Chapter 3: 002

Ana awoke the next morning to her alarm and was so nervous she accidentally got ready at super speed. She then noticed the time and decided it would be better if she got a second bottle of blood due to being so on edge. Her parents approached her, seeing how nervous she was.

"Just be careful alright? Don't let the Argent girl know. At least from what we know, they don't know about you." Her mother said with a sigh. Ana's head snapped straight up.

"I'm not scared for me, okay! I am not afraid that they are gonna hurt me. I'm afraid they are gonna get you dad! I can't see you come running in nearly dead!" She cried before wrapping her arms around her dad. She didn't want to tell them she was worried about control and at moments like this, she felt out of touch with her humanity. She went out side and noticed Stiles was early. The girl grabbed her cigs and bag, but also grabbed some headphones and her phone. She said goodbye to her parents before leaving. Stiles watched the girl come outside and noticed the way she looked so tired and on edge. As soon as she buckled, Stiles took off.

"Hey, what's wrong?" He asked, visibly concerned. Ana gave a side glance to him before going almost completely off the hook.

"I- have you ever had some part of you that was so... dark that you sometimes lost yourself in it? Like once you get scared you have a more cruel side ready to protect you but also ruin all the things you care about?" Ana rambled, her hands sweating.

"What do you mean?" Stiles asked, geniunly concerned for one of his best friends.

"I- I just know that Scott is going to hear some pretty terrible things about me and my family but they aren't entirely true. I know he's going to freak which then means he'll tell you. I don't want you to be scared of me, and I try my best to be the best for both of you guys. Just please know that whatever Scott learns and tells you is only a partial truth, and I would never try to hurt anyone. Okay?" The girl knew Derek was going to spill her secret. Werewolves didn't exactly trust vampires and for good reason. Most of them were pure evil but she wasn't like them and she wanted him and her friends to not be scared. Stiles held Anastasia's hand.

"I promise that we will always listen to you. I trust you Ana." He then gave the girl a hug before they got out. Ana didn't even really speak much that day. Her nerves set her on edge and she had felt as though she would loose control. She then went to the Lacrosse scrimmage and sat down next to Mae, hopefully she would have been able to calm down Ana a little. Mae quickly noticed Ana's shaky hand and looked into the other girls' eyes.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Mae asked tentatively. The girl held the others' hand and rubbed gentle circles with her thumb.

"family problems." Ana gave a weak smile to Mae. Mae held the girl close, trying not to make everything too obvious, so while they were worried and stressed they just watched the field. Scott was there but Stiles was no where to be seen. suddenly he was spotted running in all his gear up to Scott, Ana noticed his urgency and made sure to listen carefully.

"Scott, wait up! You gotta' hear

this." Stiles called.

"I'm playing the first elimination, Stiles. Can't it wait?" Scott said annoyed. It was obviously due to the full moon tonight.

"Just hold on. I overheard my Dad on the phone. The fiber analysis came back from LA. They found animal hairs on the body from the woods." Stiles was obviously nervous while Scott just seemed to get more and more frustrated.

"Stiles, I have to go." He said turning back around to the field.

"You're not going to believe what the animal was--" Stiles tried but Scott already had his helmet on and was running to the field, leaving Stiles. "It was a wolf."

"All right, gather round..." Coaches voice pulled Ana away from the event with Scott and Stiles. Then Scott noticed Allison sitting up in the bleachers near Ana and waved. Allison waved back but Ana just glared at him.

"You got a question, McCall?" Coach asked making Ana giggle slightly.

"What?" Scott replied visibly confused.

"You raised your hand." Coach answered. Scott realized coach thought he was confused.

"Oh, no I was just--nothing. Sorry." Scott dismissed himself, letting the coach continue.

"All right, you know how this goes. If you don't make the cut, you're most likely warming the bench the rest of the season. But make the cut and you play, your parents are proud, your girlfriend loves you, everything else is cream cheese. Now show me what you got!" Coach told the team. They all got set up and then the whistle blew. Everyone is moving so fast and it's truly brutal. Jackson then full on knocks Scott down hard on the ground. Scott gets up, visibly angry and Ana watches with wide eyes. She's worried he's about to lose control. The whistle blows again and they watch as Scott then flips through the air shocking everyone there before making the goal. Everyone cheers except Stiles and Ana.

