Chapter 17: History of Konoha

It was two days after my date with Haku and my talk with Hitomi that Minato sent his Anbu to inform me of the Clan meeting. Tsunade also received this summons and decided to come as Matriarch of the Senju Clan so that she could teach me about such meetings in the future. I was allowed to bring one guard, so I brought Haku while Tsunade brought Shizune.

When we arrived at the Hokage's office, we were escorted into a large conference area in the back. The lighting arrangement for the room itself was dark, while the table itself was very brightly lit. I was granted a seat besides Tsunade and Kakashi, who was acting as head of the Hatake Clan, but he was mostly just there as a formality since he told me when we sat down that his clan always only had about a dozen members but recently there were just three members in his clan, though I didn't ask who they were.

The meeting was mostly just a formality due to the start of the Academy year, but it was pointed out that in a few days, ninja from Kumogakure would be here to sign a treaty and that the Hyuga had 'volunteered' to allow them to join their heiresses birthday celebrations.

It was also pointed out that both Kiri and Iwa had signed a mutual defence and shared intelligence treaty, so it was possible that they were preparing for war against one of the major villages. Some thought that they would go after Kiri since it was weakened by its purges, but Shikaku dismissed the theory and posited that since Konoha was too powerful for the other villages to destroy individually, they may be trying to form a grand alliance against them, but that Suna was our strong ally, and Kiri was too weak currently, so if a war did happen, it would be in a few years when Kiri regains its strength.

All clans agreed to increase the training level of their ninja and pledged their support to defend Konoha, even if the Uchiha did so with hesitation.

After that began the introductions. I was introduced to around a dozen major clans, including the Akimichi, Nara, Yamanaka, Uzumaki, Inuzuka, and Aburame Clans. They all seemed to be neutral towards my clan's addition but didn't seem to be outright hostile either, with Shikaku even giving me tips on how to run a clan. Even if he said it was a drag and had a less-than-friendly appearance, he was quite the nice guy.

I also met someone I never thought would be in Konoha. I was introduced to En Oyashiro Chinoike, the patriarch of the Chinoike Clan. I was flabbergasted, but it turns out that his clan was the newest in Konoha before me. His clan had been found by an Uzumaki on a mission before the Third Great Shinobi War and they migrated to Konoha. They were still are slightly hostile to the Uchiha at first, though, during the war, they managed to get over their differences and fought together. Apparently, he has a daughter who is my age and would be in my class, but she is sick at the moment, so she will miss the first few days.

I also met Fugaku. He was subtly aggressive with me since a new potentially powerful bloodline being added to the village would weaken the Uchiha's already weakened state politically. His attitude was noticed by the other clans, which probably didn't help his case. Even if he is a decently good guy, he is too protective of his clan for their own good, making enemies out of allies.

Finally, I was formally introduced to Hiashi Hyuga. He had brought his brother Hizashi Hyuga as a guard. 'Even if he doesn't act like it, he still cares for his brother hu?'

We mostly made small talk about making plans for a future meeting for a marriage between myself and Hinata, but it was clear that this plan was still in its early stages, so there was nothing officially agreed upon. Tsunade said she would be the mediator of the talks, whenever they happened. Before we left the clan meeting, I passed along heavily edited and refined versions of the [Yin Strengthening Method] and the [Yang Strengthening Method] to all other clans.

These edited versions will allow for all of their clansmen to double their physical stats and awaken spring release in the Uzumaki who have the potential, while closing the blindspot of the Byakugan, but not awaken the Mangekyou in the Sharingan. This got me major points since they viewed these techniques as sacred, but they don't even come close to the ridiculous level of the original techniques.

That was quite risky, but I wanted to avoid future conflicts with them and gain their support, so I needed to bribe my future political partners. Besides, from what I observed about the Shimura Clan being absent, Danzo and his ROOT aren't very popular, so if my plan works, then we won't have to worry about them leaking.

...

With the help of Hitomi and her connections, as well as some pressure from Tsunade, I was able to bury my mother the day before the start of the academy.

