 12 boys had finished their performance, what you assumed to be the Headmaster of Durmstrang came walking in with a boy at his side. Y/n recognized this boy. That was Viktor Krum! The seeker for the Bulgarian quidditch team! She had gone earlier that summer to see them compete against the Irish in the Qudditch World Cup with the Weasley family. Of course Ireland won, but Krum was one of the best seekers in Europe.

The Headmaster walked to Dumbledor and shook his hand. Then the doors opened for the third, and final time. This time 8 girls dressed in blue dresses and blue hats walked in. They also did a little performance and then their headmaster came in and shook hands

with Dumbledor.

A few more moments passed and then all of the students were shuffling out of the Great Hall and to their classes. Y/n, Fred, and George all had Defense Against the Dark Arts first.

"About that boy y/n" Fred said

"His name is Cedric Diggory" George

"And no he is not new, your just not very observant" Fred added

Cedric Diggory. She had heard the name before. He was the Hufflepuff seeker! Of course. But that's not the only place she'd seen him. Y/n decided to forget about it until later because she and the twins had just walked into the classroom and she wanted to focus on her work. Y/n would come back to the subject after school. After all, she did find Cedric very attractive.
