Chapter 14: Rushwell Gang

Elaine dragged Orion out of the bar and said, "thanks for helping me with this, I know you don't need to do it but it's nice that you are willing to".

"When did I say I was going to help you? Oh never mind I see how important this is for you and besides you are the captain I have to do what you tell me to. The problem is I left my weapon at the squad building, so I don't know if I'll be of any use".

"Fine, wait here I'll get your sword, ill also take the bag you had to your quarters might as well, right?" Said Elaine going instead to retrieve the bag, "I'll be off then, I should be back in 10 minutes or less".

After that Elaine began dashing for the base leaving Orion outside the bar, the alley was nerving him in a way he hadn't experienced before so he decided to go back inside.

"So you're back? After I saw Elli go back inside I thought you two would leave for the gang," said Syph.

"Yeah I left my sword back in base, Syph was it? can you tell me why you haven't told the police or the government about this gang?" Asked Orion getting back to where he sat before.

"The Rushwell gang has the police in their pockets and the government won't help us over in this district, trust me I already tried. The most we can do is pay their "protection" fees and hope they won't bother us".

"So I know that you raised Elaine but what exactly are you to her?"

"I was a friend of Elaine's mother, I was a part of the same team she was in the white tiger guild, we got a clear mission but we got the wrong intel, the monsters there were much stronger then we could handle and Elaine's mother had to sacrifice herself to save me that happened 19 years ago when Elaine was only 5 years old. I've raised her ever since," Syph explained the story to Orion.

"Must have been hard for her then".

Just then the door to the bar opened and Elaine came in holding Orion's sword, "Sorry it took a little bit but this thing was heavy".

"So you really want to do this then?" Syph asked.

"Yeah, I do! Nex was a long time friend. I can't believe you aren't fighting for her too," Elaine said to Syph who was washing the bar counter

"...." Syph stood there in silence as the only people in his bar left.

After a couple of minutes of walking, Elaine pointed out a clubhouse, and just next to it two men with black suits were having a conversation with 5 or so people.

"Quick get behind one of those boxes," Elaine whispered.

"What's going on? Who are those two? they don't look like gang members," Orion asked in a hushed voice.

"Those two look like the prime minister's guards, but why would they be here?"

"Do you think the prime minister is working with the Rushwell gang?"

"Could be, for now, let's just watch," Elaine said to Orion.

Orion observed what happened next, the two men were conversing with some members of the Rushwell gang and then one of them took a small bag out of his pocket.

"Remember our deal, the prime minister doesn't like to be wronged, for you who are outcasts it wouldn't be surprising if some of you disappeared, you get us what we want and you get paid, but if you don't then I guess some of you will just have to disappear," said the guard who wasn't holding the bag.

"Yes sir, we have what you wanted, but we lost one so there will only be 9 women this time," said what seemed like the leader of the group.

"Fine but don't fail us again, we will need 11 more women for the next meeting, take care to arrange this. Here is your payment," said the man while he was giving the group leader the bag he had in his hands.

"Orion you were right, it appears that the Rushwell gang is, in fact, working for the prime minister. But why is the prime minister buying women?" Said Elaine.

"Elaine, what do you want to do? You can't fight the prime minister, I think we should do what Syph said and just back off it's not worth it," said Orion.

"If the prime minister is buying women then we need to stop him, for now, though let's go back to base and see if the rest of the team will help us after hearing the news," Elaine said to Orion while they both started crawling away from the scene.

Orion and Elaine went straight back to base not stopping for anything. They arrived at the door when it was already dark out and saw Jack heading inside, so naturally, they all three headed inside. Elaine then called a meeting and explained the situation.

"You all understand the situation, right?" Elaine asked.

"I still can't believe you saw the prime minister's guards buying from the Rushwell gang, and Elaine I'm sorry about Nex, I know you two were friends," said Jack.

"You guys don't have to help me take him down, I won't be mad or disappointed if you chose not to help," said Elaine to the group gathered in front of her.

"Are you kidding me? Captain, you saved my life in the wetlands, I owe you this much at least," retorted Sith.

"I'm in too," said Eric.

After a couple of moments passed Elaine asked, "how about you Jack? are you in or not?".

"What the hell what do I have to lose, I already have nothing. I'm in," Jack responded to the question.

"Orion how about you, I know we haven't gotten to know each other much over the past 4 months but I'm hoping that you would consider it," said Elaine.

"Oh, what the hell, I've gone this far with you already I don't see why I can't end it with a bang," Orion said while getting up showing his resolve.

"So it's settled then we're going to do this, we are going to go dethrone the prime minister tonight, everyone get ready we will leave in 2 hours for the prime minister's mansion," Elaine said out loud.
