Chapter 4: Dr. Bates
Edgar Jackson Bates was The Ultra's go to when they needed to reel someone in. With The Ultra, you never knew what they were bound to do, what they would find out, and how far they would go to find the information. The Ultra was an organization in which hunted those of inhuman abilities. And in their opinion, they were a danger; who needed to be understood and treated as nothing more than vermin who were invading earth.
Julie became their main target for she was a therapist to dozens of inhuman beings and none other than her own offspring, an illegal hybrid. An immaculate metaphysical being with emense powers, powers she has yet to understand due to her past illnesses...
"Dr. Bates. I'm glad you were able to answer." A horse voice sounded over the phone.
"Of course sir. Is there something I can help you with today?" Bates' gulped.
"How open is your schedule?"
"Fairly vacant sir." Bates' voice began to crack. The Ultra of use him, again.
"Good. We have a task for you. Please read it carefully in your email. Let us know if you have any questions."
The line went dead.
Sweat began to flood every pour. Edgar knew what he was getting himself into when agreeing to work for a secret government, but all the same, he didn't want to cause harm. He wanted to protect and save. When he learned what The Ultra did to those put into the M.E.A program, he tried to quit.
Vlad Zelger, the head of The Ultra, had sent him a warning notice of all he may lose in an evident notice of his resignation. Including his life.
In the email, his task was to get Julie Mayers, a past lover, into custody for questioning for she was hiding a very illegal supernatural. He dreaded this. He hated to have to see the in fear in her eyes, in fear of her life as she was escorted out by our agents. But his own life was at stake and he was, somehow, going to make everything right.
Before meeting with Adalynn, Bates began hunting through Julie's belongings to find anything on Adalynn, instead, he found Julies' own notes. On what she had taught herself to do. And he had begun to realize all the things Julie was truly capable of. Dream invasion and manipulation, sleep inducement, misdirection, trickery, manipulation, coercion, and hypnosis was just a small list. She was an extremely strong vampire, with fairy blood belonging to the sprite race and witchcraft knowledge. In which meant she could and would contact Adalynn, so he ensued in his retreat. Destroying his phone. Crashing his car. Whatever it took to make The Ultra lose his tracks, for he was going to that camp.
The only thing nagging at his mind were the boys. The boys he had helped Vlad put into the program, the only thing he knew to do now was to rescue them, but he needed Adalynn's help. But how was he going to convince her that she once knew them, and they needed her help.
