Chapter 157: Mess ( III )

The Sekrina Root had been the one that was put in her father's cup. She remembered it due to the low potency and due to it, Magnus had been sentenced to death. He had pleaded for his son's life, begged to save him—as punishment, Asterias had his face burned. A mask was put on his person and for the rest of his life, he lived in solitude. War-hardened and unable to socialize, Asterias was cast aside.

The taste of the wine felt bitter, her tastebuds were achingly slow. Her ailment meant that she couldn't taste much but all of a sudden, it tasted saccharine. It was so very sweet almost rotting sweet.

The story cannot be changed. Fate cannot be modified.

How wrong she was. Lumielle shakily handed the cup back to Asterias as she felt her lashes grow heavier. She had been so terribly wrong.
