Chapter 3: 0.5

= One drunk mishap after another - the show must go on =

I wasn't sure what to do.

Looking around the bar, she was no where to be found, as if she had never even existed. Since I had already paid for my drink, I didn't know if was alright for me to leave without saying something. At least I don't have to pay for his drinks. Now that I think about it the bartender mentioned that his name was Hya...? Hyayansaek? At least I think that's what she called him. I wonder what his parents were thinking when naming him that, or maybe it was a nickname because of his strangely coloured hair...? I should stop thinking about him and get back to my apartment. Shaking my head, I stumble off my chair, and make my way to the door.

As I opened the door to leave, I glanced back to check if the bartender had returned but instead I made eye contact with the aggressive man from earlier. He stared at me intensely, before raising the drink, that I had paid for, and smiled at me. Teeth and all. After I had turned and left, I shuddered slightly thinking about what had just happened.

The smile had not reached his eyes.

Luckily, there wasn't that many people on the street, so I had managed to walk a few blocks, looking behind me every so often. Although, I had leaned against the walls of the buildings to stop myself from falling over, my legs had suddenly gotten weak so I had decided to sit down on the floor and put my head between my knees.

"Ugh..."

I shouldn't have drank that much.

"Ekkkk! I'm sorry, less handsome man! tHE QUEEN NEEDS ME AAND I NEED MY HEAD- "

Huh? That voice sounds familiar. Turning my head to the shrill sound, I saw a short white haired man disappear into an alleyway. Hyayansaek?  I thought I wouldn't see this man again tonight. Struggling to get myself up, I made my way to where I had last seen him. As I turned the corner, a man laid face down in a puddle with a book beside his head.

Hyayansaek was gone.

What is it with people and just randomly vanishing?  I turned the stranger over to check if they were still breathing, as I did so I caught a glimpse of the title of the book from the corner of my eye.

{ A Guide To Survive Wonderland }

"..."

I called an ambulance for the stranger, as I noticed the side of their head was bleeding and I was worried if they were concussed and needed medical assistance straight away. It didn't take long for the ambulance to arrive, leaving me alone with the book in my hands. Did Hyayansaek do that do him, what happened?  I looked at the book in hands, the title was written in messy handwriting. A guide to survive wonderland... huh?  Written at the bottom of the front page was, 'white rabbit:' then underneath, 'Hyayansaek ~---' So this book belonged to that short man who cried all over me... that's weird, I never saw him carry this. I looked down the alleyway as if I would just see him standing there, but instead I saw something strange... Is that the bartender? No I must be seeing things. After I looked again she was gone, but there was something shiny in her place. Curiosity got the better of me and I walked up to the shiny object.

It was just an empty shot glass.

Picking it up, and holding it to a lamp there were no marks, the glass was spotless. The glass must have appeared shiny, because of the light reflecting through it.

"Ah, there you are. You left before I could thank you properly for the drink."

I suddenly heard a voice directly in my ear, which surprised me, causing to drop the shot glass. The glass didn't shatter but rolled away, although I'm not sure where to. Abruptly turning around, I saw the aggressive man from the bar, the one who raised his drink at me before I left. I had expected him to be right behind me when I turned, because of how close his voice sounded, but he was nowhere close to me. He just stood there and the entrance of the alleyway... ominously.

Oh god, is this the night I die?

"You don't have to thank me," for emptying out my wallet "my friend had caused you trouble, so I sorted it out before anyone could yet hurt,"

"Why do you say that?"

"Huh? What do you mean..." I began to back up as the smiling man approached me.

"That someone would get hurt?"

A shadow seemed to fall over his faced, as his un-smiling eyes stared at me. It was if he had forgotten how to blink.

Uhhh... I really don't like this.

"What is there nOT to like, hehehahe!"

I didn't say that out loud...

Their laughter vibrated in my ears. It felt so unnatural for a guy with his disposition to be laughing as hard as this. I held Hyayansaek's book closer to my chest, as if it would protect me. Why did he change so drastically?!

"Tick tock. The queen is waiting~ FOr me? FoR you? Who knows! tEA time Alice! Sip, sip brandy and all~"

This is strange, I'm scared and why do people keep mentioning the queen, and whose Alice? Taking another step back my foot landed on the shot glass, I thought it had rolled away- As I fell backwards, I saw a disembodied grin over me, wasn't my mind was playing tricks on me before, at the bar? Did I actually see that?

I braced myself for the impact: but it never came. I just continued falling, as if a hole had suddenly appeared under me.

The longer I continued falling, the more I was convinced I was actually falling down a hole. Despite how far I thought I had fallen, the man stood at the edge of the hole and stared down at me. This time his smile almost spilt his face in two and his eyes... burned a deep red. He looked so close, yet I had fallen so far..?

"ALICE HAS ARRIVED!"

Their voice rang in my head, as an unknown force covered my eyes. I felt a tugging at my chest, and something sharp trying to prizing my arms open. The book! Do they want it? Well they can't have it. With all my strength I ripped my arms away  and  held the book even tighter to my chest, ignoring the pain flowing through my arms as if they had been torn apart. Then suddenly, another voice whispered directly into my ear.

"Welcome to wonderland. Enjoy your stay..."
