Chapter 13: Fault

A/N, this chapter is to illustrate the fact that Malekith doesn't quite understand perspective yet.

POV Oriana

Mistake, this mission had been a huge mistake. The Curator was an enigma to her at first, people spoke of an unimaginably powerful force user, one who had been so secure in his power the Sith Empire gave him independence. She had assumed that his power had been based on appearance, but then she had felt it. A power so mesmerizing, yet so destructive, had pushed into her mind. It reminded her of water, it seemed so gentle, but then you see the effects of a flood.

Everything about the presence had alerted her to danger, but when she found a composed man meditating in a quiet room, her brain hadn't connected the dots. Now she knew how this man had secured a meeting with the Grandmaster of the Jedi order by virtue of his title.

She felt guilty, being so distant, so wary, but how could she not be? The more she learned, the more terrifying this man became. He had artifacts in his hold that beckoned to her before she had boarded the Starsearcher, but he overshadowed them entirely.

Then there was René, a young woman so resistant to the Jedi she had nearly killed her peer to stay away. The girl was a beautiful little thing, but her power was something that would scare any knight alone, let alone the fact she had the guidance of The Curator and the previous Sith.

Oriana supposed that her biggest issue was that there was no darkness in either of her hosts. Nearly 30 years with the Jedi had not prepared her for seeing such balance from two people actively against what a Jedi should be. But, she needed to get over herself, she had been nothing but disrespectful to a man arguably doing a good thing. She also needed to spar, and René wasn't super fond of her.

POV Malekith

An apology from his lovely guest was not what he had been expecting when he woke up that morning, but it's what he received. Oriana had made it clear that most of her unease was caused by shock and unwillingness to believe her eyes, and that her fear was childish. René had also received an apology, but one probably less intense.

Oriana had asked them about their hobbies and lifestyle. Malekith decided to bring her to the art gallery he held onboard. He had taken after Thrawn and created a secondary bridge, command room, and gallery in a subsection of the living quarters. Being in the trade, he figured he'd keep some of the nicer pieces he picked up every now and then. His preferred art was relief sculptures and tapestries. He had bought as many pieces from Alderaan, just in case the planet's destruction remained necessary, so he had quite a few stockpiled around. AQ primarily operated out of Coruscant, Muunilist, and Correlia, all three planets being major trade hubs, and were doing very well.

Oriana seemed to enjoy the landscapes of various mountain ranges he had in a small divide of the gallery. Malekith spent most of the time admiring her, but he would never admit that to anyone.

René had abstained from exploring the gallery. Contrary to her nature, she loved art, but she wasn't the type to stare and admire it for long amounts of time.

"What is this piece?", Oriana asked while looking at a Mandoa piece from the old sith wars depicting a man in traditional armor carrying a pitch black saber.

"That would be Tarre Visla, the Mandalorian Jedi. He was the first wielder of the Dark saber, a relic giving the right of Mandalor to the owner."

"Why would it be called the dark saber?"

"It is pitch black with a corona of white light. Beautiful blade."

"It's real...and you've seen it?"

"I'm a man that is widely known as The Curator, and you're asking if I haven't taken the chance to see an artifact?", he chuckled, "No, I have not seen it in person, but the blade is very real."

"Well, I've done nothing but sit for a couple weeks, care for a spar?"

He hadn't been expecting that one, but he'd acquiesce.

"I don't have a particular reason not to, so I'd be happy to."

They walked together towards the 'Cortosis room's as he had deemed it. To avoid unnecessary damage when he sparred with René, he had the room outfitted with a thin layer of Cortosis on all sides.

Walking to the far side of the room, he got into a ready stance, and prepared.
