Chapter 2: Party Mistake

After watching Kate drive off. I followed James back into the house. I went upstairs into my room to unpack my belongings. And after a couple hours of a silence. I heard a knock on my bedroom door.

"Come in." I said while inside my large closet.

I heard the door open than quickly close. Than James walked into the closet with wondering eyes.

"Yes?" I asked wondering what he had knocked on my door to ask.

"Oh, sorry if I'm interrupting anything. You've been up here for hours, I expected you to be close to finished" He said finally looking at me.

"Yes I have. But if you must distract me please do. I need a large break from packing. My room is amazing, but I already feel like I have been here for way to long." I said giving my honest thought.

I was still packing and I had not even gone through half my bags yet. I had lived in the adoptive center for my whole life, and also many people had given me gifts before I had left. So there was much to unpack.

"Okay than, if you may I would like for you to come out of your closet and sit on your bed." He asked of me.

As I followed his instructions, sitting on the bed. I saw him take out a white box.

"Here. This is my, welcome to the family, gift from me to you." He said passing me the box.

As I opened the box I saw a phone laying in one place. Is this a dream? I asking myself as I smiled softly at the box.

I looked up at James, finding myself speechless.

"Do you like it?" He asked me in wonder.

Finally gaining my voice back I was able to speak again "Like it? I love it! Thank you so much!" I said taking the phone out of its holder.

" Your welcome Ella. You don't have to set up anything. I already did that part for you. All you have so to is add new numbers in." He said smiling.

"That's great! To bad the party is tomorrow night." I said frowning.

"About that. I moved the party to tonight. I didn't expect my mother to leave so early." James said with a grin.

I looked at the clock that was on my night stand. It was only 2pm. I had thought it was a little later than that.

"Your right. She did leave early." I said in surprise.

James smiled at me looking at how I was just realizing the time.

"Well do you want me to help with anything? Party food? Decorating?" I asked feeling in a helpful mood.

" Nope. You've been unpacking all day, and you also just got adopted a few hours ago. You need a break. I'll call some of the guys over to help me set up." He said patting me on the head, frizzing up my straight brown hair.

I pushed away his hand to keep him from messing up my hair anymore than it was.

"Okay fair enough. Just don't do that anymore." I said annoyed.

"No promises!" He said loudly as he walked out of my room closing the door.

I rolled my eyes than decide to choose a dress from my large closet since I had nothing else to do during my break from unpacking.

I went into my closet and looked at the dresses. Many of them were blue, purple and many other colors. But non of them felt right to wear for my first party with my first ever family.

Than I found a black dress that stopped at the knees and had a strap that went across her chest.

"Perfect." I whispered holding it up to see the full dress that I was amazed at seeing in front of me.

Two hours pasted and the house was already filled with guests that James had invited and with people I had yet to meet. I walked down the stairs in my black dress and heals hoping to meet new people.

The house was full with unfamiliar faces. The only person I had known at the party was James and as I reached the last step. James had appeared in front of me with a shocking expression on his face.

"What?" I asked smiling.

"You look beautiful Ella." He said still staring at me.

"Thank you." I said grinning.

Before James could say another word. Someone had come up from behind him.

"Hey James! Nice party!" He yelled over the loud music.

The boy that had obviously looked drunk and who was holding a cup looked at me with wide eyes.

"Damn! James I didn't know you were cheating on Jessica with this girl!" He shouted while trying to hold the cup in his hand.

I was confused. What did he mean by that? And who was Jessica?

"Samuel shut your ass up. This is Ella, she's the new addition to the family, remember?" James said rolling his eyes.

I was still standing there very confused and asking myself many questions. But I wasn't going to ask him. As someone once said don't ask questions you don't want the answer to. So I stood there in silence, listening to their conversation.

"Oh yes. Now I remember. Sorry dude. I know your not going to cheat on your own girlfriend like that." He said patting James on the shoulder.

"Yes I know. Speaking of Jessica, have you seen her?" James asked glancing at me.

"Nah man. She's not here. At least not yet." He said

"Okay good. Tell me when she does." James said grabbing my wrist.