There was no service, no grand reception, and no old mentors of teammates showed up, but I was able to finally bury my mother's corpse in this life, which lifted an invisible burden on my shoulders that I didn't know I had been carrying. I didn't really know my mother personally, though it still felt like this was the right thing to do, and I had even bought the spot next to her for my father's corpse if I ever find it.

Hitomi and I visited the grave together the morning before the academy's opening day, but I also saw that Hinata had come to offer support. There she officially met Haku, Guren, Amaru, and Karin. Karin was immediately enamored with Hinata, viewing her as pure and unspoiled, while Haku and Guren befriended her on the way to the academy.

The academy was just how I would expect it to be. Boring. But this was ok since I was able to send my bone clones to class in my place while I studied in the library. My clone updated me on most of the current events of the class. Apparently, Naruto was similar to his canon self, though he had better control over his chakra and was more skillful and would make a good rival to Sasuke. I thought that that was good, since in the filler anime episodes when Naruto grew up with his parents, he was always a self-righteous, arrogant jerk. I chalked it up to him being the reincarnation of Ashura, who was always cheerful and happy-go-lucky, to begin with, and moved on.

Sasuke was much more cheerful, if not a little reserved since the Uchiha Clan massacre hadn't happened, so he got along well with Jugo, who had a similar personality. Karin had made a little group with Hinata, Sakura, Ino, and Guren in it and invited them all to hang out after class.

I can finally tell why Naruto was so interested in Sakura for so long, even if she wasn't particularly nice to him. She is ridiculously cute. I know that Haku is cuter, but Sakura isn't far behind. If she didn't have the massive personality issues she did, and I didn't know her personality, I would have probably also pursued her.

While my clone was slaving away during the introductory day, I had snuck off the library. It was time to learn some history lessons. I was shocked by the amount of information that a seven-year-old was allowed to obtain in the academy, but I later made myself come to terms with it because this is a building where we will learn the best ways to kill other people for the next five years.

I started my history research as far back as I could, the Warring States Period. Apparently, most of the information is the same but there were a few key differences that stood out to me. Firstly, the Uzumaki have a Kekkei Genkai called Spring Release. I had known this from reading the description of the [Yang Strengthening Method], but I didn't know what it meant until now.

Spring Release allows the user to have ridiculous regeneration abilities as well as keeping them younger for much longer. This has partially why Mito was still alive and young. The regeneration allowed for Uzumaki to live after a tailed beast extraction, though it was still incredibly painful and taxed the body heavily and resulted in both Mito and Kushina falling into a month-long coma. Secondly, all Uzumaki who awakened spring release essentially had Tsunade's level of Regeneration, where any injury that doesn't instantly kill or result in the loss of a limb or appendage will heal in mere seconds. This granted the Uzumaki Clan with unfathomable battlefield prowess and made the wars against Konoha far more bloody, as everyone was targeting them.

The second piece of information I uncovered revolved around Danzo's weak position currently. Apparently, when Orochimaru had left the village, it was discovered by the Uzumaki Clan that a lot of data about their clan was given to Orochimaru by Danzo, though he claimed to be unaware of the human experimentation. With no hard evidence, he wasn't able to be charged but was still hurt politically, since the info was leaked to the public by the Uzumaki.

Another piece of information is that Kakashi's father is still alive and active as the Head of the Anbu. Sakumo Hatake was even offered the Hokage position ahead of Minato, though, for reason's unspecified, he refused but maintained his position as Anbu Head. I speculate that this has something to do with the fact that Sakumo now has an Uzumaki wife after Kakashi was born, and probably was supported by her and the Uzumaki Clan, so he never committed suicide. Curiously, Kakashi still had a Sharingan, which I assume is Obito's but I am not sure.

It was also mentioned that the Senju Clan had almost completely been obliterated by the Third Great Shinobi War and that, with few exceptions, now they all are comprised of older women and very young couples. It was never stated anywhere, but if one reads between the lines, they can see that the Senju were specifically targeted along with the Uzumaki, but landing fatal blows against prominent members of the Uzumaki Clan with spring release was nearly impossible while killing the Senju was as easy as killing any normal ninja. The Uzumaki only still exist because they made it out of the war with far greater numbers, and since, overall, the Uzumaki are more peaceful, there are more civilian Uzumaki than civilian Senju.