"McCall, get over here!" Coach yells. Scott walks over and is worried he's about to be punished. But then he notices someone else by the crowd... it's Derek.

"What in the name of God was that? This is a lacrosse field. Are you trying out for the gymnastics team?" Coach questioned. Scott looked intimidated.

"No, Coach." Scott replied.

"Then what the hell was that?" Coach asked again.

"I don't know. I was just trying to make the shot." Scott scrambled for words.

"Well, you made the shot. And guess what? You're starting, McCall. You just made first line." Everyone cheered at Coaches words. Scott smiled wide excited. He didn't notice Ana or Stiles looking incredibly worried or Jackson staring at him furiously. When everyone left, Ana gave a quick goodbye and followed Stiles. They raced to his house, Stiles finally knew Scott was a werewolf. They sat there getting research although Ana already knew what was happening. She tried to tell him things without being suspicious. Scott knocks on the door startling both of the teens. He enters looking confused as to why they needed him there so urgently.

"Get in. You have to see this. We've been reading. Websites, books, all this information." Stiles explained seeming very rushed.

"How much Adderall have you had?" Scott asked Stiles. Stiles almost shrugged it off.

"A lot. Doesn't matter. Just listen." Scott quickly jumped to conclusions about this whole conversation.

"Is this about the body? Did they

find who did it?" Scott asked.

"No, they're still questioning

people. Even Derek Hale--" Stiles answered.

"The guy from the woods-- " Scott filled in.

"Yeah, but that's not it." Ana interrupted.

"What then?" The boy seemed confused.

"Remember the joke the other day? Not a joke anymore. The wolf. The bite in the woods. I

started doing all this reading and-- Do you even know why a wolf howls?" Stiles explained in a rushed voice.

"Should I?" Scott asked, slightly annoyed.

"It's a signal. When a wolf is alone it howls to signal its location to the rest of the pack. So if you heard it howling that mean there's others. Maybe a whole pack of them." Stiles looked at Scott hoping the teen was understanding what Stiles was saying.

"A pack of wolves?" Scott asked, wondering why this was important.

"No. Werewolves." Ana replied. Scott rolled his eyes.

"You're seriously wasting my time with this? You know, I'm picking Allison up in an hour." He was definitely frustrated at the two.

"We saw you on the field, Scott. What you did wasn't just amazing. It was impossible." Ana backed up Stiles.

"So I made a good shot." Scott replied arrogantly.

"No, you made an incredible shot. The way you moved--the speed, your reflexes--people can't suddenly do that overnight. And then there's the hearing, the senses, and don't

think we haven't noticed you don't need your inhaler anymore. You haven't used it since that night." Stiles explained frustrated.

"I can't think about this now. We'll talk tomorrow, okay?" Scott tried to dismiss the duo.

"Tomorrow? Don't you get it The full moon is tonight." The urgency fully noted in Stiles' voice.

"What are you trying to do? I just made first line on the team. I have a date with a girl I can't believe wants to go out with me. Everything in my life is somehow perfect. Why are you trying to ruin it?" Scott yelled.

"We're trying to help. With the full moon it's going to be too hard to resist and there's no going back. You're cursed, Scott. And it's not only that the moon causes you to change, it's also when your bloodlust will be at its peak. Believe me, you have no idea the temptation you will have, and being at that party is putting everyone in danger Scott." Ana yelled. Stray tears rolling down her cheeks.

"Bloodlust?" Scott asked.

"Your urge to kill." Ana replied, her voice almost having a darker tint to it.

"I'm already starting to have an

urge to kill." Scott growled at the two.

"You need to hear this. The change can be caused by anger or anything that raises your pulse. And I've never seen anyone raise your pulse

like Allison does. You have to call her and cancel the date." Stiles told him before grabbing Scott's phone out of his jacket.

