Chapter 12: Negotiated

"I want you to become Fan Fan's personal translator," Wang Zenghao had proposed to Chen Waan. She was speechless.

"What benefit do you get out of it?" she had directly asked. It was not like the incident had become any hindrance to Mo Yifan. She was the one who was suffering. Why would he want to hire her like that?

"If you come meet me, I will explain my plan to you. It's definitely not a losing deal for you," was what he had said and cut the call. How was she supposed to make a decision based on just that?

She had mulled over it for hours at length. But again, if she thought it properly, she really did not have anything to lose. She had already lost her scholarship, her chance at the degree and her visa. Now she did not have anywhere to go. Even if she went back to Thailand, where would she live?

While these questions had circled her head, she had gotten the results to her language exam. It was not surprising that she had a perfect score, she was already expecting it. But the perks that came with the rank was something she had no idea would happen.

Truly it was suspicious. Of course, it was not unusual for Cultural Ministry to organize a week or so exchange program for such language learners but these benefits were above and beyond. And when she had arrived here, the treatment itself meant that this could not be sponsored by the government. And lo and behold, her doubts were absolutely correct!

"Fine, fine, I am not in a mood to argue. Did you think over it? I even have your contract ready," Wang Zenghao threw the contract document in front of her. She stared at it for a minute, without lifting it off the table or anything.

"Would you not explain to me why you have such interest in me?" Chen Waan finally asked, taking a seat at the sofa on the side. She looked around curiously. This small office on the topmost level of the building, which would be around thirtieth floor or something, was quite small, yet it had everything.

The exquisite musical instruments adorned the walls. It was well lit by the sunlight. Rather than blinds, there were curtains on the wall sized glass windows. It was an excellent space for creative ideas. Was it at such a dreamy place that he came up with the idea of her being the translator?

"I mean, you could hire me as a translator for the whole company, why assign me to just one person?" she relaxed on the seat and looked up at the owner of the agency arrogantly, her clear and limpid eyes gazing at him sharply.

The expression of hers not only stunned the assistant and Mr. Fan on the side, it also elicited "Very interesting" out of Wang Zenghao.

"You girl, I must say, are worthy of nurturing. Mr. Fan, sign her up for acting classes," he ordered Mr. Fan who scurried away to take care of the procedures.

"Hey, I haven't agreed," Chen Waan clenched her fists. What was the attitude of this guy like he already owned her? He did not even ask if she wanted to get into entertainment industry and was already ordering her around?

"You tell me kid, despite knowing that it was me who was making arrangements for you, you still came all the way here. Does it not mean you have already made the decision in your heart?" Wang Zenghao sipped the tea slowly and meticulously from the cup his assistant had served him just now. He was already sure of his victory. And why should he not be? He was the topmost entertainment agencies in China after all.

Chen Waan sneered. This man most probably thought that the world revolved around him eh? She closed her eyes to calm herself down. To deal with arrogant pricks like this, she needed to use a different strategy. "Let's hear you out Director Wang."

"Good girl. It is not difficult to back trace that Mo Yifan was indeed there. Somewhere some day it is going to come out. I am just taking measures. I do see a lot of talent in you as well, I truly want to debut you as…,"

Before Wang Zenghao could finish his sentence, Chen Waan cut him off in between.

"Wait wait, where did my debut come in between? I thought you wanted me to hire as a translator?"

Wang Zenghao chuckled, "Oh well, you are still a naïve girl. I had thought I had found a rare prodigy. Never mind. We are an entertainment business, why would we need to hire an inexperienced translator like you when we could get best of the best?"

"Well, that is true. Sorry for jumping in," she spread her arms, putting her elbows on the backrest like a thug, as if she owned the place.

The assistant on the side felt indignant for his master, this girl was just too arrogant. But what had they not seen in their lives, from haughty artists with princess syndrome to coward introverts? At least this girl had some brains in her.

"So, my plan is to debut you with Mo Yifan as a unit," Wang Zenghao spoke seriously. This girl before him was an extraordinary talent, she had a knack for acting. With some training and then addition of effects, she could also become an idol. All she needed was some make-up and perhaps some plastic surgery.

This would be the first duo ever to officially debut as a girlfriend-boyfriend pair. Ahem, he had very conveniently eliminated the latter part from the information. But this lass would understand in time.

What he did not understand was the hostility in her eyes he was seeing. Did she have a beef with him or something?

Chen Waan scoffed. She shifted her legs and crossed them. This old man had gone mad. She did not have any singing skills at all, he wanted to debut her as a unit? With Mo Yifan, the famous idol? Impossible!

"What, you don't like the idea?" Wang Zenghao was amused at her reaction. He was giving her the opportunity of lifetime, and she was just refusing it outright?

"It's not about liking, you have no idea how bad my skills are. Plus, I am just a linguistics student, are you sure you want me to throw in this industry?" Chen Waan still could not understand this man's penchant for discovering talent. He flew her here after watching just one not so high-quality video to recruit her as an idol? And wasn't she too old at eighteen for training and all?

Wang Zenghao stood up from his seat and headed towards the window. Just near the curtains on his left side, there was a huge humidifier running, fluttering the curtains slightly. The man in the sunlight with teacup in his hand looked ethereal from the back. This was the aura of people in the entertainment industry?

"I heard you don't remember much before your days at orphanage. You did enter that place at five years old, I don't blame you," he said looking into the distance. Then he suddenly turned around and declared, "I will help you find your parents."
