Chapter 5: Levels
Richard walked slowly through the dark trying to backtrack to where he tripped over the black box. Moving as quietly as he could he was on the lookout for more boxes and more deadly creatures. when he neared where his house used to be he spotted the dead creature and the box in its dirt nest. Unfortunately there was a creature eating the remains of the dead creature previously slain.
This had black cracks in its figure that glowed, its was a wolf the size of a bear with a tail like a bone two headed pickaxe like the tail of the ankylosaurs. When richard scanned the creature his eye widened in fear and he immediately wanted to abandon his quest for the box until a safer time.

Just as richard decided to turn around and return at a later time a loud howl came from the direction opposite where richard was standing. The wolfs ears perked up for a second then returning to his food to take a few more hasty bites turned and ran twords the sound of the howl. Richard finally inhaled for the first time since he saw the animals stats.
He then turned and ran twords the box to look inside when he opened it he felt confused, he saw two good sized backpacks and 4 medium sized eggs with another note in latin. when he picked up the bag and put it on it form fitted to hime shrinking in size and weight to almost nothing. He then pocketed the note and the eggs to his surprise the eggs were as hard as rocks but deciding they probably had a purpose put them in the bag he wore against his chest.
Richard then grabbed two more pieces of iron rebarb and headed back to Carroll's house. on the way he didn't see any more creatures luckily. When Richard reached the front porch he heard someone say "hey wait come up to the roof" he looked up and saw mr stine on the roof looking down at him while also scanning the front yard for creatures.
Richard proceeded to the rope latter now knocked down to provide access to where mr stine was. since he was still in foot ball gear climbing onto the roof was hard. but when he got up top and retracted the rope ladder he notice mr stine had prepared him some clothes shoes and food he said " hurry up and change your a target in that outfit." Richard wasn't tired so he took the next shift on watch, while mr stien went to get some sleep. he had constructed a small tent that blended in with the roof and sat up with his rifle in hand to sleep. Before dosing off he gave richard a small pistol and binoculars. he also had a speech prepared for when he saw richard.
"richard im not as young as i used to be im not sure i can be of much help to defending you or your brother. but i have a favor to ask if i somehow don't make it i need you to look after carroll." mr stien said this with a look of self disgust in his eyes. richard didn't know how to reply. "mr stien i don't know if i can if she was my age mabey it wouldn't be a task but shes only six. besides i don't think you have to worry as long as your carful not to attract much attention to this house and mabey fortify it some." feigning sincerity. after all one beast attack like the one he saw earlier and there was nothing any of them could do to survive.
"ok think of it as a demand for my hospitality and care over the years and for the clothes you now wear." said mr stien with a wry smile "wow your a real a** you planed to stick me with that burden no matter what" he thought inwardly, richard did not reply and lowered his head.
