Chapter 2: Being A Dad

"Daaaaaaaaaaddd!".

Opening my eyes, I get to witness my 6 year old son, Aedin, leap onto my stomach. Luckily he didn't get up to early today.

"Well, look who's up" I say before scooping him up in my arms while tickling his sides.

"What have I said about waking me up before 8:00 on weekends" I ask as I continue to tickle him.

"Not to" he gets out in between giggles. Letting him go I check the time and see it's 7:40. At least he's not getting me up at 7. Standing up I tell him to head to the kitchen and wait for me there. Blearily rubbing my eyes, I attempt to wake myself up as I stumble after him. Pulling out a cereal box from the cupboard, I pour it into 2 bowls. After pouring some milk into them as well I slide one across the counter to my son and we both dig in.

After breakfast I turned on the tv and put on whatever kids cartoon was on and placed Aedin in front of the screen to distract him for a bit. Hopefully this would but me some time to finish my newest piece. Walking through the house I end up at my office and push the door open. Walking in, I grab on of my palates off the shelf and pick out the paint I'll need.

Setting up my canvas, I squeeze out blobs of paint and grab a paintbrush before painting. The past few days I've been working on a picture for my son. He told me he wanted a picture of him holding out cat named chicken for his room. I decided to go with a more cartoony style as I thought he'd enjoy it better this way. I actually work for a small company that produces comics but I like to have fun once in a while and create my own fun artwork as a little break.

After about and hour I wash my brushes and set my canvas to dry. Heading back into the living room, I find Aedin still entranced by the television. Without realizing it was in the middle of the episode I click the off button on the remote and shut the tv. Then comes the complains. For the next half hour I have to listen to him moan about how it was such an amazing show and how he can't believe I would do something so horrible as to shut off the tv. During this time I make sure were both dresses before we head to the door and get out shoes on. Heading out the door, if only just occurs to Aedin to ask where we're going.

"Well, your granny and grams wanted to see you so I agreed that we would pay them a visit" I explain as I buckle him into his seat. This as least gets him a little excited as he now can't stop talking about how much fun granny and gramps are.

Right as I finished setting him up so we could leave the driveway, a very expensive car pulls up to our house. Now, we live in a pretty rural area so the chances of someone pulling into out driveway were relatively slim, unless someone was just turning their car around or needed to ask for directions. As the car came to a stop, a man got out of the front seat. Telling Aedin he needed to be quiet I walked towards the man. As he turned to me I caught a glimpse of his eyes and was shocked at the colour. They were such a dark blue that they could probably be classified as violet. His hair was also so blond it was almost white. He was quite intimidating.

"Excuse me, but so need directions? Are you lost?" I asked as I walked closer. He didn't say anything at first, but one I was only a couple steps away he finally spoke.

"No. I am not lost, as I have been looking for you".
