Chapter 3: Perks

[Perks]

[Slot 1- Unlocked]

[Slot 2- Locked]

He already loved his semblance, just from taking one look at it.

Though he had to wonder was a system or just his semblance, after wondering for a moment, he realized he simply didn't care.

If some god or something put him on Remnant or if it was just pure cosmic randomness, it wouldn't change his actions or goals.

After standing there and wondering about his place in the universe, Amaranth had taken a look at him and said, "Hey, your semblance is unlocked, you can leave now."

He shrugged and stepped out of Amaranth's office, closing the door behind him. He looked and noticed there was a waiting room, not too far off, and decided to sit there while he figured out his semblance.

He looked over the screen that appeared there and clicked on Slot 1.

[Student of Dust I]

[Nightmare Hunter I]

[Manhunter I]

[Silver Tongue I]

All of them were pretty self-explanatory. Except for Nightmare Hunter, which just made him more skilled against Grimm.

All of them were the same, [User is slightly () while this perk is equipped.]

Though he was expecting his perks to be permanent, they could be changed. He thought it was for the best, so he could change them for whatever the situation required.

What bothered him was that it didn't tell him how to improve his perks. He was just left guessing and he simply assumed he needed to reach a hidden condition.

He then realized it was a waste to simply have no perk equipped, so he chose [Fast Learner I], which was what would help him most in day to day life.

At the moment, he was equipped he felt something changing in his aura, he felt as if a thousand ants were crawling under his skin. He fussed a bit before calming down and realizing it was his semblance at work, equipping the perk.

He then took out his scroll and press the timer for future reference.

After that he was left with nothing to do, so he decided to look for his apartment in Vale.

-LB-

He had to admit, Vale was pretty awesome. He imagined it would be like New York. He was right, it was like that and futuristic.

There were holographic screens everywhere, numerous ads running by them, and news reports. It was remarkably different than be was used to.

He even noticed and a gym for API, it had three whole floors and he could see huge dumbbells with more weight than was humanly possible, for him anyway.

With that sight came excitement, he was an exercise enthusiast and couldn't wait to get started. Maybe even call...

With that, his mood was ruined, as the realization of never seeing his family and friends came to his mind. There were worlds away.

It was more likely than not that he would never see them again, as there was no guarantee that time moved at the same rate in both worlds.

Then the weight of his actions came to him, he could save Vale, everything around him. But he was no soldier, he had no training in fighting.

He had never even thrown a punch!

If the real Jaune Arc was in his place with his knowledge he would do anything in his power to save this city.

But he wasn't. It was only him, but he would try to do the same.

He felt a bit bad about having his body, but he wouldn't apologize as he didn't ask for this, but he would try to take on his dreams.

Become a Hero.

He soon entered his apartment and it was... normal. It was a studio department, meaning there were only one room and the bathroom. There were just a few shirts around and a few dishes laying on the kitchen counter.

Nothing that screamed 'part of the main cast.'

He didn't know what he expected, but he soon realized that he didn't know anything about him as he didn't have any memories and the show didn't give him a lot of depth.

But that could be applied to many people on the show. Sure he knew a few of their backstories, but no more than a mere acquaintance would, maybe even less.

Things were vague in RWBY.

With that, he laid on the couch that was at the feet of the bed and took out his scroll.

But when he did, he saw the timer and was in about forty minutes in. He realized he had forgotten about keeping track of the changes in his aura.

He called on his semblance and it appeared.

[Perks]

[Fast Learner I]

[Slot 2- Locked]

There it was, his semblance. Pretty underwhelming. A childish part of him wanted something flashy, but he squashed it, he didn't need flashy, he needed effective.

He then noticed an alert in the second slot.

[Achievement 1/5]

It seemed he needed achievements to unlock more slots, and he guessed the first was for the first time using his semblance, but he couldn't be sure as there was no record log.

It was then that he realized that he didn't only have a semblance, but an aura as well.

He dug into his stomach and pulled on his aura towards his hands. After a few minutes, a black sheen rippled as it covered his hand.

He held back a groan as he saw his aura, he had hoped it would be white, so he could flash it and blind his enemies for a second or two.

At least he could be stealthy with it, not like he ever planned on being sneaky.

With a bit of disappointment, he took his scroll and did some research.
