Chapter 2: Wrath's Melancholy
"Riri, activate stealth mode."
Edward said to the automated voice in his mask as he jumped away from the crowd. The crowd looks to the sky as they see their hero vanish in the air. Everyone shouts in amazement as they see another act of SOFT, especially its leader. Edward lands on the roof of a nearby building. He leap from one roof to another until he's near his bag. He quickly snatched his bag in the alley it's been placed as he continue to leap between rooftops.
"How much farther to school?", Edward asked the automated voice in his mask. in which it replied, "Just a few more buildings sir. Judging from our pace, you can see the school after 5 minutes." The mask has a visual screen that can be manuevered by audiovisual actions of the accepted user. Edward looks at the top right of his screen inside the mask. In there, he can see world-time information such as location gps, tracking, time and date, etc. He looks at the time and saw 7: 50 a.m.
"Let's pick up the pace then.", Edward said as he speed jump through all the rooftops. After a couple minutes, he can see the entrance of the school. "Jump at the back alley of that cafe sir. There's no one right now.", Riri said and Edward does what he's recommended of. As soon as Edward landed on the ground, Riri immediately deactivated the suit, reverting back to watch form, leaving Edward in his school uniform. "Thanks Riri."
Whoever has access to SOFT technology can hear Riri directly in their head, via a new technology called PsycheTransfer or PT, which only SOFT has."I suggest you look at your watch sir.", Riri said. Edward does so and see the hands of the watch turn to 7: 59 a. m.
"Damn it Riri!", Edward cursed his automated assistant as he run to the school, passing the guards on the entrance.
"That's not my fault sir. Like I keep telling you eight years ago, wake up early.", Riri scolded his user. Edward silently groaned.
Finally, Edward arrived to class at exactly 8 a.m. He went to sit at the center back, and took his textbooks out. He then began listening attentively to class as the teacher didn't pay it any mind, like it's everyday that he go to school almost late. "I hate that I'm getting used to this."
"You have no choice in the matter, sir.", Riri clearly states. Edward went silent.
Ugh. Riri is like an uptight maid.
At the cafeteria in the school, a boy is casually eating his food while scrolling through his phone.. Every girl looks at him with awe while every boy looks at him with jealous hatred. "Ah, damn it. Am I drawing attention again?", He said to himself. At his surprise, a voice on his back replied to him.
"Yeah, you are."
He looks at the back and saw a fashionably dressed girl crossing her hands as she looks down to him. "Uh, I was talking to Riri."
"Riri don't need to waste his AI brain cells to answer your rhetorical question, Renz.", the girl replied aggressively.
"Thank you for the save, ma'am Aileen.", Riri states his gratitude to the girl.
"You don't have to be harsh, Ai." Renzy' self esteem went low with his reply. "You too Riri."
"I'm just thanking miss Aileen.", Riri replied back.
"Don't do Riri like that.", Aileen said as she put her arms down in a dropping motion.
"Ugh, nevermind." Renzy gave up. "So what do you want from me?"
"I hear Ed stopped another CA attack just this morning.", Aileen said as she sit across the table, facing Renzy. "Adding Nat's case and yours last week, they're pretty active this month." She crossed her legs as she relays the information to Renzy.
"Knowing that guy, he's gonna summon us in a random time.", Renzy said his honest opinion. "I think it's a great idea, we need to talk about our plan about this."
"I think it's good too.", Aileen stood up from her seat.
"We'll have to wait on that guy's call.", Renzy rests his head on his hand. "
Couple hours later, classes in the morning are finished and students are leaving. Renzy and Aileen are just chilling until a crowd of students suddenly surrounds them. "Uh, we're attracting a lot of attention.", Renzy states the obvious. "Obviously.", Aileen replied and went to grab Renzy by his wrist. "Let's go." Renzy went along with the tugging as they left the crowd with people on their backs.
"You can do it Ai.", Renzy said, half amused.
"You can help by running with your own feet.", Aileen angrily replied.
"Nah I'm good." After hearing Renzy's unenthusiastic reply, Aileen released her grip from the idiot's wrist and left him behind for the crowd to eat him up. "Good luck!", she said, faking a smile. "Ah fu-", before Renzy can finish his sentence, the crowd surrounds him with an awestruck look directly at his eyes. Suddenly, a ring from his phone can be heard by all. He took his phone from his back pocket and look at the caller's info. He picked up the call.
"Cafe near the school. I'll give you 5 minutes, including the time to get out of the crowd."
"Aileen told you huh. Damn it.", Renzy sighed. "I'll be there."
"I forgot to mention, you'll treat everyone free drinks if you're late by seconds. Food and drinks if minutes."
Renzy ended the call as he snaps his fingers, gathering everyone's attention. "Whoever can buy me melon bread from the cafeteria will have 2 hours of playtime with me!" Everyone ran after hearing the reward, even the boys. He activated his suit and told Riri to activate stealth mode.
"Focus all resources on speed."
"Switching to Speed Mode.", Riri commands.
Only a trace of him can be felt is the cold air from him running fast. Soon after, Aileen, Edward and some others appeared, from being hidden with invisibility.
"Do you really have to trick him like that?", one person, a boy, with them asked Edward.
"I just want drinks.", Edward replied. "You can stop him if you want Cris, but at least let him buy our drinks."
"That's coldhearted, nah I'm good. I kinda thirsty too.", Cris replied back.
"Let's go to the cafe.", Edward said. "You got the teleportaion ready Nat?"
A black circle appeared around a girl with pink tips. "Yeah, get inside the circle."
Everyone gets inside the circle. A light shone surrounding them and covers them. Edward smiled silently at the back. Natalie noticed it. "What's so funny?"
"I just like these little things from time to time. We won't have a chance to relive this again."
"I don't wanna hear that sad shit from you. I can feel it too but don't say it.", Cris said.
"That's sad man."
Ah, damn it.
