Chapter 17: Mysteries Still Mysterious

Ye Xing stared at the scene in front of him.

A cave. Natural, dirt and stone, dome-like ceiling.

Small, in that there's only enough space for a person to comfortably walk around a pedestal in the middle of the... cave.

Atop the central pedestal, only a mysterious egg could be seen. The egg was large, almost two meters tall, with glowing markings flashing across its shell. Not only that, but it emanated an odd energy that wasn't mana or spiritual energy. The aura of energy surrounding the egg was also half-condensed into cloud-looking things lazily circling around it. As if divine, or maybe some sort of higher entity than other lesser creatures.

It even looked like it was made of stone.

The fact that this was one of the dungeons on Earth's moon just meant this weird egg was most likely similar to a natural 'divine-realm' creature, but whether this egg is something like a pet or possibly a BOSS-monster-like thing is a question Ye Xing could not answer, at all.

He would need to check the contents of the other dungeons. See if any others were weird, too.

. . .

One by one...

No, wait, he had a super-maid for this.

. . .

If most of the early-opening divine dungeons didn't actually have any divine tier monsters in them, maybe Earth had a good chance of living through whatever plot this was? _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

In a dark, lightless land, withered trees sparsely dot an otherwise featureless gray wasteland, a low rumble could be heard originating from somewhere below the drab surface.

Time passes, from seconds to minutes, and minutes to hours. In the end, the land rumbles for two days and nights, as a precursor to a rather spine-chilling scene.

After forty hours of gradually escalating shaking, the cracking ground suddenly exploded into an ever-expanding cloud of ashy dust and harmless shrapnel.

Countless fleshless hands preclude the terrifying appearance of the inhuman and the monstrous shapes of too many animated skeletons of all sizes.

Bone, bone, bone, bone, and more bone as far as any eye could see.

Bones everywhere.

The masses of horror excitedly roared at the unlit sky as they all violently exited their former prison underneath.

Ominous clouds roil and swirl into existence above as a transparent aura of decay emanating from the horde became stronger with each new unearthing of another skeleton, almost visible from the sheer concentration of deathly energy gathering at the center of the undead congregation.

Until the crescendo of ghastly screams and deep roars were abruptly drowned by an emerging cry of freedom from something vaguely humanoid in shape and size rising from an oddly pristine clearing.

A crown of midnight black star-specked bone sat atop an old but smooth skull of white bone, luxurious black silk-like robes decorated with blood-red lines and blurred runes of unknown meaning draped over a bony empty torso, jeweled rings of such detail and size of which could only be the result of a master's work sat upon each finger, and bone serpents entwined together and ending with both skulls holding a shining round core of crystallized energy between the fangs held tightly within a fist, such accessories and garments denoted the figure as something more than the other relatively mundane undead surrounding it.

As a throne made entirely of skulls atop a stone platform similar to a palanquin rose from the depths below this figure, it enthusiastically roared at the now whirling dark clouds blocking the sight of the sky completely.

"I - AM - FREEEEEE!! Hahaha, finally, after spending so long forced asleep from the effort of casting my greatest masterpiece, [Taboo: Space-Time Transmigration Path], I can finally attack this World with impunity and transcend as the one and only God of Death! Hahahaha!!"

As the undead king laughed maniacally, its skeletal undying subjects raised their own heads and roared out their loyalty to their master and their defiance against the gods and heavens above.

"Go, my servants! Rush out of this fragile cage and invade the Lost Kingdoms of the Godlings! We shall take the first step by destroying all of my potential enemies before they have even emerged!

From this day forth, I, Lich Overlord Pluto, will bathe in a Festival of Divine Blood!"

With the declaration of the beginning of a new crusade resounding through the ranks of undead, the flames within the skulls of the Undying Legion of Pluto flared wildly and every one of its mad servants charged forth in a bloodthirsty frenzy.

Upon the now floating platform, Pluto regally sat upon its skull throne and watched with an eager gaze as its army broke free from the shackles of the dungeon that once imprisoned them, charging through the unstable space channel on the other side of the dimensional rupture without any damage from the chaotic but still weak turbulence of space around them.

As the throne platform now began to follow through the space channel, Pluto slightly raised its skull to gaze at the void between dimensions, as if staring at something in particular.

"Soon... soon, you all shall die by my hand, and I shall raise you as my own slaves to serve me for all eternity...!

Amaterasu...

Odin...

Monkey...

Horus...

YHWH!" _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

. . .

Well, one could always hope for an easy and relaxing future, Ye Xing supposed.

It's not like he needs to worry about anything big happening right now, anyway.

Sweeping his mental scanning across all of his side-projects in the secret base, he set up his clones and parallel thought-processing to begin completing them all, for once.

Going on a joyride with his personal starship in the future would be a nice way to relax and entertain himself, right?

. . .

Yeah, sounds pretty good.

Looking over some things about Spirit World and the data scout drones picked up on the neighboring solar systems nearby, he gave some thought to whether he should do something to empower his own people or something. His lovers, except for Xiao Nü, were pretty weak.

Ah, Hong-Yu isn't really his lover, yet. Maybe he should do something about that, too. She might be his fiancé, but until he got his lewd-style brainwashing into her, she wasn't really considered as a lover, right?

. . .

Right.

He should see if he could find a time for inducting her into his fledgling harem, then.

It's not like there's anything pressing or dangerous to leave alone going on at the time, anyway.