"What are you doing? Give me that." Scott growled again.

"I'm just finding her number--" Stiles tried before Scott interrupted him.

"Give it to me." Scott says lowly before pushing Stiles against the wall, getting ready to strike. Ana feels her anger take over and pulls Scott off and throws him back. Her eyes a tinge darker. Scott looks shocked. He then slammed his fist against Stiles' desk.

"I didn't mean to do that." He says, sorrow and fear filling his voice. He went to move to help Stiles but the other boy flinched. Scott backed away, fear controlling him.

"I'm sorry. Really, I didn't mean

it. I have to go. I have to get

ready for the party. I'm sorry." He grabbed his jacket and ran. Stiles then looked at Ana confused.

"How did you do that?" He asked in pure wonder.

"Maybe the adrenaline?" She tries to dismiss it. The two then notice the claw marks on the back of Stiles' chair and fear starts to truly sink in. Stiles and Ana try to think of what to do before they ultimately decide to go to the party and rushed over to Lydia's house. They tried to blend in and  watch Scott. Ana did a much better job. She watched and noticed him starting to change. She then saw him looking right past her. she followed his gaze and saw Derek. Finally it was all too much and Scott ran, trying to find anyway to leave. He accidentally bumped into Harley, while Ana managed to avoid being noticed and tried to follow him inconspicuously. Scott ran all the way to his house. Stiles following behind Ana and arriving at Scott's house shortly before Stiles. He looked at her confused.

"I'll stay out here in case he starts running." She says and he runs in. She can hear them arguing and Scott changing.

"It's Derek. Derek Hale's the

werewolf. He's the one who bit me. He's the one who killed the girl in the woods." Scott yelled to Stiles. Ana knew something was off. When someone first gets bit, you can smell the other wolf that bit and it didn't smell like Derek.

"Scott... Derek's the one who drove Allison from the party." Stiles replies. Oh shit, was all Ana could think before Scott jumped out of his window and went running. She used her super speed, almost catching up to him. She followed until she noticed Derek was there and Slowly backed away. Derek pounced out from the dark and tackled Scott. They fought before they both calmed down slightly.

"Where is she?" Scott growled, his voice having a demonish tint.

"She's safe. From you... and her." Derek pointed out Ana. Scott looked lost by both parts of Derek's reasoning.

"What did you do--" Scott growls before Derek cuts him off.

"Quiet!" Derek hissed. Ana immediately knew what was happening and tried to scan out and see the hunters.

"It's too late, they're already here. Run." Derek says lowly. Ana and Derek start to leave but Ana noticed Scott moving too slow and turns to go and grab him when she is shot with an arrow to the shoulder. Scott sees and is filled with terror but watched her pull it out and run. He tried to move but it was too late, the shot him in the forearm and was stuck to the tree behind him. Derek turned back around and ripped the arrow out.

"Go!" He yells and they finally start to catch up to Ana.

"Faster!" Derek yells again. They all finally reach a clearing and lost the hunters. Due to using so much of her powers Ana has fully transformed.

"Who were they?" Scot asks, panting.

"Hunters. The kind who've been hunting us for centuries." Derek answers glaring at the young vampire.

"Us? You mean you. You did this to me!" Scott yelled back.

"Is it that bad, Scott? That you can see better, hear more clearly, move faster than any human could ever hope? You've been given something most people would kill for. The bite is a gift. At least your little pet vampire over there gets it." Derek fought back. Ana stood to the side, finishing healing. She glared her all black eyes at the other werewolf. Scott looked up confused and shocked to see what Ana truly looked like.

"I don't want it." Scott said, almost as if he was also telling Ana and it hurt. She looked ready to cry.

"You will. And you're going to need me if you want to learn to control it. You and me Scott. We're brothers now." Derek explained. Derek left and Scott looked at the girl.

"Go, I don't want to be near you right now." He told her. Ana nodded.

"Im sorry... I-I wish you never had to know." The girl spoke soft, as if she was about to break. She then ran home and laid in her bed crying. She knew it was going to happen that night, but why did it have to hurt so bad.