I think the Senju were also betrayed by Danzo since this was just before Orochimaru left the village, and the attacks seem to have stopped nowadays.

I also learned a lot about other villages. Pakura was the Kazekage now in Rasa's place. She was never betrayed by her village, and she was probably kept alive to counterbalance Konoha. They couldn't afford to lose an S-Ranked Kunioichi with a Kekkei Genkai when she can have children who can possibly inherit that Kekkei Genkai. Especially with a much more powerful Konoha at their doorstep. The plan seems to have worked since it is recorded that Pakura has one daughter of my age and two sons.

Kumo had started the Second Shinobi War by attempting to kidnap Kushina and the Uzumaki were furious, since this came at the same time Kumo, Kiri, and Iwa massacred the Uzumaki Branch clan in the Land of Whirlpools, though they deny the attempted kidnapping of Kushina to this day.

Iwa was practically the same, though it seems they are stronger on average after Onoki's son turned out to possess the Particle Style and his daughter Kurosuchi also possess the ability. I am not sure how butterfly effects have led to this development, but it was good to know. Deidara was also a missing-nin still.

As for Kiri, it appears as though the Kekkei Genkai purge was far more aggressive than canon. One of the newer books, published this year in fact, stated that Kiri had started out with the highest number of active elemental Kekkei Genkai Clans, but now has only the Kaguya and Terumi Clans. Obviously, they hadn't printed the news about the Kaguya Clan yet, but I also found out that the Hyuga originated from the Land of Water since their Byakugan could pierce the veil of the thick mist in the country, but they had left for the Land of Fire after the Daimyo of the Land of Water wasn't able to woo the Matriach of the Hyuga and banished them in a rage. This was shortly before the formation of Konoha and the end of the Warring States Period, so his libido really messed up his country.

I suppose this makes sense because the Senju and Uchiha were always close enough to each other in the warring states period to be rivals because they originated from the same family. Apparently, the Hyuga and Kaguya were similar, though less aggressive since they shared many ties. More than likely Black Zetsu wasn't able to start a feud between the ancestors of the Hyuga and the Kaguya like he did for the Senju and Uchiha, since there was no stone tablet left behind by Hamura like the one left behind by the Sage of the Six Paths. I think...

Finally, I was brought to the information about the 9-Tails Incident. Most of the records here are not helpful, since it obviously doesn't tell of Obito's portion of the attack, but I was able to find a lot of information about the events during the 9-Tails battle.

The Uzumaki Clan had rallied together and used their Adamantite Sealing Chains to hold it down while Mito was able to split it in two. The official reason for this was because it was believed the cause of the attack was the 9-Tails being too powerful to withstand a normal seal, and if any female jinchuriki gives birth again, it would just break out. I think the real reason was Minato wanted Naruto to have the 9-Tails as a possible counter to Madara (Obito) in the future. One half was sealed into Naruto, while the other half was sealed back into Kushina. She had already made some strides in controlling his power, so by resealing it into her, it was believed she could one day become a perfect Jinchuriki.

I know that Danzo interfered with the incident so that the Uchiha weren't affected as much and therefore suspected in the original, but in this world, the Uchiha did help, but when Fugaku tried to tame it with his Mangekyou Sharingan, he discovered it was already being controlled by a Sharingan, which is what led to the Uchiha's ostracization in my timeline.

By the time I had finished my reading, it was the end of the day, so we all finished our lessons and headed home. I pope my clone and gained all of its knowledge. Karin, Ino, Sakura, and Hinata all went to a restaurant after school, while I went with Haku and Jugo back to the compound.

What I found there truly shook me.

CREATORS' THOUGHTS
Golden_Slime Golden_Slime

Alright, everyone. A quick chapter out the way for Christmas. This was the obligatory info dump on the current state of the world.

As many of you can tell, Konoha is incredibly strong, so I will be using this fact as a major story plot point during the coming arcs.

Also, for anyone wondering, the Timeskip to where canon should have started will be in two chapters. I already have them planned out, but there is one final event that needs to happen first.