"Will do man." He said, than walked away fading into the crowd.

James finally put his full attention on me. Meeting me eye to eye.

"So, you want to dance?" He asked me.

I didn't know what to say. He never told me about his girlfriend. But at the same time I don't know why I even cared. I wanted to have fun, meet new people. Not worry about my non brothers girlfriend.

"No. I'm sorry. I was going to meet some new people." I said without looking at him.

"Oh...Okay. That makes sense. I'll be over there." He said and pointed to the drunk boy named Samuel who had been over here earlier .

"Okay." I said watching him walk away.

I signed, than walking over to the drinks. There were all different types of drinks. Specifically the ones that were able to get you drunk.

As I grabbed a cup a girl next to me had also grabbed on, still dancing. "Looking for the water? Because if so I think the only thing close to a sober drink is the sink water in the kitchen." She said shouting over the loud music.

"Actually I was hoping to get a drink from this table." I said looking around seeing a few drinks that I knew.

I would always sneak out to parties when it was time for bed at the adoptive center. It was fun. But I had always glared at the bar.

I was never brave enough to take that step. Plus I knew that staying sober was the best of ideas.

But tonight I was a full party girl. So I didn't have to watch myself when it came to staying sober. I only had one rule if I had ever gotten drunk. Never let a guy take control of you.

"Brave girl. Your first time living the non sober life?" She asked grabbing a bottle of vodka and filling her cup.

"Was it that obvious?" I asked feeling embarrassed.

"Well I can see that you haven't even filled up your cup yet. You haven't even tried to grab a bottle." She said drinking what was in her cup.

And she was right. I was scared to drink and afraid to get drunk. I didn't know what it felt like to be a drunk person like most of the people at this party did.

"Here, take this. Drink it and see if you like it, and if you don't. Monday I will owe you an ice cream." She said filling up my cup with the same substance as what was in her cup.

"And if I do?" I asked curious of where this bet was going.

"If you do I will show you to a quick game of spin the bottle, for fun." She said smiling at me.

I nod my head agreeing to the terms. Than quickly took a drink of what was in my cup.

The drink had a strong kick to the tongue, but after the kick was gone. It felt like I could drink more.

"Wow that's amazing!" I shouted in excitement.

"I'm glad you like it. Now, time to introduce you to a game of spin the bottle. But with a twist." She said walking me over to a group of kids sitting in a circle.

"What's the twist?" I asked getting curious by the second.

"It's truth or dare." She said sitting me down, than sitting next to me.

" sounds easy." I said smiling.

I watched the boy from across me spin the bottle. And it being my lucky day, it landed on me.

"Oh, I see the new girl has joined us." He said smiling at me.

"Oh just ask me the question already." I said rolling my eyes.

"Wow. Brave girl. Okay, True or Dare?" He asked me.

I thought for a few seconds. Than I decided my answer "Dare."

"Okay, I dare you and Jenna to kiss twice." He said looking at the girl next to me.

" wait your name is Jenna?" I asked her looking in her direction.

"Yeah. It is." She said looking at her cup.

" Um, sorry to interrupt this happy moment. But you have a dare to do. " He said pointing at a fake watch on his wrist.

I rolled my eyes, annoyed at the rushing "Maybe if you'd shut up I can actually do the dare." I said.

He stayed quiet as Jenna and I faced each other. Two kisses on the lips had been done and over with just like two seconds. I didn't see anything in the kisses. But I had no idea if she had thought differently.

"Damnnn you have guts." He said with a surprised expression.

I rolled my eyes this dude is getting on my nerves. I thought to myself still annoyed.

A few hours passed playing spin the bottle and doing ridiculous dares and answering many true questions.

Sooner than later I had got up to find James to reconsider the dance he had requested. But by my surprise I had seen him making out with a girl in the door way of the kitchen and the first thing I thought to do was head straight for the table filled with drinks again.

I poured random drinks into my cup and started to drink it not caring about the risks anymore. Than soon enough I was drunk like everyone else at the party. But the only difference between me and everyone else here, was that I had a reason.
