Chapter 2: Chapter One
Imani's POV
"Mani, get your ass off that bed and get ready, we can't be late!" I hear my bestfriend of 3 years, Izaiah, yell from behind my door.
"Don't make me come and get you" he threatens when he doesn't hear any movement.
Groaning, I throw myself off bed, knowing very well Izaiah wouldn't be afraid to break down my door and drag me out, fully dressed or not.
Plus, I remember, Izaiah wanted us to meet two of his very close business partners tonight, who might be willing to let me work for them at their company.
I make my way into my bathroom, and start taking care of all my hygienic needs. Once I'm done, I apply lotion to my body, making sure my chocolate skin was fully moisturized before heading to my closet to begin rummaging through my racks of clothes.
I'm a person to complain about not having clothes when in reality I have too much.
Finally after 30 long minutes, I finally find an outfit I approve of. It's a white off-the-shoulder, ribbed fitted mini dress with blush thigh high heeled boots and a matching blush clutch.(outfit at top) To complete the look, I only applied mascara and lip gloss, and for my hair, I parted my short, black, kinky, curly Afro to the side and kept it down.
Looking into the mirror, satisfied with how I look, I throw a kiss at my reflection and head to my door.
As I make my way downstairs, I'm met with my impatient looking best friend on his phone, he had on a white buttoned down dress shirt, which was tucked into black fitted jeans and on his feet, he had on black dress shoes. Izaiah was of mixed race, his mother was greek, while his father was jamacian. He inherited his dark brown curly and thick hair, Mediterranean tan and well-shaped lips from his mother, while he got his height, face structure and brown, soft looking eyes from his father. In conclusion, Izaiah was simply gorgeous and he knew it.
I met Izaiah while I was a freshman in college and he was a senior, he helped me settle in and welcomed me into his life with no hesitation. At first I found it a little weird, how quick he was to befriend me of all people, especially since he was known as a loner during his high school and college years but my doubts were quick to go away the more I hung out and got to know him. It seemed like he just needed to meet the right person to call a friend.
He was always there when I needed him and vice versa, we grew to love each other more than friends should which led to a one night stand then lead to dating but 8 months later, he breaks it off, when I asked why, his only explanation being that we were better off as friends, even though everything was excellent between us, he was great, the sex was even greater, and I know for a fact that I was as great of a lover as him.
But I guess he wasn't for the commitment anymore. It was difficult to get over him at first, but after a year, I managed. Now I couldn't be more happy with the way things are now.
I'm pulled out of my thoughts when I hear him talking "Damn girl, took you long enough" his face was still buried in his device and I couldn't help but roll my eyes.
As I step forward to pull his phone away, he lifts his head and I watch as his mouth falls open as his eyes roam my body.
"How do I look?" I can't help but ask, knowing what his answer would be.
"Fuckab....Fabulous, now let's go" my eyebrows rise as I notice his slip up, but decide to let it slide, I slip out the front door, thanking him and make my way to the car but what I don't notice is the sharp intake of breath Izaiah takes as I walk past him or how his eyes have trouble removing themselves from my form.
