Chapter 13: flex

"So Jiro, I'm curious: what happens when you plug your headphone jack in your phone? Does it do anything?"

The girl in question chuckled. "Yes, they work just like regular ones."

"So does the sound just get transmitted in your mind? Or does your brain interpret the signals the same as those coming from your ears?"

"Hhmm, I guess It's the same as hearing stuff regularly? It's pretty weird because I can still hear my surroundings well, so it takes a while to get used to, but it's pretty handy."

"Oh, I see, that does sound pretty neat."

This was one of the many useless yet pleasant chats I had been having that evening. As was the goal of this gathering, I had been taking my time getting to know each of my classmates. I did this not only because it was beneficial for the future, but mostly because I was, in all honesty, slightly starved for human interaction. After all, a large part of my life, including the few months I'd been in this new world, was devoid of any human interaction. In short, I needed some friends, and unlike most fiction, they were not going to appear out of thin air. So, I worked to make some.

"So Toru, have you ever actually seen yourself?"

"Shoji, how can you even see with all that hair in front of your face?"

"Tsuyu, is there anything you can't do with that tongue of yours?"

"My parents? Oh, they live overseas."

"How does everything seem to go well for me? Well, let's just say God owed me a favor, hehe."

Eventually, Bakugo, one of the guests who did not want to come,

at first, decided he had had enough.

"Ughh, CAN YOU STOP WITH ALL THIS BUDDY BUDDY STUFF AND JUST TELL US ABOUT YER QUIRK ALREADY! I'm GETTIN' SICK JUST WATCHING YOU GUYS!"

At first, the rest looked at the loud kid in annoyance. However, everyone then immediately looked at me with raging curiosity. While a lot of them did come to have a good time and get to know each other better, some of them, including battle-junkies like Bakugo and Todoroki, cared less about the social aspect and more about free information (and food).

I rolled my eyes in response. "Ughh, fine. It's hard to explain, but I'll try to keep it simple for the less bright ones." I looked teasingly at Bakugo, to his frustration. Before he could start waking up the neighbors, though, I started explaining.

"In short, I have a sub-dimension with an effectively unlimited number of treasures. A lot of them are weapons, but there's also food, which you have been eating, artifacts for anything I could need, priceless materials, and more. I can use my stuff, or I can launch it pretty hard."

I then got the perfect idea for showing off. "You know, I have so many artifacts, I could probably pull put one that can imitate each of your quirks. Who wants to volunteer?"

Before anyone could say anything, Ida, in his classic nobleman fashion, said: "Now, I get that your strong, but each person here is handpicked to be the best of the best. Everyone has a unique, powerful quirk that makes them the number 1. I highly doubt your powers stretch that far."

I smirked. "I guess you're first. Your thing was fast legs, right? Let's see." A golden gate materialized, out of which came a pair of golden boots, each with two beautiful, lifelike wings attached to it. I wasted no time putting them on, and unsurprisingly, they fit me perfectly. I jumped a few times, testing their feel, which was perfect. Then, I started running, and with a speed that Tenya could never hope to reach, I took off. However, I had sorely underestimated the power of the boots, as, almost immediately, I ran straight through the wall before landing unceremoniously on my bed. As I laid there, in a most unkingly position, with everyone staring at me, I could only say one thing.

"Well, I guess that proves my point. So, who wants to go next?"

As I walked back, paying no attention to the massive hole in the wall, I was bombarded with requests.

"Do me, do me!" some girls shouted, to which I could only flirtatiously wink before actually making a choice.

Eventually, I chose Toru Hagakure, whose surname was an obvious naruto pun, and who seemed to be shouting the loudest despite her literal lack of presence. Her being picked made her excited, and you could see her clothes going up and down, showing she was jumping joyfully.

"Yours should be easy, Toru. Watch." Wasting no time, I summoned a large sash. I waved it in a way similar to a bullfighter, before having it magically transform into a grey hat vaguely resembling a witch's hat. I waved the cap around the room, like a magician showing a seemingly regular item, before putting it on and vanishing from sight. My disappearance elected many oohs and aahs. The crowd somehow got scared when I started speaking as if believing me to have left.

"This is probably more impressive than your quirk, Toru, as it also hides my clothes. Sorry to upstage you, haha." After that, I removed the hat, revealing that I had been holding up a peace sign. I then put the hat on and back off again, now striking a sailor moon pose, which elected many impressed chuckles. Even the antisocial Todoroki showed a smile at my hilarious antics, his fondness for me having grown infinitesimally. I immediately noticed this.

"Seeing that Todoroki finally decided to smile, I'll choose him next. Your thing was Fire and Ice, right? Well, to be honest, generating elements is so easy that I have dozens of ways to do so. So, how do you want it? From a staff? My hands? From a sword? The options are endless, hehe!"

Todoroki took this as a challenge and, feeling slightly frustrated for being caught smiling in front of a crowd (like the tsundere he is), he decided to make things difficult for me.

"Can you generate fire from your feet?"

Silence.

"Hahaha!" I laughed heartily. "Trying to make things difficult for me, eh? Well, no matter. Watch." I immediately summoned a seemingly ordinary pair of shoes. Upon closer inspection, they resembled a pair of Tai-chi shoes. Not my kind of shoe, but no matter. I put them on before instinctively kicking forward with the grace of a master martial artist towards the opposite side of the group. Then, from the sole of the shoe, a large fireball emerged that headed for the wall at breakneck speed. Upon colliding, it burst apart, immediately setting the wallpaper on fire and scaring my classmates. I stayed calm, as if this was a daily occurrence, and took action. I summoned a golden staff, the bottom half still within the gate, before aiming it at the flames and unleashing a torrent of ice. It extinguished the fire and simultaneously lowered the temperature of the room by several degrees. I looked towards my guests before saying with a completely straight face: "Well, I guess that's what I get for showing off. Alright, who's next?"

A/N Sorry for missing a day (or two, but who keeps track anymore, right). I got busy with some stuff and then wrote the most cancerous 1000 words I have ever written (yes it was worse than the previous chapters). It got me contemplating rewriting the story (same concept, different vision, maybe) as I don't feel like the quality of the previous chapters is good enough, or just good in general. let me know what you think of that, and just suggestions, in general, would be massively appreciated. appreciate the powerstones, and whoever actually likes what I'm making, know that you make me extremely horny. take care <3
