Chapter 3: Character interview - Nathalie Davis

As I'm writing the last chapters, here's another interview chapter, just for fun ;). Let's start, shall we?

----

Setting: It's raining outside, little coffee corner, Author is reading a random magazine, while thinking of the next person to interview: Nathalie Davis.

Full name: Nathalie Emma Davis

Age: 17 years

The little bell that hangs above the door, jingles when the door opens. A person comes in, completely unrecognizable because of the yellow raincoat and big hood covering their face. When the person reveals their face The Author waves her over.

'Nathalie Davis.'

The person walks over to The Author and she shakes hands. 'Yes, that's me. Nice to meet you.' As she's sitting down, she hangs her coat on the back of the chair. 'I've heard you wanted to interview me as well?'

'Ah. Did Inez tell you?'

Nathalie smiles. 'Yeah, we're all pretty close. To be honest, I don't know if I can provide any good information, although I'll try of course.'

The author waves Nathalie's worries away. 'Don't worry about it. As I told Inez as well; there are no good or bad answers. And I'm very interested in your side of the story.'

'Sure thing!'

*Nathalie orders a coffee and the conversation starts.

'So.' The author begins. 'Tell me a little about yourself and what your connection is with Morrow.'

'Right.' Nathalie drinks her coffee and continues: 'Well, I'm very good friends with Morrow. She's not the average person, which made her more interesting than the other kids. We met in middle school, where I defended her from some guys. It wasn't a very big deal to me, but to her it was and we became friends quickly after that. We hung out every day, as one does when you're in high school, but one day she wasn't at school.' Nathalie looks down at her hands clasping the coffee mug. 'I didn't really think it was weird. She often just didn't show up for class. Morrow has a really weird relationship with her parents, like a love-hate relationship. So, sometimes she needed some time to herself. After a few days, she'd show up and that was it.'

'You never asked why she'd leave like that? She could've told you, right?'

Nathalie shrugged. 'True, but if people don't tell you something, they usually have a good enough reason, at least for them, to not tell you. I did offer a listening ear of course, but that's about it.'

Nathalie scraped her throat and continued. 'As I was saying, she'd sometimes disappear, but she would always show up a few days later. One time she didn't. I tried calling her after a few days, but it went straight to voicemail. I didn't have the number of her parents, so I went by her house one day. Turned out she had moved away. She never told anyone.' Nathalie looked down.

The Author stayed silent for a little while. 'Do you know why she disappeared like that?'

Nathalie shrugged again. 'It's not my place to tell you, but let's just say Morrow moved away for very good reasons. The same reasons why she never told people what had happened to her. But I do know. I'm really glad she confided in me and told me what happened. But you really should talk to Morrow about this.'

'I will and thank you regardless, for telling me what you can. For now, how about we talk about some different things?' The Author offered.

'Please.' Nathalie smiled. 'Don't mind me ordering another coffee first.'

'Of course not.'

*Interview ends after a short while and The Author thanks Nathalie for coming.
